Local BJP leader among 7 caught for gambling in Pune, expelled from party

Police said the seven persons, including Audumbar Vitthal Kamble, 42, general secretary of the BJP's Parvati assembly constituency unit, were booked under the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
'The crime branch took action against the accused in offences relating to gambling. In this case, the accused were served notices and provision of arrest is not there as per the law,' said additional commissioner of police (crime) Pankaj Deshmukh.
Police seized ₹10,250 in cash and other items, including mobile phones, from the suspects.
Following the police action, BJP city unit president Dheeraj Ghate announced Kamble's expulsion from the party.
'Kamble was recently appointed secretary of the Parvati unit. After this incident, the local unit head expelled him. Such behaviour is unacceptable. In every meeting, we warn our functionaries and office-bearers to maintain party discipline and avoid any act that tarnishes their own image or that of the party,' Ghate said.
Apart from Kamble, police identified the other suspects as Sangram Dilip Bhosale (48), Mangesh Maruti Shelar (39), Yuvraj Nanasaheb Suryawanshi (38), Sagar Narayan Adagale (31), Bapu Laxman Patole (59), and Rohan Shekhar Londhe (32).

The UER project, he said, is helping Delhi get rid of legacy waste from garbage mounds. 'To make Urban Extension Road, lakhs of tonnes of waste have been put to work by reducing the mountains of waste, and it has been done scientifically,' Modi said, adding that the government is working to alleviate the problems of residents near the Bhalswa landfill. Praising the Rekha Gupta-led government, he said, 'I was told that in such a short time, 16 lakh metric tons of waste have been removed from the Yamuna. Not only that, in a very short time, 650 Devi Electric Buses have been started in Delhi.' He added that the number of electric buses in Delhi will soon cross 2,000, calling them the 'key to a clean and green Delhi.' Attacking the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) governments, Modi said Delhi was thrown into neglect, but the new government under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will address the residents' long-standing problems. 'The projects that were supposed to be sanctioned were not completed for years. In the last 11 years, we have increased the budget for infrastructure by six times. Now, there is a rush to complete the projects quickly,' Modi said. Touching on his Independence Day promise, Modi mentioned major reforms under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. 'This Diwali, with the GST reforms, the country's citizens are going to get double bonuses. Every family will benefit from this. The poor and middle class will benefit,' he reiterated. PM Modi said that khadi had once reached the stage of extinction, but 'in one decade, the sale of Khadi increased by seven times.' He added that people adopted khadi with the 'vocal for local' mantra. He urged Indians to buy goods made in India and shopkeepers to stock India-made products. 'With your one step, the country will benefit, your family and your children will also benefit. With everything that you sell, workers of the country will benefit and your money will remain in India,' he added.

Punjab BJP chief seeks support for PM Modi's stand on farmers
Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar on Sunday called on all stakeholders to set aside politics and stand united with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national interest for his resolute stand in favour of farmers against US pressure. The BJP state chief said the US, which considers itself the global enforcer, has been continuously pressuring India to allow its agricultural products into Indian markets. To this end, the US has imposed stringent tariff restrictions on India. "However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi understands that allowing US agricultural products into India would devastate Indian farmers, and thus, he has refused to bow to this pressure," he said in a statement here. Jakhar emphasised that at a time when major global powers have succumbed to US demands, Prime Minister Modi has prioritised the interests of Indian farmers and refused to open Indian markets to the US. Due to the BJP's pressure and the strong opposition from Punjab's people, the government was forced to withdraw this policy. He added that the people of Punjab have now clearly understood who engages in politics in the name of farmers and who truly stands with them in difficult times. Jakhar stressed that this is the time to identify those who exploit farmers' names for political gain while doing nothing substantial for them. In contrast, the BJP took a firm stand against the land pooling policy in Punjab and stood strongly with farmers. At the national level, Prime Minister Modi has taken on the US to protect the interests of the country's farmers. Jakhar urged everyone to seize this opportunity to support the Prime Minister in his efforts.
