Sabrina Carpenter breaks British icon's album chart record amid controversy
Her hit album, Short N' Sweet, has now spent a massive 43 consecutive weeks at the top, according to the Official Charts Company.
The 26-year-old singer's achievement officially topples Ed Sheeran from the top spot.
Sheeran's 2021 album, =, had a record-setting 42-week stay in the top five, a claim which he managed to hold onto until Sabrina's album came along.
Oasis have stormed back into the UK albums chart, climbing to number two with their greatest hits collection Time Flies… 1994–2009, as anticipation builds for their upcoming Oasis Live '25 reunion tour.
The Britpop icons, who disbanded in 2009, officially confirmed their return in August 2024. The long-awaited tour kicks off in Cardiff this July, with major shows lined up in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin.
Topping the UK albums chart for the first time this week is musician James Marriott, whose debut album Don't Tell The Dog takes the number one spot.
The news comes just days after Sabrina revealed the cover for her upcoming album Man's Best Friend, which sparked enormous backlash.
The image, which depicts Carpenter on her knees, in a short black dress and heels, holding the leg of a suited man as he yanks her hair, is shocking many fans.
On Instagram, @edersoaresx wrote, 'Lol this cover art is so disgusting. As a fan I don't like it :(.' Reddit user Potential-Friend-133 said, 'The first image is very triggering for me. I hate this. A LOT.' More Trending
Others have argued that the album cover is satirical or even a moment of political commentary.
On the singles chart, Alex Warren reclaims the top spot with Ordinary landing at number one, followed by Sabrina Carpenter's latest hit Manchild in second place.
Ravyn Lenae's Love Me Not holds steady at number three, while Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club remains firmly at number four.

It comes after Noel's daughter Anaïs shared an eight-word message to Oasis fans in Dublin. The pair headed to the opening night of Boiler Room on the White Isle, hosted by Las Cicadas Ibiza, courtesy of PATRÓN Tequila, before heading to the mega club, Ushuaia. The couple danced the night away at the event, headlined by Grammy Award-winning star Nathy Peluso. Prior to the tour launching, Lennon struggled to contain his excitement. He said: "You know, we all cannot wait. It's going to be fantastic." However, he wasn't too fussed on rehearsals and admitted he was letting his dad focus on the work. "Nah, I'm just letting him get on with that. I'll see it for the real thing when it starts," he said. The musician whose band Automotive recently split also hinted that he'd love to join his dad and uncle on stage in the future, alongside his brother Gene, who fronts the band Villanelle. He told the Associated Press: "Yeah, I mean, it'll be really fun one day for me and my brother, my dad and my uncle to be on-stage, I think that'd be quite funny." Although Lennon didn't attend Croke Park, it was a special night for his gran, Peggy, who saw her two sons perform together for the first time on the tour. As the band performed Stand By Me, Liam could be heard saying: "This one I want to dedicate to my mum, my mum is here tonight." There were big cheers from the fans at Croke Park in response. Liam also dedicated Roll With It to the people of Charlestown, Co Mayo – where his mother hails from. Mid-song, he also turned to the upper tiers where she was expected to have been sitting and blew kisses as he mouthed: "I love you." In an interview in June, Peggy was asked if she had anything to do with the reunion between Noel and Liam. She said: "I was the instigator, yes. But sure, wasn't it always going to happen at some time or other? It was their choice, of course. Look, you can't force them to do things they don't want to do." Music fans flocked to Croke Park in Dublin to watch Oasis take to the stage - with lead singer Noel Gallagher's daughter, Anaïs Gallaghe, among the electric crowds Anaïs Gallagher had a marvellous time watching her father performing on stage at one of Oasis's hugely successful reunion tour gigs. The 25-year-old model and photographer is the daughter of 58-year-old Noel Gallagher and his ex-wife Meg Mathews, 59. And she looked very proud of her old pops as she joined tens of thousands of other music lovers at Croke Park, Dublin, over the weekend. Singing along in the crowd, Anaïs belted out the classic Oasis track, Live Forever, and shared footage of herself via Instagram Stories. She then uploaded a snap of her dad alongside her 52-year-old uncle Liam Gallagher, as they sang on stage to the delight of Oasis fans. Saturday night marked the first of two nights for the boys performing at the iconic Irish venue. It comes after her cousin Lennon skipped the Dublin shows and headed to Ibiza with his girlfriend. Noel looked focused as he performed on stage, and with Anaïs adding a heart hand emoji over her snap. Speaking in the Sunday Times in 2019, Liam said: "Any good that comes out of me is all from Peggy and all her sisters and brothers Oasis fans were stunned last year when brothers Liam and Noel confirmed they had buried the hatchet and would be touring for the first time since 2009. The brothers spectacularly fell out live on stage at the time and previously vowed never to perform together again. But the Oasis Live '25 Tour has been a smash hit - with critics and fans alike applauding the band for performing better than ever before. The Dublin gigs have been praised by fans, with Croke Park's doors opening again at 5pm on Sunday night for a second round of hits. First support act, Cast, were due to take to the stage at 6pm, followed by Richard Ashcroft at 7pm. Oasis, will walk out at 8.15pm on the dot, with the concert finishing at 10:15pm. Songs on the set list include Some Might Say, Supersonic, and Champagne Supernova.

Oasis fan felt 'like family member had died' after £250 Murrayfield ticket was bogus
Instead of singing her heart out all night, Charisse was left 'bawling her eyes out' when she said the ticket she purchased wouldn't load outside the stadium. An Oasis fan has told how she felt like she had experienced a "death in the family" after her ticket to see the Britpop brothers at Murrayfield turned out to be bogus. Charisse Quinn, from East Ayrshire, had got herself fully kitted out for the gig and splurged on a £250 ticket from resale site Viagogo for the last night of the Edinburgh stint of the Live '25 tour on Tuesday, August 12. But instead of singing her heart out all night, the 42-year-old was left crying her eyes out, when the ticket she purchased failed to load outside the stadium. After being contacted by Edinburgh Live, Viagogo bosses apologised to Charisse and confirmed she received a refund and was given the opportunity to see Oasis another night. Speaking to Edinburgh Live she said: "I'd finished night shift on the Tuesday morning and came home for a couple hours sleep. "My partner had bought the ticket on Friday and all day on Tuesday we were waiting for them to send the actual ticket, but they said that it was going to be guaranteed. Regardless, but nothing came of it. "My partner was working and he couldn't concentrate at his work because he was too busy trying to get in touch with Viagogo." When arriving the ticket didn't load and Charisse was unable to get into the gig. She said: "I'm still heartbroken about it. I went back to work last night and I'm a mental health nurse so all my patients were asking me how it was and it's just, I know this sounds really dramatic right, but it actually feels like a death in the family. "Because I was that excited for it, especially since it was a last minute ticket purchase and then this happened. "The fact that I spent money on my whole outfit as well as getting there. "There is no financial incentive for sellers to list tickets on our marketplace that they cannot deliver, since they are not paid until after the buyer successfully gets into the event. Sellers in breach of our terms and conditions will face consequences including fines and removal from the platform."
