It seems that with each passing game, Caitlin Clark continues to prove that she's the real deal and not merely a creature of hype.

On Saturday, she returned from an injured quad and had 32 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and two blocks as her Indiana Fever notched a statement win over the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty. On Tuesday, she had 20 points and six assists to lead Indiana to a win over the Connecticut Sun.
Tuesday's win sent Indiana to the final game of the Commissioner's Cup, where it will face the Minnesota Lynx on July 1. But the win over Connecticut was a testy one, and she had some words on social media afterward.
In the Instagram comments, photographer Bri Lewerke asked her, "You like that?" and she responded, "I do."
Tuesday's contest was very physical, and multiple technical fouls were handed out as a result. Clark was the subject of some of that physicality in the third quarter.

Connecticut guard Jacy Sheldon poked Clark in the eye, and moments later, Marina Mabrey shoved the 2024 Rookie of the Year. With a technical foul called against Mabrey and a flagrant foul assessed to Sheldon as a result, Clark was given three free throws. She made all three to put Indiana ahead by 13 points.

Sheldon, along with Lindsay Allen and Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, was ejected later in the game after getting involved in a separate incident.
Indiana ended up winning, 88-71, and it got 17 points from Kelsey Mitchell and 16 points and 12 rebounds from veteran forward Natasha Howard. The team now has a 6-5 record, and it may be just starting to gain steam with both Clark and guard Sophie Cunningham back to full health.

Connecticut Sun Makes Statement After Loss to Caitlin Clark, Fever

Connecticut Sun Makes Statement After Loss to Caitlin Clark, Fever originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Connecticut Sun suffered their third straight loss on Tuesday in an 88-71 blowout against the Indiana Fever. Advertisement As expected, Caitlin Clark stole the show, as the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year led her team to their second straight win behind 20 points, six assists and four three-pointers. Clark, however, also made headlines after being involved in multiple physical altercations throughout the contest. One in particular that stood out was an incident in the third quarter that saw Clark get called for a technical foul after shoving Sun guard Jacy Sheldon. Clark was retaliating after getting poked in the eye by Sheldon, which resulted in Marina Mabrey and Tina Charles also getting involved in the physical confrontation. In the end, Clark and Co. battled hard and were able to take down the Sun, who fell to 2-9 on the season after another disappointing loss. At the same time, however, he wasn't entirely pleased with how his team let their emotions get the better of them in this one. Advertisement 'When it's an away game, it will never be in our (favor)," he said, via Brian Haenchen on IndyStar. "It's why I say we lost our mind, instead of sticking to our game plan and focusing on our game. "It was a good learning opportunity, so hopefully we can learn from this game." Toward the end of the game, two Sun players, Sheldon and Lindsay Allen, were ejected after another incident with Fever veteran Sophie Cunningham, who was also tossed. Unfortunately for the Sun, they suffered another loss on Wednesday. They played for a second time in two nights, and they found themselves on the losing end again, this time against the Phoenix Mercury, 83-75. Clark and Sun players Marina Mabrey and Tina Charles were hit with technical fouls. Jacy Sheldon was given a flagrant foul. Later, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham appeared to retaliate with a hard foul on Sheldon. Both players were ejected from the game with 40 seconds left. Evert was among those who commented on the Clark incident. 'When will these ladies realize, accept, and appreciate @CaitlinClark22 is the best thing that ever happened to women's basketball. WNBA Makes Alyssa Thomas Announcement on Wednesday

WNBA Makes Alyssa Thomas Announcement on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There was just one game on the docket on Wednesday night, and it featured the Connecticut Sun hosting the Phoenix Mercury at Mohegan Sun Arena. Advertisement It was a hard-fought contest, but the Mercury ultimately secured the road win, 83-75. This was thanks in large part to another strong performance from five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas, who marked her return to her former stomping ground with a massive effort. Thomas, who the Sun traded to the Mercury in the offseason, went off for 14 points, eight rebounds, 11 assists and a steal in 31 minutes of action. The three-time All-WNBA forward had played her entire 11-year career with Connecticut before the team shipped her off in February, and Thomas made sure to remind them what they were missing. In eight games played thus far, the 33-year-old has put up averages of 14.4 points on 52.2% shooting, 6.8 rebounds, 9.3 assists and 1.8 steals per contest. It wasn't just Thomas who balled out against the Sun on Wednesday, though. She also got a lot of help from the likes of Satou Sabally (12 points, 15 rebounds), Kahleah Copper (13 points) and Alexa Held off the bench (14 points), to name a few.
