Man Utd star's 'marriage over' as ace 'sick of model wife's spiritual lifestyle'

Daily Mirror15 hours ago
Matthijs De Ligt married stunning Dutch model AnneKee Molenaar last summer, but the couple have reportedly split after just a year of marriage, with the Manchester United defender said to be 'sick of her spiritual lifestyle'
Manchester United's Matthijs De Ligt is reportedly parting ways with wife AnneKee Molenaar, just a year after they got married. The 25 year-old defender married the gorgeous Dutch model last summer in an intimate ceremony.
His transfer to Old Trafford from Bayern Munich and the Netherlands' journey to the Euro 2024 semi-finals both occurred last summer too, meaning the couple were planning to celebrate their nuptials this month with a grand party in Italy, surrounded by friends and family.

However, according to Dutch outlet DenD, the party was abruptly cancelled. It's claimed that De Ligt has jetted off to Barbados without AnneKee, 25, after spending last week alone in Ibiza.

A source close to the pair has, it's claimed, stated that their marriage is over.
"Initially, there was talk of 'some time for themselves' and holidaying separately, but it is now reportedly definitely over," DenD reported, via Realityfbi. "Matthijs is said to have travelled to Ibiza alone this week and was in Barbados for this."
According to Realityfbi, De Ligt is said to have grown increasingly bothered by his wife's spiritual lifestyle. "Apparently, Matthijs can no longer handle Annekee's exaggerated 'spiriwiri-content'", the channel reported last week.
The model's Instagram is a treasure trove of bizarre posts, including one with an alien spaceship emoji caption, snaps of her browsing for gemstones and crystals, delving into tarot fortune-telling books, and donning a top emblazoned with a cannabis symbol.
She also has her own "Alchemia" page and business. "Alchemia" is the Italian and Polish word for alchemy, the ancient chemical practice focused on transmuting base metals into gold and discovering the elixir of life.

AnneKee's Instagram still showcases photos of De Ligt, yet it's been seven weeks since the United centre-back last featured in her social media updates, following a date night they shared.
The couple's romance sparked in Amsterdam as the towering 6ft 2in defender was cutting his teeth with Ajax, but it wasn't until 2023 that he popped the question. Their wedding was timed around the Champions League final, which saw the groom dash that evening to join the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024 that very evening.
"It's actually funny because the way the planning for our civil wedding went is a reflection of our relationship in general," AnneKee once quipped to Dutch Vogue.
"At first, we planned to get married at the end of May, on our anniversary, but then it looked like Matthijs would make it to the Champions League final with Bayern Munich. So, we had to reschedule everything at the last moment."

Third seed Jessica Pegula becomes biggest first-round casualty at Wimbledon

Last year's US Open runner-up crashed out following a 6-2 6-3 defeat to the Italian world number 116 in just 58 minutes. Seeded third, Pegula became the highest-profile casualty of the women's draw so far as Cocciaretto celebrated the greatest win of her career. Elisabetta Cocciaretto, take a bow 👏 The Italian beats No.3 seed Jessica Pegula 6-2, 6-3 to storm into the second round of #Wimbledon — Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) July 1, 2025 Asked what went wrong, the 31-year-old American, who lost in the first round of a grand slam for the first time since the 2020 French Open, replied: 'I don't know. She played absolutely incredible tennis. 'Do I think I played the best match ever? No. But I definitely don't think I was playing bad. 'It's really a bummer to lose. I haven't lost first round of a slam in a very long time, so that sucks. 'I'm upset that I wasn't able to turn anything around. But at the same time, I do feel like she played kind of insane. Hats off to her. Kudos to her for playing at a high level that I couldn't match it today.' Cocciaretto, who had only once before defeated a top-10 player, spectacularly turned the tables on Pegula, having suffered a 6-4 6-0 round-three loss to her in SW19 in 2023. Barbora Krejcikova avoided being added to the short list of reigning champions to suffer first-round eliminations by battling back to beat Eastbourne Open runner-up Alexandra Eala in three sets. The 29-year-old Czech was in danger of joining compatriot Marketa Vondrousova and 22-time grand slam winner Steffi Graf in the history books. But, having come into the championship nursing a thigh issue after struggling for form and fitness all year, she dug in to progress 3-6 6-2 6-1 against 20-year-old Filipino Eala on Centre Court. 'Six months ago, I was in a lot of pain with my back and I didn't really know how my career is going to go,' Krejcikova said in her on-court interview. 'I'm super happy and super excited that I can be here and that I can play on such a great court.' "First of all, big credit to her." The 35-year-old wild card, who returned to the tour in February following the birth of son Petr last summer, intends to retire after this year's US Open. Kvitova was a surprise winner of a maiden grand slam title at the All England Club in 2011 thanks to victory over Maria Sharapova before beating Eugenie Bouchard in the 2014 final. Speaking on court, she said: 'Thank you for the atmosphere, it was wonderful to play on this beautiful court. Congrats Emma. I wish we could have played for a bit longer. I never dreamed of winning Wimbledon and I did it twice so this is something very special. 'I will miss Wimbledon, I will miss tennis, I will miss you fans but I am ready for the next chapter of life as well. I can't wait to be back as a member.' Coco Gauff suffers stunning first-round defeat as Wimbledon shocks continue

Twenty-four days since lifting the title at Roland Garros, the stunned American second seed was beaten 7-6 (3) 6-1 in a major upset. The resounding loss was the 21-year-old's second round-one exit in three years in SW19 following defeat to compatriot Sofia Kenin at this stage in 2023. "It's the win of her career." No.1 Court is stunned as Dayana Yastremska defeats No.2 seed Coco Gauff 7-6(3), 6-1 😲#Wimbledon — Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) July 1, 2025 While dejected world number two Gauff delivered nine double faults and only six winners compared with 29 unforced errors in an erratic display, Nottingham Open runner-up Yastremska produced the performance of her career. 'It was a great match – I was really on fire,' the 25-year-old said on court following her maiden victory over Gauff at the fourth attempt 'Playing against Coco it is something special. She's a great player and a great person. I enjoyed a lot and these courts are made for the greatest players so I'm very grateful to be on this court. 'My preparation before the grass season didn't go very well – I got sick at Roland Garros and I only trained two days on grass. It was pretty unexpected but it has been a great season for me. I love playing on grass, I feel like this season we are friends! Dayana's delight ✨#Wimbledon — Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) July 1, 2025 'I hope the road will continue, and it is a pleasure being here.' Earlier, world number three Jessica Pegula struggled to explain her shock exit as she praised the 'insane' performance of opponent Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Arsenal sign goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea

The 30-year-old Spaniard spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, making 35 appearances in all competitions. Arsenal had brought in Neto from the Cherries as back-up to David Raya, but the Brazilian has returned to the Cherries following the end of his own season-long loan. Here to raise the levels. Kepa Arrizabalaga is a Gunner. — Arsenal (@Arsenal) July 1, 2025 Kepa, who spent the 2023/24 campaign at Real Madrid, has signed a three-year deal, the PA news agency understands. The fee is reported to be around £5million, with the transfer subject to the completion of regulatory processes. 'I'm really, really happy to be here, really excited and looking forward to what is coming,' Kepa told Arsenal's website. 'The ambition that is shown in this club, when I talk with Mikel (Arteta) and (goalkeeping coach) Inaki (Cana), how much they show me their desire to win, I think we are so close to winning and, hopefully, altogether, we can achieve it.' Kepa became the world's most expensive goalkeeper when he joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in a £71m deal during the summer of 2018, going on to win the Europa League and Champions League with the Blues as well as the 2023 UEFA Nations League with Spain. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is confident Kepa will provide plenty of competition for his compatriot Raya. 'He is a player we know, having come up against him many times in recent seasons,' Arteta said. 'He brings a wealth of experience, which his team-mates will benefit from, and he has a real hunger to win. Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has departed Chelsea and joined Arsenal. We thank Kepa for his efforts during his time at Stamford Bridge and wish him well in the future. — Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) July 1, 2025 'Kepa works hard and will elevate our levels. I know he will fit in perfectly, already knowing some of his team-mates, and we are really excited about his future with us.' Chelsea posted on X: 'We thank Kepa for his efforts during his time at Stamford Bridge and wish him well in the future.' Arsenal also appear to be closing in on deals for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard and Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi. The Gunners are in need of midfield reinforcements, with Thomas Partey having become a free agent after his contract expired and Jorginho also leaving the club earlier this month to join Brazilian club Flamengo.
