Coleen Nolan details 'devastating' impact of Loose Women cuts as staff in limbo
Loose Women's Coleen Nolan has described the upcoming changes and cuts at ITV as "devastating" with staff members currently living in limbo. The channel recently announced a raft of changes to its daytime schedules, including slashing the daytime panel show down to 30 weeks a year and merging the teams working on Lorraine, Loose Women and This Morning.
Now Coleen, who celebrated 25 years on the show this year, has expressed her devastation and fears about what will become of the show's behind-the-scenes staff once the changes come into force. 'The crew have become family. I've watched them grow,' she said. 'Some of our runners from back in the day are producers, married with kids. I've shared my life with them. They're in limbo, not knowing what they're going to do."
She continued, 'Loose Women isn't ending, which I'm so thankful for, but it's changing. It's going to be very different in the respect of the size of the crew, but it's still running. Which it should be – there isn't another show that celebrates and supports all women of every size, age, whatever. But it's heartbreaking to see some of my colleagues not knowing what they're going to do. Many of them have young families and mortgages.'
Sources previously told the Mirror there wouldn't be any 'radical changes' to the Loose Women panel, but there are expected to be a number of redundancies in the behind-the-scenes crew.
Lorraine Kelly's daily show is also being cut to 30 minutes each day and to 30 weeks of the year, with Good Morning Britain running until 9.30am to fill the time. GMB will also be extended until 10am on the weeks Lorraine is off air entirely.
Coleen, 60, joined the series in 2000, joining Jane Moore, Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Ruth Langsford, and told Mirror's Notebook magazine she had never experienced anything like the current changes.
'You read about it all the time – a chain store's shutting down and 300 people are affected,' she said. 'You go, 'Oh that's awful. Anyway, what do you want for dinner?', because it doesn't directly affect you.
'I've never been so close to it. It's made me realise how much this is happening across the whole country at the moment and it's devastating.'
On announcing the changes, Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, said the channel's daytime slate was 'a really important part of what we do' and would 'enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they and trust'.

The band shared a video to promote the comeback last year when Liam was heard saying: "When we both come together, you have greatness." Noel then says: "I know my brother better than anybody else. This is it, this is happening." Setlist Due to Cardiff being the first show, fans are yet to find out what the official setlist is. Google makes huge Oasis change just hours before first concert
With Oasis just hours away from kicking off their global tour, Google has sent fans crazy with a few Easter Eggs for anyone searching for more information about the tour After 16 years of anticipation, the Gallagher brothers will grace a stage together once again as Oasis is officially back in business. But with all that hype, fans searching for more information have been left laughing at a sneaky change Google has introduced. After decades of waiting, Britpop fans are finally getting what many had dreamed of, but many thought would never happen, as the classic 90s band performs its first show since 2009 as they take to the stage in Cardiff later today. Currently the talk of the country, many intrigued fans have been googling for more information on the tour only to find a funny nod to the brother sending them in a different direction. When searching Oasis Tour, at the top of the page and above all the tour dates is the search help tool "Did you mean?". Now, although this certain box has helped correct countless typos for this one page Google have sneakily changed it to "Did you mean: madferit." For any southerners not quite up to date with Manchester slang, "mad fer it" meaning "mad for it" was a phrase Liam and Noel used to shout out in their earlier days to get the crowd going and make sure everyone was ready for a party. Coleen Nolan has described the sweeping changes coming to ITV's daytime schedule as 'devastating,' admitting that many staff on Loose Women are now living in a state of limbo. The popular daytime panel show, which celebrated Coleen's 25th year earlier in 2024, is one of several shows affected by ITV's decision to overhaul its daytime line-up. Under the new plans, Loose Women will be cut down to just 30 weeks a year, with production teams across This Morning, Lorraine, and Loose Women set to be merged. While the show itself is not coming to an end, Coleen has voiced deep concern over what the changes could mean for long-standing members of the behind-the-scenes team. 'The crew have become family. In its place, Good Morning Britain will extend its broadcast to 9.30am, and during Lorraine's off-air weeks, GMB will run until 10am.
