Arizona Cardinals OL Isaiah Adams names most outstanding player from preseason game

USA Today4 days ago
Adams continues to stack solid performances, and has taken them from the practice field to under the lights.
The Arizona Cardinals had a number of players turn in good performances in the team's preseason opener last Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. We named a few players who helped themselves in the 20-17 win.
But who was the most outstanding player of the night for the Cardinals?
According to Pro Football Network, it was right guard Isaiah Adams.
The presumed starting right guard for the Arizona Cardinals, coming off just five starts as a rookie, much is expected from Isaiah Adams in year two. And in the preseason opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, Adams proved the coaching staff correct with the sentiment that he can hold it down at that spot full-time.
At 6'4″ and 315 pounds, Adams is known as a mover in the run game. While he showed that, he demonstrated an improved pass-blocking ability, making his presence more invaluable for the Cardinals.
Adams continues to really establish him as the guy deserving to start. Even with Will Hernandez returning, Adams has been great all offseason and has received praise from head coach Jonathan Gannon multiple times publicly.
It was just one preseason game, but he is stacking those performances from camp to under the lights.
It is exactly what you want to see from a second-year player.

Travis Kelce Opens Up About Taylor Swift Romance: 'It Just Took the F*** Off'

Travis Kelce says all those entertainment industry opportunities might have hurt him on the field. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end says in a new interview that Hollywood calling in the wake of his popularity explosion over the last couple years came at a price after his team came up short at the Super Bowl LIX in February. More from The Hollywood Reporter Taylor Swift Reveals New Album 'The Life of a Showgirl' in Teaser for Travis Kelce's Podcast Taylor Swift Confirmed to Make Guest Appearance on Travis Kelce's 'New Heights' Podcast How to Watch the 2025 U.S. Gymnastics Championships Online Free 'Win a Super Bowl is the only goal,' Kelce told GQ. 'It's the only goal. It's every goal. I think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up. And opportunities came up where I was excited to venture into a new world of acting and being an entertainer. I don't say this as 'I shouldn't have done it.' I'm just saying that my work ethic is such that I have so much pride in how I do things that I never want the product to tail off, and I feel like these past two years haven't been to my standard. I just have such a motivation to show up this year for my guys.' Kelce might be a tad hard on himself here. The man has gone to the Super Bowl five times and won three — including in 2024. On the other hand, only he knows if he truly gave the last couple seasons his all. Over the last two years, Kelce took a gig as a game show host for Prime Video's Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity, took a dramatic turn in the Ryan Murphy FX thriller Grotesquerie and had a role in the current Netflix hit Happy Gilmore 2, among other gigs. In the interview, Kelce also discussed his relationship with Taylor Swift on the eve of a highly anticipated New Heights podcast episode (which drops Wednesday at 7 p.m.) where Swift is set to discuss her new album, The Life of a Showgirl. As for his relationship with Swift, the NFL star said he admires the athleticism she displayed on her Eras Tour, saying her effort surpasses what NFL players go through. 'She will never tell anyone that she is an athlete,' he said. 'But I've seen what she goes through. I've seen the amount of work that she puts on her body, and it's mind-blowing … [Swift's performance] is arguably more exhausting than how much I put in on a Sunday, and she's doing it three, four, five days in a row.' Also, that he values having a partner who 'who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions.' Added Kelce: 'Whenever I'm with her, it feels like we're just regular people. When there is not a camera on us, we're just two people that are in love. It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out, but I would say that it's as normal of … It happened very organically even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. It still happened very organically … we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with. We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took the fuck off.' Broncos 27, Cardinals 7: Takeaways from offensive performance on offense

The Arizona Cardinals played their second preseason game Saturday night, and it was not a pretty game. They were blown out by the Denver Broncos 27-7. It wasn't a good game on either side of the ball. Offensively, it was bad. What can we take away from the offensive performance? Feels good with Jacoby Brissett For the second straight game, new Cardinals backup Jacoby Brissett impressed. This time, he played only two drives in the first quarter. The first one went only six yards in five plays, picking up a first down, but he led the Cardinals to another touchdown, throwing a beautiful pass to receiver Simi Fehoko for the score. He was 6-of-8 passing for 57 yards and a touchdown, and he picked up a first down on a two-yard quarterback sneak. It gives fans comfort knowing that there is a capable, even competent, backup behind Kyler Murray. However, we must also remember that the five possessions he has played in two preseason games, while three have results in touchdowns, they were all against their opponents' backups. The offensive numbers are just bad The Cardinals gained only 135 yards of offense the entire night. They had only eight first downs. If you take away Brissett's two possessions, quarterback Clayton Tune led the Cardinals on eight drives that netted 62 yards and three first downs. They went three-and-out five times. There was no running game Now, the Cardinals didn't play their starters, so no starting offensive line and no James Conner or Trey Benson. But even still, they gained only 36 yards on 17 carries. At least there were no turnovers If there was one bright side to the Cardinals' abysmal offensive night was the fact that they did not turn the ball over. They didn't fumble at all and no interceptions were thrown, so at least it was a turnover-free game. 3 Arizona Cardinals players who improved their stock in preseason loss to the Broncos

In a bad game against the Broncos, few impressed. The Arizona Cardinals lost their second preseason game Saturday night, a 27-7 defeat to the Denver Broncos in which they allowed 562 yards and only gained 135. They didn't play any of their starters expect for rookie cornerback Will Johnson and new linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither. There weren't a lot of positives, but a few players helped their stock as we approach final cuts and the 53-man roster. Which players stood out? QB Jacoby Brissett Brissett doesn't have any worry about making the roster, as he has the backiup quarterback job locked up. However, he led the Cardinals to another touchdown, giving him three touchdown passes in five preseason possessions. They have come against opponent backups, but the ease with which he operates the offense and moved the ball down the field, there is confidence that the offense will be okay should Kyler Murray ever get hurt. WR Simi Fehoko Fehoko had his first preseason action, missing last week's game with a quad injury. He had two receptions for 21 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown reception. He also made a special teams tackle. He is a player most fans won't know, but the TV broadcast emphasized he is good on special teams. He showed enough to probably secure a spot on the roster, especially considering he ha almost all his salary guaranteed in 2025. K Chad Ryland He only had the one extra point and did not have a field-goal attempt, But before the game, he drilled a 72-yard field goal. There is no issue with his leg. That was about it. It was mostly players hurting themselves. Get more Cardinals and NFL coverage from Cards Wire's Jess Root and others by listening to the latest on the Rise Up, See Red podcast.
