MAFS' Lucinda Light reveals sweet act to support Katie Johnson: 'Queen'

Yahoo29-01-2025

Married At First Sight viewers have rallied around Katie Johnson following her disastrous wedding to Tim Gromie, including one of the show's most memorable participants. Lucinda Light, who was a fan favourite on last year's season, encouraged fans to support the 2025 bride after Tim repeatedly turned down her advances and told producers that he had 'no attraction' to her.
Taking to social media on Wednesday evening, Lucinda described Katie as 'divine' and 'radiant' and said she understood how she felt after having a similar experience on the show. She also told her followers that she's invited Katie to appear as a guest at her upcoming live show in Brisbane.
'Brisbane friends, if you're coming to my show this Saturday night, you're in for a special treat - Katie will be there, along with other MAFS friends,' she wrote. 'Let's come together as a community and wrap this exquisite human in love and support. I want her to truly feel us standing behind her in solidarity.
'This experiment demands immense courage and vulnerability, and last night, my heart shattered for her. She deserves so much more! What a queen!'

While fans took to the comments to criticise MAFS producers for pairing Katie with Tim, many people said they were relieved to hear that she has Lucinda's support.
'I'm so glad she has you to guide her through,' one person wrote, while another added, 'Wonderful that you two have connected'.
'Last night I so wished you were on this series to support Katie, it was so hard to watch, but there are big and wonderful things waiting for her, she did not deserve what she got!' someone else shared.
Fans noticed after the 2025 cast was announced that Tim's cast photo looked remarkably different to his co-stars', suggesting that he chose not to participate in the official press photo day and has distanced himself from the series.
An insider tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Tim is 'refusing to do interviews' about his time on MAFS and wants 'nothing to do with the show'.

'Tim is really fearful the show is going to affect his employment as a primary school teacher, that's why he's deleted all socials, is refusing to do interviews and wants nothing to do with it,' they share.
'He feels he was stitched up from the start and is now just trying to get through it with minimal damage to his career and reputation.'

ABC via Disney+ Since being posted to TikTok, this clip has been liked almost 200k times, and racked up thousands of comments — with many of them saying the same thing. 'this would be called woke today,' a popular comment reads. Somebody else echoed: 'They tried to do a story like this these days MAGA would call it 'woke' and call for a boycott of everyone involved.' 'Funny how back then the audience would have perceived the dad as a 'good man', whereas now the same audience would call him 'woke/soft/leftist,'' another user added. 'now you would have 300 guys complaining it's woke,' one more agreed, while somebody else observed: 'It's almost like 'wokeness' that people keep referring to has always been there, it just wasn't wrapped up in inflated egos fueled by political rhetoric.' And one more concluded: 'I got so many of my lessons in being a man from 90s sitcoms. Just human lessons, not activists lessons.'

Katie Gaudreau, Sister of Johnny and Matthew, Shares Engagement Photos Ahead of Summer Wedding

Katie Gaudreau, the younger sister of the late Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, is a glowing bride-to-be as she prepares to walk down the aisle next month. In exclusive photos shared with Us Weekly, Katie, 26, and her fiancé, Devin Joyce, are all smiles ahead of their July 11 wedding in Philadelphia. Katie and Devin were forced to reschedule the original date of August 2024 after Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver while riding their bicycles the night before the wedding. Johnny and Matthew won't be far from their sister on her big day, which is being planned by Kyle Michelle Weddings. In September 2024, Katie revealed she had etched 'J+M' into her silver wedding band, which is front and center in some of the engagement photos. Katie Gaudreau Posts Childhood Photos With Johnny, Matthew, Sister Kristen: 'Forever Us Four' 'Forever with me now,' Katie wrote via her Instagram Story at the time. Aimee Beam Brides styled Katie's hair for the photoshoot, and Kristyn Kennedy did her makeup. Afrik Armando took the pictures. Johnny and Matthew were also survived by their parents, Guy and Jane, and their older sister Kristen. Johnny was married to his wife, Meredith, and the couple shared three children: daughter Noa, 2, and sons Johnny, 15 months, and Carter, who was born in April, seven months after Johnny's death. Matthew was married to his wife, Madeline, who gave birth to the couple's first baby, son Tripp, in December 2024, four months after Matthew's death. Devin and Katie celebrated their ninth anniversary of dating in March, which Katie marked with a post via social media. 'I couldn't be more grateful to have you by my side,' she wrote. 'This past year has tested us in ways we never could have imagined, but our love has always come out stronger. You've shown up in ways that mean more than I can put into words, and I know I wouldn't have gotten through it without you.' Katie continued, 'Since high school I've been waiting for the day I get to call you my husband….even though I call you my husband now I can't wait for July 11th to officially be your wife. No matter what life throws our way, I'll always be up for singing off-key and dancing terribly with you — whether it's in a bar or our little kitchen — forever and more.' Shortly after Johnny and Matthew were killed, Katie said her brothers were 'so excited for us to get married.' Katie Gaudreau Shows Off Save the Date — and Huge Engagement Ring — For Rescheduled Wedding 'When the day comes, they are going to be dancing and celebrating more than anyone,' she shared via her Instagram Story. Last month, Katie said she was 'feeling every emotion possible' at a meeting to discuss final details about the wedding. 'Sadness, exhaustion, nervousness, guilt, stress, love, and happiness,' she shared via Instagram. 'For months they have been working so hard behind the scenes making sure everything is running smoothly and that my family and I don't have to worry about any of the big decisions.' Katie added, 'I am so incredibly lucky to have you all in my corner and helping me through this process. I can't wait for you to all see the incredible job they have done to help make this day special.'

Memory loss and hair falling out in 'clumps': Katie Thurston details impact of cancer treatment

Katie Thurston is suffering memory loss and her hair is coming out in "clumps" amid her cancer treatment. The 34-year-old star is battling stage four cancer and though she is still feeling optimistic, she admitted there are days when she allows herself to feel bad because having the disease "sucks". Speaking in a video shared to Instagram, she said: 'I wanted to do weekly check-ins that are just like uncut, raw emotions of whatever comes to my mind. I just finished my second month of treatment and if you're asking how long treatment is, technically forever. "I am optimistic about medical advancements in the future. Fingers crossed as a stage 4 girly. 'But right now, after finishing two months of my medication, my hair is coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps. Working on that. I'm losing my memory. That's great. Going through customs and them being like, 'Where are you coming from?' And I looked at him and I was like, 'I don't remember. I don't remember.'' The 'Bachelorette' star joked she and her husband Jeff Arcuri got into a "little disagreement" over her memory loss. She added: 'I was like, 'This has happened before.' He was like, 'When?' I was like, 'I don't know but I know it has!' 'We're able to laugh about it now. But yeah, cancer is s***. Sometimes I'm like, 'Stop feeling bad for yourself.' Other times I'm like, 'You're allowed to feel bad for yourself. Cancer f****** sucks.'' Katie is currently having to make "big decisions" about how to treat the cancer in her liver, whether that be through radiation, ablation, histotripsy, and explained medication zoladex - which is used to treat hormone-dependent cancers - didn't work so she is switching to lupron, and if that doesn't prove effective either, she may need to have her ovaries removed. She added: "Not ideal. But the vacation was nice. Now I'm back at it again in New York City trying to live my best life as a f*****cancer patient. "Sorry I'm not going to edit that out. I'm just going to end this because I want it just to be my truth, I guess. Anyway, happy Sunday.' Katie is proud to be a "survivor" amid her treatment. She noted: 'Anyway, it's National Cancer Survivors Day. Every day that I'm alive, I'm a survivor. So go me, I guess.'
