Saiyaara title track: The title track of Saiyaara has taken the internet by storm, but it hasn't been without controversy. Many users have highlighted its noticeable resemblance to One Direction's hit song Night Changes, sparking widespread speculation online. As debates grew over whether the song was inspired by or copied from the original, composer Tanishk Bagchi stepped in to address the rumours and set the record straight.
Is Saiyaara's viral title track copied from One Direction's Night Changes?
If you're a One Direction fan, then you've surely heard Night Changes, one of the band's most popular and record-breaking tracks. This comes amid all the buzz surrounding Saiyaara. As soon as the Saiyaara title track was released, many felt its tune was strikingly similar to One Direction's Night Changes. Some even accused the makers of copying the song and lacking originality.
However, now, the singer of Saiyaara's title track Tanishk Bagchi has set the record straight.
In a recent interview with India Today, Tanishk Bagchi finally addressed the controversy surrounding Saiyaara and its alleged similarities to One Direction's Night Changes. Breaking his silence, Bagchi stated that no matter what he does, people will always find something negative to say, claiming, 'They don't have anything better to do. They keep on looking for opportunities to put me down.'
He went on to explain that Saiyaara is following its own path and resonating with listeners. Regarding the comparisons, Bagchi acknowledged that while the chords may be similar, the melody has a unique identity. 'The A minor scale has just about 3–4 chords, but every melody has a different soul,' he said.
Once known primarily for remixing classic songs, Bagchi also pointed out that creating a hit is never easy, even when drawing from familiar elements. He emphasized, 'All said and done, we didn't steal anything. The similarities are fine, it can happen, but it's not like we did it on purpose.'
Addressing the plagiarism claims directly, he clarified, 'Idhar se utha ke udhar nahi kiya (We didn't pick something from there and paste it here). We worked on the emotion of the song, and that worked. That's the magic of Saiyaara.'
Saiyaara box office collection
On Monday (day 11), Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara saw its lowest single-day collection yet, earning Rs 9.25 crore, a steep 68.33% drop from Sunday's Rs 30 crore haul. This marked the first time since its release that the film's daily earnings dipped below the Rs 10 crore mark, as per data from industry tracker Sacnilk.
Following a record-breaking opening week with a total of Rs 172.75 crore, Saiyaara entered its second week with steady momentum. The film collected Rs 18 crore on its second Friday, followed by a strong weekend performance with Rs 26.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 30 crore on Sunday.

Tanishaa Mukerji Defends Saiyaara, Slams ‘Paid' Audience Claim: ‘This Is Bollywood Bashing'

Tanishaa Mukerji reacted to claims that Saiyaara makers paid young people to cry and act emotional in theatres while watching the film. Here's what she said! Saiyaara, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has caused a stir at the box office, and has emerged as a surprise blockbuster. Saiyaara fever has gripped audiences across the country, especially Gen-Z, with emotional reactions flooding social media. Several videos of people crying and shouting inside the theatres while watching Saiyaara went viral on Instagram. Now, a podcast suggesting that these extreme reactions were planned by the filmmakers, caught the attention of actor Tanishaa Mukerji. She strongly responded to claims suggesting that the makers paid people to cry and act emotional in theatres, calling it yet another case of 'Bollywood bashing'. She defended the film, and stated that there is nothing wrong with people reacting to the film this way. In The Asymmetric Crew podcast, Shantanu Deshpande raised questions about the viral frenzy surrounding Mohit Suri's Saiyaara. 'What's happening with this ridiculous Saiyaara movie. The producer of this movie, in my view, has paid ₹500 in dehadi to lots of these Gen-Z young folks to go into these theatres and put on emotional performances of crying… This is how the movie is getting promoted by the way. The whole world has now become a bunch of performers," he said. Kajol's sister Tanishaa Mukerji reacted to the viral reel, and slammed the claims. She defended the film, and wrote, 'Completely disagree. Times are changing and these people are stuck in the past. Love and appreciate the new. And honestly What rubbish is this man saying. Does he know anything for a fact. He is using the phenomenon of Saiyara to get views by talking negatively." She further added, 'If people are reacting to a film what is so wrong about that. Just because he cannot relate doesn't mean the younger generation doesn't either. Every generation is different. This is india. We react. Go watch the film see how the audiences are moved. Then talk. This is just Bollywood bashing ! Brands just have to find new ways to connect to their audiences!" Saiyaara has officially crossed Rs 250 crore net in India and over Rs 300 crore worldwide—making it one of the biggest sleeper hits of 2025. The film, directed by Mohit Suri, released in theatres on July 18. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Kingdom: Who is Bhagyashri Borse? Vijay Deverakonda's heroine has a strong connection with Ajay Devgn

Bhagyashri Borse will soon be seen opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Kingdom, one of the biggest releases of the year. It is slated to hit the screens on July 31 and has created a buzz in the industry with its intense trailer. It also marks Vijay's first collaboration with Bhagyashri, who is regarded as one of Telugu cinema's bright upcoming stars. Born in 1999 in Aurangabad, the self-confessed Shah Rukh Khan fan made her acting debut with the Hindi film Yaariyaan 2 (2023). The young lady was also seen in Chandu Champion with Kartik Aaryan, which did not do well at the box office. Thereafter, she entered Telugu cinema with Mr Bachchan (2024). The film flopped but Bhagyashri emerged as a sensation with her bold screen presence. Interestingly, Mr Bachchan had a special connection with Ajay Devgn. Bhagyashri Borse's first Telugu movie was a remake of Raid Bhagyashri Borse, Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom co-star, made her Tollywood debut with Mr Bachchan. The film was a remake of Ajay Devgn's Raid (2018). Mr Bachchan featured her as the leading lady opposite Ravi Teja and was released last August. Much like Raid, it centred on an Income Tax officer who is tasked with the responsibility of conducting a raid on the mansion of a local political leader. However, unlike Devgn's version, it featured commercial elements and a full-fledged romantic sub-plot. Mr Bachchan was directed by Harish Shankar and also featured Jagapathi Babu in a key role. It failed to meet the standards set by the Bollywood hit and ended up being a disaster. Shot on a budget of Rs 70 crore, Mr Bachchan earned just Rs 7 crore in its full run (as per Pinkvilla) and also received negative reviews with critics panning the treatment. Are you ready for Kingdom? Coming to the present, Kingdom has the potential to be a game-changer for Bhagyashri. The spy thriller is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri of Jersey fame. According to reports in the Telugu media, she has a 'meaty' role in the film and it will add depth to the narrative. The plot centres on a constable (played by Vijay Deverakonda) who goes on a mission to rescue/find his brother. Satyadev plays the Arjun Reddy star's brother in the film and something happens to him in Sri Lanka. Kingdom is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya. Anirudh Ravichander serves as the music director. Kingdom is set to hit the screens on July 31.
