HP: Youth held after ‘sensitive' content found in his phone
Abhishek, a college dropout, was arrested based on a tip-off from central agencies. Dehra SP Mayank Chaudhary said, 'On May 28, police conducted a raid at the suspect's residence. We took him in custody and brought him to Dehra police station for questioning. Upon examining his mobile phone, we found sensitive and objectionable content that falls under the purview of Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. However, we have not yet found any conclusive evidence that he was directly involved in acts of spying'.
The SP added that Abhishek has been placed under surveillance for at least a week. 'Section 152 of BNS, 2023, pertains to criminal acts that endanger the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India. If we find evidence of spying, relevant charges will be added in the FIR. The seized cell phone has been sent for forensic examination,' he added.
While officers declined to divulge the exact nature of the sensitive content found on Abhishek's phone, a source said his phone contains pictures and video clips of 'sophisticated weapons, armouries, and other material that would be highly unusual for any ordinary person to possess'.
Investigation will determine whether Abhishek personally recorded this material or if it was shared with him through social media by people across the border, sources said.
Abhishek's father, Rajender Singh, works as a driver, and his mother is a homemaker. Abhishek is curently unemployed, and takes up catering work at private parties occasionally.

Fearing for her safety, she moved to her elder daughter's in-laws' house for some time, the complainant told police. "She further alleged that on August 11, when she returned home around 9.30 pm, her son insisted on speaking to her privately. He then locked her in a room, threatened her with a knife and scissors, and allegedly raped her," the officer added. Out of fear and shame, the woman initially kept silent and started sleeping in the same room as her daughter, police said. However, around 3.30 am on August 14, the accused allegedly assaulted her again, after which she gathered courage and approached the police. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS, and an investigation is underway, officials added. The accused is a graduate but currently unemployed, while the complainant is an illiterate housewife married to a retired government employee. 30-Year-Old Man Critically Injured By 'Chinese Manjha' Near Tughlakabad
A 30-year-old man was left critically injured on Saturday afternoon after his throat was slit by a Chinese 'manjha' (synthetic kite string) while passing near Tughlakabad Metro Station, police said. According to Delhi Police, a PCR call was received at Badarpur police station around 4:40 pm reporting the incident. A police team rushed to the flyover connecting Sarita Vihar to Faridabad, where the victim, identified as Rajneesh, a native of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh, was found lying in a pool of blood with a severe neck injury. He was immediately shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors said his condition remains critical. Preliminary investigation suggests that the injury was caused by a red-coloured synthetic manjha, commonly referred to as Chinese manjha, which has been banned due to its lethal nature. Police said legal action has been initiated, and further investigation is underway. The incident has once again raised concerns over the sale and use of Chinese manjha in the national capital, despite repeated crackdowns. Earlier, a team from Nand Nagri Police Station launched a special drive against individuals involved in the sale of banned 'Chinese Manjha', amid rising incidents of injuries and nabbed two siblings with 325 rolls on July 18. The Delhi Police has launched a special drive to curb the sale and use of hazardous Chinese Manjha -- a nylon-based kite string that has caused numerous injuries and fatalities involving people, birds, and animals. Acting on local intelligence, a team led by a team member conducted a raid at a premises in the Jhuggi area of Sunder Nagri, Delhi, and recovered 325 reels of Chinese Manjha. Two persons, namely Samir (22) and his younger brother Shakir (18), were apprehended. Accordingly, a case under Section 223(b) of the BNS and Sections 5/15 of the Environment Protection Act was registered at Nand Nagri police station, and an investigation has been initiated. During interrogation, both accused admitted to their involvement and disclosed that they had stocked the Manjha for sale in the Nand Nagri police station area during the upcoming festival season.

Farmers fall victim to cyber fraud through APK files: CI Jayanna issues warning
Pattikonda (Kurnool): Cybercriminals have launched a new wave of fraud by luring citizens—particularly farmers—into downloading malicious 'APK files' (Android Application Package files). Pattikonda Circle Inspector (CI) Jayanna cautioned that unsuspecting farmers are being cheated through fake links disguised as government schemes, refund updates, and agricultural benefits. Once these files are installed, fraudsters gain full control over the victims' mobile phones, leading to severe financial losses. According to Jayanna, fraudsters are targeting farmers by circulating attractive messages through WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram. Many of these links appear in the name of PM Kisan benefits, urgent document verifications, delivery updates, and digital KYC requests. Believing them to be genuine, some farmers unknowingly download APK files. The malicious apps then seek multiple permissions such as access to SMS, contacts, call logs, storage, and notifications. Granting these allows cybercriminals to steal personal data, bank details, and even OTPs linked to financial transactions. CI Jayanna warned that in several cases, hackers have misused this access to withdraw money from bank accounts and misuse private information. Farmers, online shoppers, the elderly, and students are increasingly becoming soft targets due to limited awareness of such scams. In certain instances, criminals have even accessed phone cameras and microphones to collect private visuals for blackmail. The police appealed to farmers and the public not to download apps from unknown links or share OTPs with strangers. Only applications from the official Play Store should be trusted. Any suspicious apps must be uninstalled immediately. Victims of cyber fraud are advised to dial the cybercrime helpline 1930 or lodge complaints at the nearest police station. CI Jayanna underlined that in today's digital age, 'Alertness is the only shield against cyber theft.'
