Meanwhile, India's first K-pop star, Sriya Lenka, also came out in support of the Indian Armed Forces amid escalating tensions with Pakistan. The 23-year-old singer, who is part of the South Korean girl group Blackswan, took to her Instagram stories to laud the Indian Army. 'Proud of our Protecters, Jai Hind," she wrote.
Since Friday evening, Pakistan has launched drone strikes, missiles, and cross-border shelling against India, though most of the attempts were thwarted by India's alert forces and an impregnable air defence system.
On May 7, Operation Sindoor was carried out in response to the terror attacks in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives. The Indian Armed Forces launched missile strikes early Wednesday targeting nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Describing the operation, the army emphasized that the strikes were carefully calibrated to avoid escalation and did not target any Pakistani military facilities.

Who Are RM And V - BTS Members Discharged From Mandatory Military Service?

Last Updated: V and RM are the latest members of the septet to complete their 18-month mandatory military service. The day ARMYs across the globe have been eagerly waiting for is finally here! BTS stars Kim Namjoon (RM) and Kim Taehyung (V) were officially discharged on Tuesday, June 10, after completing their 18-month mandatory military service. With this, the duo becomes the latest among the BTS septet to finish their enlistment, marking another milestone in the group's return. From heartwarming posts and fan projects to trending hashtags, RM and V's return has created a wave of happiness that is hard to miss. And if you are still wondering who the two BTS stars are, fret not. We have got you covered. Here's everything you need to know about Kim Namjoon and Kim Taehyung. Who Is BTS' RM? Kim Namjoon, aka Rap Monster or Real Me (RM), is the leader of the globally renowned K-pop band BTS. His love for poetry from childhood piqued his interest in the performing arts. He began his career in music as rapper Runch Randa, rapping in local hip-hop circles and later joining the underground Korean Hip-hop scene. In June 2013, he debuted with Big Hit Entertainment's (now HYBE) boy group, BTS. Besides his work with the septet, RM also managed to carve a niche for himself as a solo artist. Just two years after his debut with the group, he began his career as a soloist, releasing his single titled P.D.D. (Please Don't Die). It was a collaboration with American rapper Warren G. He released his debut self-titled mixtape, RM, in March 2015. In 2018, he released his second mixtape, Mono, followed by his first studio album, Indigo, in 2022. View this post on Instagram A post shared by RM (@rkive) While serving in the military, RM released his second studio album, Right Place, Wrong Person, followed by a documentary which captured the making of the project titled Right People, Wrong Place. He enlisted at the Korean Army Training Centre in Nonsan in December 2023 and served with the military band of the 15th Infantry Division till his discharge on June 10. Who Is BTS' V? Kim Taehyung, best known to his fans as V, is one of the vocalists and visuals of BTS. While he has been interested in singing and dancing since childhood, V never planned to audition for Big Hit Entertainment. He accompanied his friend to the audition for the company, and as fate would have it, V ended up getting selected for BTS. Besides his work with the septet, the singer also sang a few K-drama OSTs, including It's Definitely You from Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth and Christmas Tree from Our Beloved Summer. In September 2023, V released his first-ever solo studio album, Layover. It immediately ranked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. In December last year, during his military service, the BTS star dropped two singles, White Christmas and Winter Ahead. He enlisted on December 11 and, after the completion of his basic training, was assigned to the Special Task Force of the Military Police Corps. He also got discharged along with RM. Harry Potter fans furious after HBO casts Italian actor as Parvati Patil in upcoming TV series: ‘So much for diversity'

The casting announcement for the upcoming Harry Potter TV series has sparked significant discussions—especially among the Indian fanbase—following Monday night's reveal that Italian actor Alessia Leoni will portray Parvati Patil, one of the beloved side characters from J.K. Rowling's wizarding world. Social media backlash quickly followed, with fans on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) voicing frustration at the choice. A Reddit user captured the sentiment: 'I'm so sick of Hollywood casting biracial, half white desi actors.' Another remarked: 'I'll gladly delete this and eat my words if she is Desi, but with a name like Alessia Leoni I don't have much hope.' On X, one user asked: 'This is frustrating. Why cast an Italian who just looks brown to play Parvati Patil? They easily could've cast an actual Indian actress. So much for 'diversity' @HBO. No hate to the kid, but still…' Monday also saw the announcement of nine additional roles in the new series: Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley; Lox Pratt and Johnny Flynn as Draco and Lucius Malfoy; Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan; Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown; Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby as Petunia and Vernon Dursley; and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge. This controversy echoes earlier backlash over the casting of Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, a character originally portrayed by Alan Rickman in the films. At that time, fans expressed outrage that the new series chose a non-white actor for a role widely identified with a white British wizard—an uproar that resurfaced debates about fidelity to the source material and authentic representation. To understand why casting authenticity matters so much to Indian fans, it helps to look back at the original Patil portrayals. In the film series, Parvati and Padma Patil were played by British actors of Bangladeshi heritage, Shefali Chowdhury and Afshan Azad, who were discovered through local school auditions. Therefore, in sum, the current casting decision has reignited frustration among fans who feel authentic representation is being overlooked once more.
