Rizzle Kicks fans go wild as Jordan introduces special guest to Glastonbury set
Rizzle Kicks opened The Other Stage at Glastonbury 2019 with a huge, hit-filled set - and frontman Jordan Stephens' mum made a surprise appearance
A surprise guest stole the show at Rizzle Kicks' performance on The Other Stage. As the musicians took to the stage at Glastonbury fans went wild as Jordan Stephens made a special announcement.
He introduced his mum mid-way through the set and she made a memorable appearance on stage. She donned a green wig during their hit 'Mama Do the Hump', prompting Stephens to exclaim, "Give it up for my mum!" The ecstatic crowd went wild with cheers.
Even the renowned DJ Fatboy Slim, who joined the duo on stage, couldn't match the enthusiasm sparked by Stephens' mum. Despite the chaos, with thousands of fans packed in and jostling to get closer to the stage, the set list was full to bursting.
Among those played were fan favourites like 'Lost Generation', 'When I Was a Youngster', along with some of their latest tracks.
In a tongue-in-cheek moment, Stephens stood on a podium labelled "LOSER" during the song 'When I was a Youngster'. However, judging by the crowd's adoration, Rizzle Kicks are definitely winners in their eyes, reports Somerset Live.
Elsewhere on Friday, L ewis Capaldi made a surprise comeback. The Scottish singer returned to the stage after a two-year hiatus.
Earlier today, Lewis released a new song called Survive. Alongside his announcement post, Lewis shared a video and captioned it: "It's been a while."
The new song is full of emotion with lyrics including "I swear to God I'll survive" and "I'm going to get up and live until the day that I die," his first new release since stepping out of the spotlight because of his mental health.
Lewis has been open about his mental health and hypochondria in recent years. .In 2022, he said: "If I'm having a panic attack there's nobody else that can help me out of it except my mum, for sure.
"My mum has had to sleep in my bed as recently as a month ago because of how bad my anxiety got at one point. But I think that was alcohol related to be honest, I had been on a bit of a bender."
He went on: "It never really reached a tipping point until after getting famous, I never had a panic attack until after I was famous, or after I was a musician or after I got to a height.
"The hypochondria - I guess looking back, I was such an anxious kid, but now because I understand it a lot more with therapy and I speak about it a lot more with people and try to learn more about it, I look back at it and think the behaviour was a result of anxiety."

Glastonbury fans complain over Rizzle Kicks snub after Jordan Stephens' message
Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule, known as the duo Rizzle Kicks, performed on the Other Stage at Glastonbury today with Jade Thirlwall among those in the crowd Fans of duo Rizzle Kicks shared their disappointment with the BBC earlier over their set at Glastonbury Festival. The reaction came after bandmate Jordan Stephens had himself issued a message about filming at the festival. Jordan and his bandmate Harley Alexander-Sule, both 33, performed together as Rizzle Kicks on the Other Stage at Worthy Farm in Somerset this afternoon. It marked the duo's return to the festival after making their Glastonbury debut on the BBC Introducing Stage back in 2013. Prior to their latest set, Jordan announced yesterday that the BBC, the "exclusive broadcast partner" of Glastonbury, would not be filming it. He shared the news in a statement issued to fans on Instagram ahead of their return today. Jordan wrote: "The BBC are not filming our Glastonbury set. If you're not there you will not be able to watch it back. It might well be once in a lifetime. Who knows." He added at the time: "The set is [fire emoji] and we're buzzin for it." His partner Jade Thirlwall, 32, later expressed disappointment over the situation. The Little Mix member, who is set to play the Woodsies Stage tomorrow, referenced the news on her Instagram Story whilst sharing her excitement over getting to see him perform at Glastonbury. Alongside a selfie, she wrote this afternoon: "What du mean I'm about to watch my bf at glasto when we were dreaming about it this time last year. Rizzle Kicks set isn't televised (booo) so get into it and get here to the other stage lol." Jade isn't alone in her disappointment, with a number of fans having expressed frustration over Rizzle Kicks' set not being available on BBC iPlayer. Several other acts who performed on the Other Stage today, like Franz Ferdinand and Gracie Abrams, were livestreamed. The livestream for that stage however began at 2.15pm, which was after Rizzle Kicks' set. One fan wrote on X: "Rizzle Kicks not being broadcast at Glastonbury is a travesty, especially compared to some of the s**t that they are showing." Another wrote: "@BBCiPlayer why can't I found Rizzle Kicks. I'm really disappointed." A third person, who had previously requested a livestream be available for the set, later posted: "Thanks guys missed Rizzle Kicks great job." Another said shortly after the duo's set began: "No Rizzle Kicks on iPlayer, sort it out lads." Approached for comment, a spokesperson for the BBC told the Mirror tonight that the broadcaster will be providing more than 90 hours of performances. They said: "The BBC, Glastonbury's exclusive broadcast partner, brings audiences a two-month celebration of the festival this June and July. "Our BBC iPlayer coverage provides over 90 hours of performances, with live streams of the five main stages, in addition to The Glastonbury Channel and over 90 sets to watch on demand throughout July. There is also extensive coverage on TV, radio and BBC Sounds - including over 30 performances and DJ sets that will be available to hear on demand on BBC Sounds throughout July."

Lewis Capaldi supported by celebrity friends after emotional Glastonbury return
Lewis Capaldi's emotional surprise return to Glastonbury saw the Scottish singer receive an influx of support from the celebrity world two years on from his last performance An emotional Lewis Capaldi was supported by a wave of celebrity friends as he made a surprise return to Glastonbury. The Scottish singer returned to Worthy Farm two years after he last performed at the festival. The Someone You Loved singer struggled to finish his set last timeout, with his voice faltering in a touching message to the crowd. At the time, he told them: "Glastonbury, I'm really sorry. I'm a bit annoyed with myself." The crowd soon took over the vocals of Someone You Loved. "I feel like I'll be taking another wee break over the next couple of weeks. So you probably won't see much of me for the rest of the year, maybe even. But when I do come back and when I do see you, I hope you're still up for watching us." And today, after telling the crowd "second time's a charm," Lewis was able to complete the song two years on. Following his emotional set, Lewis took to Instagram to share a clip of the two performances merged together. In the touching clip, it showed the struggle of 2023 before a teary-eyed Lewis looked on after taking to the stage again today. He captioned his upload: "Glastonbury it's so incredible to be back, thank you so much for having me x" And his video was immediately met with a wave of support. Among those sharing a message with the star was former footballer Alan Shearer, who simply said: "Love it," alongside clapping hands emojis. McFly's Danny Jones also said: "Epic maaaaaate so good to see you back," while Sam Fender labelled it the "return of the king". Paddy McGuinness was also on hand to compliment his efforts, calling him the governor, while ex-Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall responded with a love heart emoji. Lewis was also supported backstage after his gig. Matty Healy was seen recording a message for some fans backstage to send his support to the Scottish star. A source attending Glastonbury told the Mirror: 'I heard him say 'really pleased he is here and I wish him well" Lewis' return comes hours after he released a new song called Survive. As he shared a post on Instagram announcing the new tune, he captioned it: "It's been a while." The new song is full of emotion with lyrics including lines such as "I swear to God I'll survive" and "I'm going to get up and live until the day that I die." It marks his first new release since stepping out of the spotlight because of his mental health. And as he performed it to the Glastonbury crowd he cried as he began to sing. He revealed that his one goal was to get back on stage at Glastonbury as he paid tribute to the fans. At the end of the song, he struggled to get through the track, with the emotion clearly a lot for him as he sang those final words with passion.

Emmerdale star teases villain's return as he confirms new Lewis twists
Emmerdale newcomer Bradley Riches, who plays Lewis Barton on the ITV soap, has teased new twists ahead for the brother of Ross Barton, while calling for the comeback of a villain One Emmerdale newcomer is hoping one of the show's biggest villains will make an epic return to the ITV soap, while teasing new twists ahead. Bradley Riches spoke exclusively to The Mirror about what lies ahead for his character Lewis Barton. It seems fans will be seeing a lot more of Ross Barton's secret brother, with it teased he'll be very present up on Moira DIngle's farm. Amid Lewis falling out with Ross over their secret weed growing schemes and the truth about his mother Emma Barton's death, Bradley has hinted the drama will die down a little where Moira is concerned. Moira feared the worst when Lewis worked out she'd killed Emma. But Lewis will move on it seems, forming a bond with Ross' aunt and staying close to Ross despite some hiccups along the way thanks to Mackenzie Boyd, and new villain Ray. But Bradley is hoping we might see another big villain head back to the show, as it would be a rather big twist for his ongoing plot. Emmerdale stars warn 'lots of danger' ahead as 'scary' new villain Ray debuts Bradley told us that Lewis was going to let things slide with Moira, forgiving her for Emma's death. Moira actress Natalie J Robb then confessed: "She will mother him," as Bradley told us: "He can't stay angry at these faces," referring to Ross and Moira. He added: "I think they are both quite similar and know what they want. They will see eye to eye soon. But I say bring back Emma... maybe she never fell off that bridge." Ross actor Mike Parr added: "It is a shame she can't come back but you never know actually. It is a soap after all. Maybe she floated, she got back on her broom and flew off." It seems the bond between Lewis and Ross will grow though, with Mike telling us: "I think it would be really nice because we have such a nice offscreen relationship. It's fun and it will be nice if that comes through onscreen too. "It's hard to make the comedy fun and push happy storylines that last longer than two episodes amid all the illness and death. It would be nice to make that work and pump some happiness into the show." Mike then questioned: "But do they become sworn enemies or can they grow closer? We will just have to wait and see but there's more stuff ahead." Bradley also teased more comedy ahead, adding: "He's got a couple of one liners coming up which is exciting. And he's introduced to new people in the village as well." As we asked about him getting a job within the village, both Bradley and Natalie let slip Lewis would be very much staying on the farm, just like the rest of the Bartons. Natalie confessed: "Maybe somewhere else..." as Bradley added: "He will get a job, he's a determined guy. He wants to get stuff done." Natalie added: "He will be getting a job," before pulling a face that told us all we needed to know.
