Mubi is finalising a $20 million deal for Die My Love, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. It premiered at Cannes 2025 with a 6-minute ovation.
Cannes 2025 has officially delivered its first major buzzworthy deal and it's none other than Die My Love, the haunting psychological drama fronted by Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson. The Lynne Ramsay-directed film premiered to a roaring six-minute standing ovation on Saturday evening, cementing its status as an early awards contender.
According to Variety, a deal valued at around $20 million is on the verge of being finalised for the U.S. and several international territories. This marks the festival's first big-ticket sale this year.
Adapted from Ariana Harwicz's acclaimed 2017 novel, Die My Love plunges into the intimate, terrifying depths of postpartum depression. Lawrence plays a woman slowly unraveling in rural America, her suffering exacerbated by the emotional unavailability of her husband, played by Pattinson.
The film marks Ramsay's powerful return to the Croisette after her 2017 Cannes hit You Were Never Really Here, which starred Joaquin Phoenix and won Best Screenplay.
Reflecting on the emotional toll of the role, Lawrence shared, 'As a mother, it was really hard to separate what I would do as opposed to what she would do. And it was just heartbreaking. I had just had my firstborn, and there's not really anything like postpartum. It's extremely isolating, which is so interesting."
The film is backed by a formidable team of producers, including Lawrence's own banner Excellent Cadaver, Martin Scorsese's Sikelia Productions, and Black Label Media. Behind the scenes, the producing credits are stacked: Justine Ciarrocchi, Scorsese, Andrea Calderwood, Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, and Thad Luckinbill.
