
South Korean actor Song Young Kyu passes away
Yonhap News Agency reported that Song was found dead inside a car on Monday in a residential building in Yongin by an acquaintance.
According to South Korean police, there were no signs of foul play nor a note discovered at the scene.
Song is survived by his wife and two children.
According to Soompi, the actor was caught drunk driving in Yongin back in June. He had reportedly driven under the influence for about five kilometers and was referred to the appropriate legal authorities.
Following the incident, he was dropped from his roles in the TV shows"The Defects" and "The Winning Try," as well as the play "Shakespeare in Love," per the report.
Song, born in 1970, is known for starring in the hit action-comedy film "Extreme Job," Netflix series "Narco-Saints," "Big Bet," and "The Recon," among others.

DAY6 to bring ‘The Decade' tour in Manila in January 2026
What a good day to be a MYDAY! South Korean rock band DAY6 is coming back to the Philippines for a concert next year! 'One Piece' live action drops new Season 2 image ahead of 'big' announcements
The Straw Hats are setting sail towards something big! The official social media pages of Netflix's "One Piece" live-action series released an image from the highly anticipated second season. It shows the crew — Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Sanji (Taz Skylar), and Usopp (Jacob Gibson) gathered together in the Going Merry. "Can you feel it in the wind, Nakama? Korean actor Song Young-kyu passes away after drunk driving scandal
Photo Inside Page Actor Song Young-kyu, who recently faced public backlash over a drunk driving charge, has passed away unexpectedly. According to MBN, the Korean actor was found lifeless inside a vehicle in Cheoin District, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, around 8 a.m. He was discovered by an acquaintance, who immediately alerted authorities. Police reported no signs of foul play and stated that no note was found at the scene. Authorities responded to a report and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. On June 19, Song was caught driving under the influence for approximately 5 kilometers in Giheung District, Yongin. A witness report led police to the scene, where his blood alcohol concentration was measured at over 0.08%, a level warranting license revocation. The incident was revealed a month later, resulting in Song stepping down from the dramas Tri and The Defects, as well as the stage play Shakespeare in Love. His sudden passing, without a public apology or statement, has left many with mixed emotions and a sense of unresolved sorrow. His wife and two daughters survive him. The funeral service will be held at 8 a.m. on the Aug. 6, and his final resting place will be Hambeoksan Memorial Park.
