Pat Surtain says Broncos QB Bo Nix will 'make a lot of noise' in 2025
The 25-year-old quarterback was invited to the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season after surpassing 4,200 yards from scrimmage and scoring 34 touchdowns as a rookie. Nix's first year in the league started a bit shaky, but he showed great improvement as the season went on, finishing the campaign as a Rookie of the Year contender.
Nix is now entering his second year in coach Sean Payton's offense, and it's clear that he's more comfortable.
'Bo, he's even more confident going into this year," cornerback Pat Surtain said Tuesday. "Obviously, with Year 1 under his belt, a lot more confidence rises upon that. The team, we have Bo's back through the whole way through. He's a tremendous leader out there, and a tremendous player. This year, he's going to make a lot of noise, and we're looking forward to seeing what he does and his success moving forward.'
Nix completed 66.3% of his passes last season and only took 24 sacks, impressive totals for his debut year. He'll look to improve on those totals in Year 2 as the Denver Broncos attempt to return to the playoffs after going 10-7 in 2024.

NFL Top 100: Jaguars WR Brian Thomas is No. 61, plays Cardinals in Week 12
Jacksonville's Brian Thomas Jr. had the rookie season that people wanted Marvin Harrison Jr. to have. This week, the NFL had its fourth week of revealing players in the "NFL Top 100." This week was about revealed Nos. 61-70. Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride came in at No. 65. On Friday, two Cardinals opponents for 2025 rounded out the week. Coming at No. 61 was Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Brian Thomas, who was a rookie last season. In his rookie campaign, he had the season Cardinals fans hoped that Marvin Harrison Jr. would have had. He had 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. He made the Pro Bowl and was fourth in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting. He was the fourth rookie since the NFL-AFL merger to have at least 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns. Fellow 2024 rookie receiver Malik Nabers of the New York Giants, Thomas' college teammate at LSU, called him "a freak of nature." Teammate Travon Walker, a defensive end, said Thomas is "a good route runner" with "exceptional speed." The Cardinals will have to find a way to slow Thomas in 2025. The Jaguars come to State Farm Stadium in Week 12. He isn't the only Jaguars player in the top 100, as defensive end Josh Hines-Allen made the list just behind Thomas at No. 63. Vikings' Kevin O'Connell opens up about the Vikings process around J.J. McCarthy
Some fans and media members questioned the Minnesota Vikings' willingness to move on to J.J. McCarthy, who missed his entire rookie season due to a meniscus tear. Sam Darnold had led the team to a 14-3 record in 2024, throwing for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns en route to his first Pro Bowl appearance. However, the Vikings' goal with McCarthy isn't exactly replicating Darnold's success in 2024, his first year as a starter. Instead, they want to ensure they build McCarthy into a quarterback who can succeed not only in 2025 but in the years that follow. Part of that requires building a contending roster around McCarthy, something that was possible this offseason with his rookie-scale contract allowing the Vikings to spend more money. Kevin O'Connell broke it all down while speaking with KFAN on Thursday. I am wildly in favor of the quarterback development process involving more than just the quarterback. Too much has probably been made of my opinions on these matters, but I will say that I believe you're supposed to put a really good football team around any quarterback that plays. When you have a younger player in this financial current NFL that we play in nowadays, you can do it a little bit more around that player with the young guy under contract for a certain amount of time before you inevitably have to start planning for what that will look like when he transitions to one of the more highly paid players on the team. If McCarthy proves he can be the franchise quarterback for the next decade, and the Vikings surround him with the requisite roster to contend, Minnesota could finally compete for the Super Bowl championship that has eluded them for 65 years.

Wings' Paige Bueckers finds a new way to impress amid upset win over Storm
For most rookies, assuming a leadership role is not a natural thing. But Paige Bueckers is not most rookies. After a historic college career at UConn, Bueckers joined the Dallas Wings, where it was hoped the former NCAA champion would form a dangerous backcourt partnership with All-Star guard Arike Ogunbowale. But while Ogunbowale has struggled for consistency, Bueckers has emerged as an All-Star herself. A virtual shoo-in for Rookie of the Year honors, Bueckers leads all rookies in points (18.2) and assists (5.5) per game. On Tuesday night, she might have accomplished her most impressive feat yet in a Dallas uniform: leading the Wings to a blowout win in Seattle, proving her mettle in one of The W's toughest arenas. MORE: Paige Bueckers ties Caitlin Clark with record-breaking rookie milestone Bueckers scored 14 points and added six assists as the Wings blew out the Storm, 87-63, in a game that saw Ogunbowale go off for a team-high 20 points -- her best scoring output in nearly a month. Now recovered from a thumb injury, Ogunbowale thanked her teammates for standing by her in what has been a difficult season personally; she is averaging a career-low 15.9 points per game. Ogunbowale though had special praise for Bueckers, calling her a "true leader" who "always has everybody's best interest at heart." For Bueckers, that quality just comes naturally. "The way that I play basketball is the way I try to live my life," Bueckers said following the win in Seattle. At just 23 years old, Bueckers' workload is already among the most demanding in the league, and the Wings' 7-17 record might be a bit alien to a player who is used to winning nearly every game. But Dallas' win in Seattle -- its first road victory over a team other than the Connecticut Sun -- is a firm step in the right direction for a young, growing team.
