Stranger Things actress Winona Ryder reveals moment she confessed love for her A-list co-star

Daily Mirror4 days ago
Winona Ryder has confessed she once proclaimed her love for Al Pacino while working alongside him, but her advances were pushed back by the Hollywood megastar in an awkward moment.
Winona Ryder has revealed how she fell for Hollywood icon Al Pacino when they worked together - but he rejected her advances. The pair starred in Richard III - Finding Richard together in 1996, where they portrayed love interests.

"I was absolutely in love with Al Pacino when I was working with him," Winona told Elle UK. Continuing that the actor - who is over three decades her senior - didn't quite feel the same way, she explained, "I was actively in love with him. He was obsessed with coffee, and he would take me all over New York – like, to the weirdest places – to try different coffees. I'm 22, or whatever.

"Finally, he's dropping me off wherever I'm staying, and I'm like, 'I love you, you know. I really am completely in love with you.'' And he was like 'Aw, honey, noooo.' Then, like 10 years later, I met his girlfriend, who's younger than me.'
While they may not have been a romantic match, Winona says the friendship has stood the test of time, 'I still play poker with him sometimes. It's the best."
Al Pacino's last public girlfriend was Noor Alfallah, who is over 50 years his junior. The couple began dating in 2022 and welcomed a son, Roman, the following year. However, in October last year, it was reported they had parted ways.

The actor's romantic history includes high-profile relationships with stars like Diane Keaton, Beverly D'Angelo, and Kathleen Quinlan. Alongside his son Roman, he is a father to three other children; daughter Julie and twins Anton and Olivia with actress Beverly D'Angelo.
Now over 40 years into the showbusiness industry, Stranger Things actress Winona also opened up about the pressure to look young. "I started my career as the youngest, and I always wanted to be older. I always knew I looked young.

But I also knew that when I started ageing, it was gonna happen fast,' she said. "They'll say, 'Just relax your forehead. Relax.' I'm trying to be a great actor, and they're saying that over and over. It's nice that people are talking about how it's OK to age, but there's still enormous pressure. Every role I get is for a mother, you know?
"My career has definitely shifted." Talking of the cosmetic surgery pressures, Winona admitted, 'I don't mind it. But what's weird is when you're surrounded by young women getting weird s*** done.'
The September issue of ELLE UK is on sale from 31 July.

Netflix Wednesday star Jenna Ortega admits getting 'super anxious' shooting season 2

Wednesday has become a huge hit since globally debuting on Netflix three years ago and is now ready to make a comeback. WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Wednesday. ‌ Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has revealed her struggles with anxiety whilst filming the second series of the Addams Family spin-off. ‌ First conceived over six decades ago, The Addams Family has evolved into an iconic gothic sitcom that has delighted audiences across generations through numerous adaptations over the years. ‌ However, the franchise soared to unprecedented success in 2022 when former You actress Jenna Ortega took on the role of the wickedly sardonic and ghoulish Wednesday Addams in her own Netflix series. Viewers became obsessed with the macabre comedy, with Wednesday smashing the platform's viewing records for the highest number of watched hours in a single week for an English-language programme, surpassing Stranger Things four. Wednesday also secured third place as the most-watched English-speaking series on Netflix, accumulating over 752 million viewing hours. ‌ Therefore, it came as little shock when a second series was confirmed to be in development. Despite the phenomenal success, Ortega has confessed to attempting to distance herself from Wednesday's ever-expanding fanbase. ‌ She told Netflix: "It's still quite difficult to comprehend. I see the effects and changes that it's had on my life and my castmates' lives, but it's something that you're very detached from. If you see a number, it looks kind of crazy, but it's not like I've seen it in a room or anything like that. "I just try not to pay too much attention to that stuff because success for me is more about feeling accomplished and being able to put something out into the world and feel proud. "It's wonderful that it's been received so well, because there's a lot of pressure." ‌ The 22-year-old then went on to discuss how she felt "anxious" whilst filming the fresh episodes. "When we started the show, I was 18 and had never worked with a director as big as Tim [Burton]," she revealed. ‌ "I had led a show before, but not with a character that was so well known and loved prior to me joining. "It's a relief, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I still don't feel super anxious or feel like I have something I need to live up to every day on set. "Maybe that's a good thing, but it hasn't gotten easier." ‌ Following her triumph over Joseph Crackstone (William Houston) and rescue of Nevermore Academy in the debut series, Wednesday has gained enormous popularity in series two, much to her dismay. Nevertheless, she quickly becomes distracted when Wednesday experiences a chilling vision of Enid Sinclair's (Emma Myers) demise. But will her best friend truly perish or can the macabre teen manage to rescue her in time?

Jenna Ortega admits feeling 'super anxious' on Wednesday season 2 set

Wednesday is making a comeback to Netflix for its hotly anticipated second season, three years after it became a worldwide phenomenon. WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Wednesday. ‌ Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has opened up on her anxiety while shooting season two of the Addams Family spin-off. ‌ Originally created more than 60 years ago, The Addams Family has become a legendary gothic sitcom that has continued to entertain generations with various remakes over the years. ‌ But the franchise reached new heights in 2022 when former You star Jenna Ortega stepped into the shoes of the deeply sarcastic and morbid Wednesday Addams for her very own show on Netflix. Subscribers went crazy for the dark comedy, with Wednesday breaking the streamer's records for the most viewed hours in a week for an English-language series, beating Stranger Things four. Wednesday also became the third most-watched English-speaking show on Netflix with more than 752 million hours viewed. ‌ So it didn't come as too much of a surprise when it was announced a season two was in the works. Despite its success, Ortega has admittedly tried to dissociate from the ever-growing fandom around Wednesday. ‌ She explained to Netflix: 'It's still quite difficult to comprehend. I see the effects and changes that it's had on my life and my castmates' lives, but it's something that you're very detached from. If you see a number, it looks kind of crazy, but it's not like I've seen it in a room or anything like that. 'I just try not to pay too much attention to that stuff because success for me is more about feeling accomplished and being able to put something out into the world and feel proud. "It's wonderful that it's been received so well, because there's a lot of pressure.' ‌ The 22-year-old then went on to talk about how she felt 'anxious' while shooting the new episodes. 'When we started the show, I was 18 and had never worked with a director as big as Tim [Burton]," she shared. ‌ 'I had led a show before, but not with a character that was so well known and loved prior to me joining. It's a relief, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I still don't feel super anxious or feel like I have something I need to live up to every day on set. 'Maybe that's a good thing, but it hasn't gotten easier.' After defeating Joseph Crackstone (William Houston) and saving Nevermore Academy in the first series, Wednesday has become wildly popular in series two, much to her horror. However, she soon becomes preoccupied when Wednesday has a disturbing vision of Enid Sinclair's (Emma Myers) death. But will her best friend actually die or is the morbid teenager going to be able to save her before it's too late? Wednesday season two premieres on Wednesday, August 6, on Netflix.

An onlooker told me: 'Joseph and Amelia were really low key and, when they left, they made sure they went separately. 'He went ahead and got into the car before Amelia joined him. 'It seemed like they were on a date, but were keen not for anyone to notice them.' Given how public his romance with Doja was, I'm not surprised Joe is keen to keep things on the low. His life will soon turn completely upside down when he starts filming Sam Mendes' Beatles films. The director will create four films based on the lives of George Harrison, Sir Paul Mccartney, Ringo Starr and John Lennon. Doja Cat calls 17yo Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp a 'snake' and a 'weasel' for exposing private DMs she sent trying to hook up with his co-star Joseph Quinn While Joe is playing George, Paul Mescal will be McCartney, Harris Dickinson is set to portray John and Barry Keoghan has signed up as Ringo. Barry has already spent six months in a Beatles bootcamp learning how to drum like Ringo. And Joe admitted he's also been hard at it for the past month or so. He said: 'We've had five weeks of rehearsal. It's a fascinating process. 'Being around those guys, Paul, Barry and Harris, I think that they are very deeply talented men, thoughtful men, good, hard workers. 'I'm very inspired by them and we're all kind of going through this process together. 'There's more work to be done but I'll get back to it soon.' Joe will return to rehearsals for the Beatles film later this summer, with the four lads expected to start filming at the end of the year. Given how hectic his schedule is, he deserves a medal if he manages to keep a steady girlfriend at the same time. 'The band are sounding amazing and they've decided it simply has to be captured as a moment in time. "There will be more singles released before the album drops.' Oasis's only previous live album was Familiar To Millions, which was released in November 2000 after it was recorded at a huge concert at Wembley Stadium in July that year. As a solo artist, Liam has released three live albums – MTV Unplugged (Live At Hull City Hall), Down By The River Thames – which captured his performance on a barge on the river in December 2020 – and Knebworth 22, recording his triumphant return to the site of Oasis's legendary 1996 open- air shows at the Hertfordshire country house. If you've not yet downloaded the live version of Cigarettes & Alcohol, I would highly recommend doing it. And make sure you turn the volume right up. Your neighbours will be sure to love it.
