Former Spartan James Piot fires an even par third round at the Rocket Classic
Of the three former Spartans competing in Detroit's PGA Tour event, only one made the weekend, with James Piot making the cut on the six-under number.
On Saturday, Piot was looking to make a move up the leaderboard, but he unfortunately was unable to do so. A two birdie, two bogey day led to a 36-36-72 round for the former Spartan, shooting an even par round. He now sits at T73 on the leaderboard for the tournament.
Sunday's fourth and final round will be Piot's last chance to make a move upwards on the leaderboard. He will tee off at 7:34 a.m. in a grouping alongside Ben Kohles.

Tour Championship now offers official money and richest prize in golf with a $40 million purse
OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Tour Championship now has the richest individual prize fund in golf with the PGA Tour making the FedEx Cup payoff count as official money for the first time. The total purse is $40 million, with $10 million to the winner. Since the FedEx Cup began in 2007, the bonus pool at the end of the Tour Championship was unofficial money, with part of it deferred.

An annual fan tradition is returning for Spartans' opener against Broncos

Michigan State announced the annual tradition of striping the stadium is set to return again this year in the opener against the Broncos on August 29. This has became the norm for the Spartans to have a season-opening home game on Friday night of Labor Day Weekend, with the fans striping the stadium in green and white. Per a post from Michigan State Athletics' official X social media account, the even sections of the stadium should wear green, while the odd sections and student sections should wear white. To my knowledge, this is the typical sequence we see from year-to-year with this annual tradition. Below is a nice graphic from the Spartans' main X account to help fans know what color to wear for that game against the Broncos: Kickoff between Michigan State and Western Michigan is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on August 29.
