John Abraham
is one of the few
Bollywood stars
who is rarely seen at glitzy industry gatherings unless it is part of his
film promotions
. Speaking to India Today, the actor revealed that this has been his way of life long before marriage, and his wife,
Priya Runchal
, shares the same temperament. According to John, it is a 'very conscious decision' they both made.
Addressing the common question about why he avoids Bollywood parties, John told India Today, 'I never went to parties even before I got married. I have always chosen to stay out because the music is too loud, and I don't drink alcohol. I have a problem with alcohol because my father loves his single malt. Also, I sleep very early and I wake up at 4–4:30 am. I read as much as I can after waking up, and I devour world news.'

The actor went on to explain that his absence from the social circuit is deliberate and unrelated to his career, 'That is a very conscious decision, because my films have nothing to do with my personal life. In all these years, I have never had a publicist or an agent. I don't have someone who is manufacturing stuff for me out there. So the minute my films are over, I become not newsworthy and I go into my shell, and I come out to speak only when I have something relevant to say.'
John Abraham's last outing was The Diplomat. He is now preparing for the release of Tehran, a film based on the 2012 attacks on Israeli diplomats.
The movie, directed by Arun Gopalan and produced by Dinesh Vijan,
Shobhna Yadav
,
Vipin Agnihotri
and Sandeep Leyzell, will premiere on ZEE5 on 15 August 2025. The cast also includes Neeru Bajwa and
Manushi Chhillar
.
Live Events
John Abraham prefers quiet mornings to late-night parties, rising at 4:30 am to read and follow global affairs. His stance against alcohol and the noisy party scene, along with his avoidance of publicity games, means that fans mostly see him only when he has something significant to share, like the release of his upcoming
political thriller
, Tehran.
