Daily Mirror10-07-2025
An actress, who shot to fame in hit Netflix series One Day, has reportedly signed up to participate in the next series of The Great British Celebrity Bake Off
Rumours surrounding which stars are set to appear in the next series of The Great British Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer have already started swirling, and the last name to be thrown into the ring is a famous actress.
The hit celebrity edition of the show, which tends to air every spring on Channel 4, sees four famous faces join hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding in the tent each week to compete to be crowned Star Baker.

This year's series saw the likes of Roman Kemp, Kate Garraway, Gloria Hunniford, Chris Ramsey and Scarlette Douglas show off their baking skills.

Following in their footsteps is Hollywood actress Ambika Mod, who has reportedly signed up for the next series of The Great British Celebrity Bake Off.
"Bosses were thrilled to sign Ambika up - she's a fan of the show so loved doing it," a source told The Sun.

Reach PLC has contacted Channel 4 for comment.
Ambika, 29, is an actress, comedian and writer, who is best known for starring in BBC's This Is Going to Hurt and Netflix series One Day.
She played Emma Morley in One Day, which is an adaptation of David Nicholls' novel of the same name. The series proved to be immensely popular with Netflix viewers and saw Ambika's fame skyrocket overnight.

In 2025, the actress has appeared in Black Bag, Disney+ thriller The Stolen Girl and action comedy Sacrifice.
Ambika is the latest star to be rumoured to be appearing on The Great British Celebrity Bake Off, with names such as JoJo Siwa and Molly-Mae Hague having also been linked to the show so far.

It's rumoured that Love Island star Molly could be set to add baking to her skillset, while JoJo is reportedly set to add the show to her long list of TV ventures, following her stint on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year.
Edith Bowman is also said to be taking part in the Channel 4 series, in addition to comedian Babatunde Aleshe.
Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond host both the civilian and celebrity versions of Bake Off, while Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are usually on judging duties.
However, the 2025 series of Celebrity Bake Off saw Prue replaced by her close friend Caroline Waldegrave.

And Morticia sees in him all those nervous things about it being your first day at school, which is always traumatic for the person going to school, and also for the parent." She added, "But on a personal level, I don't think I ever didn't cry when I dropped off my kids for the first day of school. Each year, it was something, another challenge for them." ‌ Watch Wednesday on Netflix for free with Sky from £15 Sky Get the deal here Product Description Zeta-Jones, who is married to fellow acting legend Michael Douglas, shares two children with him: Carys Zeta Douglas, aged 22, and Dylan Douglas, aged 24. Netflix exposes hidden WWE area fans never get to see and this is what it's for

Some might know about it but Netflix offers first deep dive into how it works on each WWE show Netflix have uncovered a hidden WWE area that fans never get to see during shows and revealed exactly what it is for. ‌ New docuseries Unreal, now streaming on the platform is revealing some rarely seen insight into the making of the wrestling company. According to its synopsis, fans are invited for the first time ever, to step into the WWE writer's room and outside the ring among other places with their favourite WWE Superstars. ‌ Cameras take viewers where the drama is just as intense offstage as it is under the spotlight across this unique five-part series showing behind the scenes like never before. ‌ One of those areas is a key place where everything is controlled, whether you are watching Raw, Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania. It is known as the Gorilla position. The most dedicated are probably already well aware of this location, but for those who are unfamiliar - it is affectionately named after former wrestler Robert James Marella, who went by the name Gorilla Monsoon. After Monsoon retired from action in the ring, he worked as one of WWE's most popular commentators. ‌ He also spent time as a backstage manager. This is where he would be consistently spotted pulling the strings in the small area between backstage, and the entrance. Hence, why it is now referred to as Gorilla position. It has certainly evolved since those days and even those who know of its existence are perhaps given their first proper look at how it is used for every WWE show. As WWE's Head of Content Paul Levesque, otherwise known as Triple H, explains: Years go when TV production started to become a thing, Gorilla Monsoon a very famous wrestler, he was timing things and controlling things from the area right before talent would walk out to go to the ring. ‌ "That became known as Gorilla Position. Gorilla Position in today's world, it is the epicenter of everything we do. The show is run from there." Bruce Prichard, WWE Executive Director adds: "The Gorilla position is probably the most important position in the arena. You basically control the world that night. Your world., the World Wresting Entertainment is controlled from the Gorilla position. ‌ A diagram is shown of the typical layout of Gorilla position, while workers construct the space from scratch for a production of Raw. Ed Koskey, the SVP of Creative Writing says "The Gorilla positioin is very unique. In every arena, it's custom built, However, the inside and the workings of it are the same. There's primarily three tables set up inside Gorilla position. There's one table where Triple H and Bruce Prichard are sitting. Another table where Billy Kidman, who is our producer responsible for timing out the show and keeping tabs on times. Next to him will sit the respective match producer. ‌ Despite this simple setup, footage shows at least a dozen additional people standing around the three desks, as the match producer calls through the action. It is also pointed out that every single producer at WWE is a former talent with extensive experience of performing in the ring themselves. Match producer Chris Park, used to wrestle under as Abyss and explains his role in Gorilla position. Not only is he making sure viewers at home get the best view and understand what is going on but he is constantly in the ears of the referees. ‌ He says: "So the mechanics during the match for me and the reason I'm wearing a headset is I'm talking to the truck, keeping them about 10 or 15 seconds ahead of what's going on in the ring so that the cameras capture the story that we're trying to tell. "Another thing I'm doing on that headset as well is I'm talking to the referees, the referees can hear me." Whatever producers need to tell talent, whether it is to speed up, increase energy or make their mark, the message is delivered via the referees. They are also able to give feedback on the wrestlers' wellbeing. Triple H concludes: "Our business is telling stories and the epicentre of making that happen in real time, live, is Gorilla position."

Netflix's WWE Unreal shows scenes never aired before including move banned for decade

Netflix docuseries reveals some of the WWE's recent secrets during a title match New Netflix docuseries WWE Unreal has revealed scenes that were not originally aired during the original live broadcast of one its wrestling events. ‌ This included the use of a move which has been banned for a decade. ‌ A new docuseries debuting on the streamer today, titled Unreal gives fans a rare insight into what really goes on behind the scenes, to make a show for the WWE. This includes a first ever peek behind the door of the writer's room where former superstars including Paul Levesque, formerly Triple H in the ring and now Head of Content for the company make the big decisions. ‌ Previously, Levesque has explained that WWE often thinks of its storylines in seasons, with its biggest often utilised during the Road to Wrestlemania. Earlier this year, the Wrestling giant made its debut on Netflix after a bumper deal was agreed between the companies. In the five-part series, the second episode shows just how creative they can be. This included how they portrayed the rivalry between then undisputed champion Cody Rhodes and his new rival Kevin Owens. ‌ They put together a scene between the wrestlers out of the ring and away from their own television cameras ahead of the show. Cody explains: "Triple H had this idea for Kevin to beat me up outside my tour bus off camera. We're gonna hope fans capture it and, of course, the did." This was a trick that the creative team seemingly repeated. After a Smackdown Saturday main event in December last year, when the cameras had apparently stopped rolling for the live broadcast, the show actually kept going. Included in this moment, was Kevin Owens, using a move that is generally banned and has been for more than a decade in the industry because of how dangerous it is - the piledriver. ‌ Bruce Prichard, WWE Executive Director explains: "The piledriver for so long was just a move that internally we had banned from using just because of the danger it does present." Cody Rhodes adds: "Pulling out a piledriver is something that has been so taboo and not done in WWE for a decade. It was a very good call." One reason explained in the writer's room for doing this is to keep fans talking about the show after it has finished airing on TV and leading all the way up to the next episode. It is no surprise that this was done shortly before WWE's Netflix debut and while it was still being broadcast on NBC in America. ‌ Following the conclusion of that match during Smackdown, the team had Cody Rhodes celebrating his win, with the commentary team thanking the audience for tuning in. However, Triple H then sends word for Kevin to 'knock him on his ass and then just piledrive him'. Owens does just that, as many fans film the moment on their fans and post it on social media. To add to the drama, Owens stands on Cody Rhodes as he is stretchered off then Triple H appears himself to confront Owens, after being the one to deliver all his instructions. Owens and Triple H then reconcile backstage and congratulate each other on their performances.
