Lizzo admits 'I still think I'm big' as she shares candid revelations about weight loss

Daily Mirror05-08-2025
About Damn Time star, Lizzo, revealed she had lost 16 per cent of her body fat over two years in 2025, but now admits her weight loss journey hasn't been easy
Singer, Lizzo, has admitted she still thinks of herself as 'big' despite losing a reported 60 pounds over two years. The About Damn Time star, 37, has spoken openly about her weight loss journey, revealing she had lost 16 per cent of her body fat over two years.

Lizzo now says she "never regrets a workout" and allows herself to enjoy food "without overindulging". However, years of speculating about the star's body lead the singer to harbour some 'dark thoughts' as she heartbreakingly admitted: "If everyone hates you and thinks you're a terrible person, then what's the point?''

It comes after Lizzo explained she prefers to call her weight loss journey a process of 'weight release' after admitting she tried medication GLP-1 after shutting down endless rumours about her new appearance.

Speaking to Women's Health UK, revealing she still thinks of herself as 'big' despite her weight loss, Lizzo said: "I like how I look now. I still think I'm big. I'm still wearing plus-size clothing. I have the same rolls. I got the same belly, the same thighs – I think I'm just a smaller version."
The road to weight loss hasn't been easy for Lizzo, who heartbreakingly admitted she would eat so much her stomach would hurt. Opening up about the realities of binging, she revealed: 'There were times when I would eat so much that my stomach hurt. When I was done, I would be so uncomfortable, I couldn't breathe and wouldn't let anyone know. I would hide it."

Thankfully, Lizzo says she is now proud of the person she's become and has built "inner confidence". However, she points out that you can't rely on others making you feel good, saying: "I can convince myself that I'm beautiful, my body fine, no matter how big or small. But reminding myself that you can't let others tell you who you are – that was hard work.'
Years of speculating about the star's appearance have culminated in Lizzo admitting she 'tried everything' to achieve the dramatic weight loss that has dumfounded her fans.

She told Trisha Paytas' Just Trish podcast that she began to take weight loss medication at the outset of her weight loss journey in 2023. But despite taking it she soon came to the conclusion that it was not a long-term solution.
She said: 'I tried everything. Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same thing.'
Lizzo also clapped back at anyone saying taking GLP-1 medication was 'cheating' saying this was a 'fat phobic' take. 'It's not easy. It's a drug to help somebody with something they're struggling with. I think people...it's their way of being fat phobic when you're telling someone they're cheating.'
Instead, to achieve her goal, the singer changed her habits around diet. The Good as Hell star had been following a plant-based diet for many years and was also vegan for three years from 2020 to 2023.

She's also been stunned by the comments people now say to her face, rather then behind her back NO WEIGH I've lost 3.5st on Mounjaro but its ruined so much – yes I'm thin, but I'm disgusted at a side effect no one talks about Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A WOMAN who has lost almost four stone on Mounjaro has admitted there are more than a few downsides. Sara-Jane has been on the weight loss jabs for the past six months, and has already managed to shed over three stone. "The things that Mounjaro has absolutely ruined for me," she began. "Much to my disgust, I'm back on the male radar again. "Don't hold a door for me, don't smile at me, don't even breathe in my direction." Sara-Jane insisted she "didn't lose this all to become visible again to your breed". "I will gain it all back out of spite just to sumo roll you into traffic!" she raged. "Leave me alone." She also revealed she's been having a "clothing identity crisis" since losing weight, and has been sticking to leggings and T-shirts. And when it comes to exercising, there's nothing Sara-Jane hates more than being asked to join group classes. "I will do weights alone in my bedroom. Matching yoga mats and a yummy mummy club every Wednesday is just never going to be for me!" she insisted. I've lost nearly 6 stone in 9 months on fat jabs - trolls call me 'lazy' & say it's the 'easy way out' but I don't care While she used to be able to avoid theme park rides due to her size, Sara-Jane now has no excuse to join her kids on rollercoasters. And the last thing on her list is that people now say their"most wild comments about you to your face". "Sorry Sue, I didn't actually ask about the lady in Take a Break magazine who jabbed herself in the toe and then had multiple organ failure. "Adding 'I'm sure you'll be fine though' doesn't make you any less of a w**ker. "But you carry on with the diet club my love and keep losing and gaining that same five pounds you've been losing and gaining for the last 10 years." Concluding, Sara-Jane said: "I wouldn't go as far as to say it's ruined my entire life but I am having to develop some new coping skills to deal with all this." What to do if you lose too much weight too quickly whilst on Mounjaro IF you're losing too much weight too quickly while on Mounjaro, it's important to take action to avoid potential health risks like muscle loss, malnutrition, dehydration, and fatigue. Here's what you can do: Evaluate Your Caloric Intake Mounjaro reduces appetite, which can make it easy to eat too little. If you're losing weight too fast (more than two to three lbs per week after the initial adjustment period), try: Tracking your food intake to ensure you're eating enough calories (apps like MyFitnessPal can help). Increasing protein intake to preserve muscle mass (aim for 0.6–1g per pound of body weight). Adding healthy fats and complex carbs (e.g., avocados, nuts, whole grains) for balanced energy. Adjust Your Dosage (With Doctor's Approval) If your weight loss is too rapid or causing side effects, your doctor may: Pause dose increases or lower your dosage. Adjust your treatment plan to stabilise your weight loss. Strength Training & Exercise To prevent muscle loss: Incorporate resistance training at least two to three times per week. Stay active with low-impact exercises like walking or yoga. Hydrate & Manage Electrolytes Drink enough water (Mounjaro can reduce thirst). Electrolytes matter - Consider adding magnesium, sodium, and potassium if you feel weak or fatigued. Monitor for Malnutrition & Deficiencies Rapid weight loss can cause vitamin/mineral deficiencies (especially B12, iron, and electrolytes). If you experience: Fatigue, hair loss, or dizziness, ask your doctor about supplements. Consider Further Medical Guidance If your weight loss is excessive or causing health concerns, speak with your healthcare provider. They might adjust your dosage, diet, or exercise plan to help stabilise your weight loss. In the comments section, others on the injections admitted they'd also noticed the same side effects - particularly what Sara-Jane had said about the attention she now gets from men. "Yes I've noticed I've suddenly become visible to men this past week or so!" one wrote. "The man thing!!! 100%," another added. "Legit had a comment from a customer at work say 'You're fit now you've lost weight - want to go for food? "Like wtf!" While someone else wrote: "I've never been on the male radar, I hope it doesn't start since I'm on this. "I'm scared now lol!"

I created the meme at the center of Lizzo's American Eagle feud with Sydney Sweeney... here is what I REALLY think

Sydney Sweeney 's American Eagle ad sparked a furor last week with even singer Lizzo poking fun at the on-screen star. The 37-year-old re-posted a meme of herself recreating the controversial poster advertising jeans - but where exactly did it originate? The singer - who has been vocal about her left-leaning politics - took to Instagram with an AI-generated image of herself in the same denim outfit and pose as Sydney. The intention behind Lizzo's post appeared to be a criticism of the ad - as fans rushed to throw support behind her clap back at the brand. But the original creator of the image, Kevin Flynn, has since spoken to Daily Mail about how he became embroiled in the public feud. He revealed that he had no idea Lizzo would repost the photo or that it would become the center of high-profile celebrity drama. Kevin said a friend sent him the first TMZ article about the meme but he didn't recognize it at first. He explained: 'I saw it and said, "Why does that look familiar?" Then I realized I made it. And I think it's hilarious. She made an entire music video recreating the meme, and made a whole new song about it. 'She wasn't even involved in this whatsoever until the meme. That is insanely funny to me.' After the post went viral and the story was picked up by national news outlets, Kevin proudly did a victory lap on his X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram pages, writing: 'So, funny story, but I think I started a full blown beef between Lizzo and Sydney Sweeney. 'Lizzo reposted my AI meme from yesterday calling out Sydney Sweeney and now it's all over TMZ lmao…' Lizzo fans interpreted the meme as having a significant political message, with the most liked comment on the singer's post reading: 'My jeans are black. My genes built this country. My jeans are made from the same cotton this country was built on.' One tweet about the meme read: 'Lizzo's "meme heard round the world" was made to unify Black woman in a time when Trump's America is focused on white genetics.' But Kevin has since fired back. He responded on social media, jokingly writing: 'Actually it was made by a white person... and I made it with hate in my heart.' He also screenshotted the interaction and posted it to his Instagram. The mastermind behind the 'WhitePeopleHumor' page has become known for making outrageous statements in an attempt to elicit reactions and engagement from people on both sides of the political spectrum. Asked whether he was trying to get a political message across with the meme, Kevin told the Daily Mail: 'I'm never trying to send a message. It's always about humor and making people laugh. 'The second I start actually caring about things, especially two women fighting, the less funny it becomes.' A later post from his Instagram page making fun of Trump had a caption that read: 'Hey MAGA people following from the Lizzo debacle, just a quick note, but we make fun of everyone on this page…' So what inspired Kevin to create the image if it wasn't politically motivated? The meme creator said: 'Honestly I was just trying to justify my monthly AI subscriptions. I tried Grok first but it didn't look like Lizzo enough. I kept prompting it... but I just went with ChatGPT and it nailed it on the first try.' When it comes to his thoughts on the American Eagle ad that kicked off the controversy, Kevin said: 'I don't think it was originally meant to be about race. I could be wrong. 'From a marketing perspective it boosted American Eagle's market value by $400 million so it was definitely successful.' Kevin's original post of the image on July 30 included a watermark with his name on the top right of the meme, but that watermark was notably absent from the version Lizzo posted to her account. Either the singer removed the watermark herself before posting, or she lifted the meme from a different repost which had already removed it. Kevin regularly creates original content and memes for his 'WhitePeopleHumor' Instagram page and other social media pages that he manages, which in total boast around 20 million followers across accounts. Meme creators rarely receive credit for their work as the images they create get reposted and shared countless times. But Kevin is unbothered by the lack of public acknowledgment and happy with the way the meme he created took off and became part of a national conversation. Kevin said: 'I didn't even ask for credit. Honestly I don't think it would have gone as viral as it did if she did credit me. Her taking ownership and making it all about her being Black made it a race thing that every news channel went with.

Lila Moss shows off her figure in leopard print bikini during on vacay with mom Kate

was soaking up the sun with her mom Kate in Formentera this week when she showed off a large white bandage on her bottom. The model, 22, wore a skimpy leopard print bikini while on the beach with Kate, 51, during their summer getaway - her glucose monitor for her type 1 diabetes was also on show. While at the beach one monitor was visible on her arm and her side, while the plaster was placed on the opposite side of her body. A representative for Lila has been contacted by Daily Mail for comment Lila looked stunning in her bandeau bikini as she wrapped a towel around her after taking a refreshing dip in the sea. Meanwhile Kate showed off her youthful figure in a brown triangle bikini and stylish shades as she spent quality time with her daughter. Just last month Lila fronted a new campaign as Barbie launched its first ever 'diabetic doll'. The 'diabetic' doll features a continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump - which Lila has spoken about having to use in the past. The toy company says it made the first Barbie with type 1 diabetes (T1D) so more children could see themselves reflected in their range of dolls. The young model previously discussed her condition during a segment on Vogue's In The Bag YouTube after making the unconventional decision to wear the monitor on the catwalk. She said: 'I have some sugar tablets, in case my blood sugar goes low. I'm diabetic so I have this which controls a pod on my leg, which gives me insulin. 'This is very important to keep in my bag, it comes with me everywhere.' The star - worried her essential device could get lost - added: 'I even have an apple air-tag to follow it around with my phone.' Speaking about her condition in 2020, Lila told The Kit: 'I think not many people know that I have diabetes. It's not visible from the outside, so no one would really know just by looking at you.' Type 1 diabetes causes the level of glucose (sugar) in the blood to become too high. It happens when the body cannot produce enough of a hormone called insulin, which controls blood glucose. Sufferers require daily insulin injections to keep their blood glucose levels under control. Kate has been on a recent health kick after turning her back on her wild partying ways of the past. She was thought to have given up alcohol in 2017 in favor of juice fasts and reformer Pilates, and even started to sell her own range of teas and skincare products through her beauty and wellness brand, Cosmoss. And while she has long struggled to give up her nicotine habit, just two years ago Kate - once hailed the 'greatest smoker of all time' - was seen puffing away on a vape in an attempt to give up the cigarettes.
