I tested the EA FC 25 gameplay to see what the Season Finale Update changed
Some big gameplay changes were made in EA FC 25 Title Update 15, so I put it to the test to see what's got better, or worse
EA Sports has released its Season Finale update in EA FC 25 with big changes to passing, heading, and goalkeeping, but how different does the game actually feel?
The EA FC 25 gameplay and meta has changed multiple times since its release last year, and after EA Sports dropped Title Update 15 earlier this week, the game has started to feel different for players once again. From first-time through balls to long-range trivela shots, there's been a host of different ways to create chances and score goals in EA FC 25, but the EA FC 25 Season Finale update has claimed big changes have been made to short passing, heading and goalkeeping specifically, which could see the meta shift again.
Headers in attack have been nothing short of useless in EA FC 25, killing the overpowered Aerial meta that we saw in EA FC 24. But, improved header accuracy is one of the biggest updates in Title Update 15, so this meta could be making a comeback. Another big change is that players with high passing stats will now be able to complete ground passes more regularly, regardless of PlayStyles, and the fact that they couldn't is something which we've complained about in the past.
Lastly, goalkeepers with the Rush Out PlayStyle are not as overpowered when rushing off their line, so the acceleration has been dropped. So, how accurate are these changes and has the Season Finale update refreshed the meta in EA FC 25? Let's take a look...

EA FC 25 Season Finale update review
We jumped onto EA FC 25 for a few hours to test out the Season Final update and see if we could really feel these gameplay changes in-game.
Ground passing
To test out if ground passing had improved for players with high passing stats (it's crazy this even needed an update), we first jumped into Clubs, building one pro with 91 passing and zero passing PlayStyles to see how good he was at passing. We've tested this out before to prove how overpowered PlayStyles were, and the pro with no passing PlayStyles struggled.
Well, to put it simply, ground passing wasn't much of an issue, and it has improved. My player was able to make accurate passes along the floor, mainly short distances. Under pressure, my pro was able to squeeze passes through tight spaces, and even though there were still some issues with first-time passes, it was way more accurate than before.
I then jumped into Ultimate Team, where I mainly used an Evolved Conor Bradley (I'm a Liverpool fan, I only evolve Liverpool players so don't judge) with all the passing PlayStyles, two passing PlayStyle Plus' and 90 passing against an Evolved Trey Nyoni (again, don't judge), with just one passing PlayStyle but 90 passing.
In Ultimate Team, there did seem to still be a big gap between passing ability, even though they both had 90 passing, but it wasn't like Nyoni was unusable. All in all, passing has improved, but PlayStyles are still extremely important.
Heading
Sorry to say it, but heading still feels useless following the update. Players with high heading stats, the Aerial PlayStyle and/or the Power Header PlayStyle never consistently got headers on target in attack, with plenty blazing over the bar like we've seen in the past.
Now, I did notice that from corners I was winning headers way more often, but the accuracy just wasn't there, so it doesn't look like the Aerial meta is returning. Is that a good or a bad thing? I guess time will tell.
Goalkeeping
Goalkeepers are weird. Some games, my 'keeper with Rush Out PlayStyle Plus could feel rapid off his line and make crucial saves, and sometimes, a poppadom would've been just as useful between the sticks, and this was before the update. But after the update, my 'keeper does feel slower, just like EA wanted.
To me, goalkeepers were never overpowered in the first place, and it didn't seem like a crucial update that needed to be made, but now it's here, I can't say that it makes much of a noticeable difference, so there's no need to worry here.
Elsewhere, the game felt pretty much the same. No new metas have seemed to appear from the hours I have spent on the game, so this 'major' Season Finale update doesn't really that major after all.

Wirtz given brutal verdict as Liverpool target fails to respond after latest bid
Florian Wirtz is expected to join Liverpool this summer, with the Reds set to lodge a fourth bid for the Bayer Leverkusen star while he is away on international duty with Germany Florian Wirtz has come in for criticism over his performance in Germany's 2-0 defeat to France in their third place play-off match in the Nations League. Goals from Kylian Mbappe and Michael Olise earned France the victory, with Wirtz failing to make much of an impact. The 22-year-old is expected to make a big money move to Liverpool this summer, with the Reds set to make a fourth and final offer worth around £118million for Wirtz. And against the backdrop of Liverpool's ongoing negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen, Wirtz was not at his best against France. The playmaker failed in all of his attempts to dribble past Chelsea defender Malo Gusto and missed an opportunity to equalise in the first-half when his effort hit the post. German newspaper Bild gave Wirtz a four in their player ratings. "Another performance with both highlights and shadows from the Leverkusen player," they wrote. "A weak free kick into the wall. "Missed the chance to make it 1-0 after 36 minutes because his shot hit the post. Not the magician, not the leader he's often been in Leverkusen recently." Reflecting on the game, Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann said: "I think it was more our team than on Wednesday [against Portugal] - ball possession, counter movements, counter pressing. I think it was OK today. "We created a lot of chances, but we have to be honest as well, it's football. [Scoring] goals is the most important topic, and we missed a lot of chances today. "Normally, when you create such good chances like we did in the first half, you have to get the lead, but not only one goal. Three or four could [have been] possible in the first half. "It was similar to the feeling we had [against] Spain [in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals]. The feeling [ahead] of the qualification games is a lot better than it was on Wednesday. So, we keep on going." Germany defender Jonathan Tah added: "It's a different feeling [to Wednesday] because I think we played a pretty good game today, especially in the first half. [We] deserved to score at least three goals and it hurts at this moment, because I think we deserved more at the end of this game. "We need to have this determination and we had that in the past. It's not the problem of two years, it's what's just in this game today. At the end, we played a really good team that used counterattacks, and they're good at this. That's how they scored. But as I said, we deserved more." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Steven Gerrard gave Liverpool 'idiots' what for after stressing him out on the biggest night of them all
Gerrard found himself drawn to nearby spectators who were raising his blood pressure Unimpressed Steven Gerrard was left on the brink of combustion by a bunch of Liverpool boffins who could barely contain hold themselves together on a landmark Liverpool night back in 2019. Gerrard was in attendance for the Reds' apparent stress-free 2-0 win over Tottenham in Madrid but found himself drawn to nearby spectators who were raising his blood pressure with Mo Salah scoring early and Divock Origi sealing the victory late on. The Liverpool legend – 12 months into his Rangers reign – was left smarting by a smattering of over-enthusiastic number crunchers featuring author Ian Graham – who has bared all on his time at Anfield in his bestselling book 'How To Win The Premier League'. The Kop legend was on cloud nine at the final whistle but had a quick word with those he reckoned caused him undue added stress. Graham said: "I'd watched the game in the stands with my colleagues from the scouting department. The initial euphoria at the final whistle had died down and we were watching the players celebrate and get ready for the presentation of the trophy. "There was a tap on my shoulder: it was Steven Gerrard, the former Liverpool captain and one of the club's greatest ever players. He'd watched from the row behind ours. He told us he'd never been so nervous at a game - as a player, manager, or spectator. I agreed, saying it had been unbearable to watch. "He hadn't been worried about the game, he explained, but watching our extreme anxiety for 90 minutes - biting our nails and putting our heads in our hands at every Spurs chance - had rubbed off on him. He said: "'I wouldn't have been nervous at all if I wasn't sat behind you idiots, watching you kick every ball.'"

Neil Lennon reveals Jeremie Frimpong and current Celtic star used to inspire Dunfermline youngsters
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) NEIL LENNON'S footballing philosophy has always been if a kid's good enough he's not going to be ignored. It's a principle the Northern Irishman will adhere to in his new job as Dunfermline manager. Both were blooded at first-team level by Lennon and have gone on to enjoy stellar careers. Homegrown winger Forrest scored on his Celtic debut as a sub against Motherwell in 2010 and has since, become the club's most decorated player, edging ahead of Bobby Lennox this season with 26 trophies. Dutch full-back Frimpong arrived from Manchester City for just £350,000 in September 2019 and was quickly thrown in against Falkirk in a League Cup tie. Within just 16 months he was on the move to German side Bayer Leverkusen for £11.5million plus a major sell-on percentage that has recently earned Celts a further £5m following his £30m switch to English champions Liverpool. Lennon said: 'You can say to the young players, 'this is what you can achieve if you really put your mind to it and look after yourself and protect your talent'. 'Young players here, if they're good enough they're in and I've already been impressed with a few of them.' Lennon reckons his young Pars can have no better role model than Forrest, who has scored in each of his 16 seasons as a Celt. He said: 'I'm so proud of Jamesy. Wonderful, you couldn't write a better story than when he got the last-minute goal against St Mirren in the final league game. 'What a player. He was like that when he was 18. He's so humble. He's never changed. Unseen moment Celtic icons congratulate current stars on way up to collect the Scottish Cup after big win over Rangers 'He shies away from all the spotlight and he just gets on with his football. 'He's one of the most exciting players Celtic have ever had, really. 'Jamesy would drive at you from the left, he'd drive at you from the right. He's a great finisher. 'He had his ups and downs with injuries, but if you talk to every player or every manager who's worked with him, he's just been a joy to work with. 'I managed him twice and he always delivered. 'I loved him. I loved watching him play because he was different. 'He wanted to take people on. That was his remit when he was younger. I said, 'I want you to run at people'. He was brilliant at it. He was a really good finisher as well. 'I'm delighted for him, he's had a mega career. 'It's incredible what he has achieved and you wouldn't know it because he just shrugs his shoulders and wants to get the next one! 'But the consistency he had and the talent and he's not lost that change of pace, either. He can do you from a standing position. 'His finishing has always been top class with both feet. 'I'll try and get him here. I'll have a chat! 5 Lennon also talked up Celtic's most decorated player James Forrest Credit: SNS 'You get a huge amount of satisfaction from seeing players come through like that. 'Jeremie's another one. He's just gone to Liverpool. I get a lot of satisfaction from that as well, having worked with him for a couple of seasons. 'And what an impact he had for us at Celtic. 'Then he's gone on to do amazing things in Germany to the point where he's now signing for the Premier League champions. You get a buzz out of that. 'I couldn't keep Jeremie out, he was that good. 'We had good players at the club at the time, but once we saw him training, he was just taking our breath away.' Lennon is thrilled to be back in pressure-cooker management with the Pars, no matter the pleasure of being paid handsomely to talk about elite football. At one point during last season's Champions League coverage, he revelled in a TV analyst stint alongside legend Clarence Seedorf and mentor Martin O'Neill. The trio made for brilliant, entertaining punditry and the no-nonsense Lennon is perfectly at home in that company. However, he feels he's at his best in the heat of a touchline gig. He said: 'I like the stimulation. Don't get me wrong, I loved the punditry work, the European stuff, the Scottish stuff and all the work I did in Ireland as well. 5 Frimpong and Forrest celebrate a goal against Ross County in 2019 Credit: Kenny Ramsay - The Sun Glasgow 'But my reason to be is coaching and I like winning things. 'That is what I want to bring to Dunfermline. It's a big club, it's a privilege to be the manager. 'I think the Championship is the most competitive league. 'If you look at the other divisions, they had runaway winners. 'But there wasn't that much between a lot of the teams in the Championship, just that little bit of extra quality at times. 'There was no real consistency in results. Teams would win 3-0 and it just shows you the level of competition in the league. 'What you want to find is a level of consistency, I think that is the key in this league. 'The two teams who went up, Falkirk and Livingston, had that in the end. 'We are building something here and it will take a bit of time to find the key components we want from the team. 'It's not set in stone that we have to get promotion next season, but we want to be up and around it for the foreseeable future.'
