Centre stood by Himachal in the past and will continue to do so: Nadda

Shimla, July 9 (UNI) BJP National President and Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today visited the rain-ravaged areas of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh due to the monsoon.
The party chief visited areas that suffered major damage due to heavy rains including Nachan, Pangliur, Baga, Sainj, and Thunag.
He met people who had lost 100 percent of their homes and land, some had even lost their parents and family members in the disaster.
He also visited relief camps housing the affected people.
Talking to the media, Nadda said he has been consistently visiting Himachal Pradesh during times of disaster, offering support and solidarity.
"Recent destruction caused by rains is distressing. It has caused damage in the state, especially causing loss to life, property, and livestock. Many villages have been rendered unsafe.Bagsiad and many places I visited have suffered huge losses," he lamented.
If any political party was the first to provide relief to the public, it was the BJP, he claimed, adding that with the support of the public, various service centres were being operated, and the BJP played a leading role in quickly collecting and distributing food and daily necessities to the victims.
Nadda emphasised that the Government of India has always been prompt in providing relief and financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh.
"Our sentiments are with the affected people. BJP, headed by state president Rajeev Bindal and supervised by Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, is spearheading in relief work in Himachal. We are ensuring that no one is left in pain," he said.
As far as relief from the centre is concerned under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, immediate and time-bound assistance has been provided time and again.
Recalling the 2023 disaster, Nadd said he had visited Himachal thrice during that period and ensured that assistance worth Rs 3,146 crore was delivered to the state through the central government.
Currently in the wake of the disaster, Home Minister Amit Shah has released Rs 2006 crore as disaster relief for rehabilitation and reconstruction on the basis of assessment.
"As a representative of Central Government I would like to assure the people of the state that the Centre is committed to give more than the rightful funds for relief work. I urge the state government to implement the relief and rehabilitation effectively as earlier there were reports of weak implementation in relief work, despite the fact that there were adequate funds," he said. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy dares KCR for open debate on Kaleshwaram and other projects constructed by Congress

Suryapet (Telangana) [India], July 15 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday challenged former Chief Minister and BRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao to come for a debate on the Kaleshwaram project and the other projects, including Nagarjuna Sagar, Srisailam, SRSP, and Jurala, built by Congress in 60 years. According to a release, the Chief Minister launched a ration card distribution programme in Thungathurthy Assembly constituency and addressed a public meeting. CM Revanth Reddy questioned KCR for not bringing the river Godavari water to Telangana during the 10-year BRS rule. The CM took strong exception to the BRS leader's statements that the Telangana state would have had abundant Godavari water in three days if KCR were in power. 'Bringing Godavari water is not like pouring soda in a glass. KCR did not even construct an MRO office in his native village,' CM Reddy said. The CM launched a scathing attack on KCR, accusing the previous BRS government of looting Rs 1 lakh crore of public money by constructing the Kaleshwaram project, which became a 'Kaleshwaram' project. 'The previous Government had also never thought of issuing new ration cards and providing food security to the poorer sections. The People's Government issued 5.60 lakh new ration cards and registered the names of 26 lakh people. Possessing a ration card is a symbol of self-respect to the poor in the people's government,' CM Reddy said, as per the release. 'We have already distributed Fine Rice to 3.10 crore people till date. People were seen making a beeline before Belt shops during the BRS rule, and now people are rushing to Fair price shops for fine rice', the CM wondered why the BRS leaders are making hue and cry against the government. The Telangana CM reiterated that Congress will rule the state for 10 years till 2034 and called upon the Congress leaders to strive hard for the victory of Congress in the ensuing Local body elections. 'The party leaders should take responsibility for winning the party workers in the local body elections. The government was also providing a 42 per cent quota for BCs in the local body elections, and the caste census conducted by the government was a role model for the country after 100 years. Under pressure from Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced a caste census at the national level along with the population census,' CM Revanth Reddy said, as per the release. Listing out the schemes introduced for the welfare of all sections, CM Reddy said, 'The BRS resorted to false propaganda on Rythu Bharosa, and the government proved it wrong by depositing Rs 9000 crore scheme benefit in farmers' accounts in just 9 days. We promoted farming as a profitable profession, and Telangana state stood number one in paddy production in the country. Rs 500 bonus, farmer's insurance, and farmer's loan waiver were only possible during Indiramma's rule. The people's government waived Rs 21,000 crores of farmers' loans and relieved 25 lakh farmers from the debt burden.' Further, the CM said that the government will distribute two sarees each to 65 lakh women of self-help groups soon and provide loans of Rs 21,000 crores to self-help groups through banks.(ANI)

Sood: Plans in place to boost network & power output in city

New Delhi: Several power transmission projects worth Rs 3,310 crore were in various stages of implementation, and more schemes costing nearly Rs 1,810 crore were in the pipeline, which will improve Delhi's power sector in the coming months, minister Ashish Sood told TOI. The power minister said due to the lack of attention of the previous AAP govt, the transmission network of Delhi largely stagnated over the past few years, and there was no significant capacity addition, resulting in an increase in power outages over a period of time. Sood agreed that Delhi Transco Limited executed only 58 of 120 schemes under its 13th business plan, and only one substation was commissioned under their 14th plan. "The result was an increase in constraints and bottlenecks in the transmission and distribution network in Delhi. But, just in a few months of the BJP govt coming into office, significant reforms are taking place to revive and revitalise the power sector of Delhi," Sood said. "The transmission capacity of Delhi will increase from the present 13,040 MVA to 19,835 MVA at the 400kV level and from 14,780 MVA to 19,340 MVA at the 220kV level. This significant capacity addition in the power network is going to ensure reliability and uninterrupted power supply to residents of Delhi for the coming years," Sood said. The minister informed that power discoms have also planned to infuse capital investment of around Rs 1,937 crore in the current financial year for strengthening the distribution network of Delhi, which was significantly higher than the last two years. "There was less network upgradation during the tenure of the previous govt, but due to the continuous review and decisions of the BJP-led dispensation, using creative strategies and load rationalisation in consultation with all stakeholders, Delhi was able to meet a peak demand of 8,442 MW on June 12 without any load shedding. The unscheduled outages also reduced significantly from 2,045 in the previous year to 1,946 in the current year. With the concentrated effort of the BJP-led govt, the outages are going to further decrease in the coming years," Sood said. The minister also highlighted the increase in subsidy for installing rooftop solar plants as a step towards providing clean, green, and uninterrupted power supply in Delhi. He added that the power regulator recently released guidelines for rooftop solar installations under the utility-led aggregation model.

BJP and AAP lock horns over more funds to CM, ministers for cellphones

New Delhi: BJP and AAP engaged in a war of words on Monday over Delhi govt's decision to enhance the reimbursements for the mobile phones of the chief ministers and ministers. While AAP accused BJP of being "anti-poor" and celebrating by gifting expensive mobile phones to ministers, the party in power said the gadgets were used for storing records and official work, and even MLAs and MCD councillors used them. The general administration department, in an office memo issued on July 9, enhanced the upper limit of mobile handset prices for the chief minister to Rs 1.5 lakh and to Rs 1.25 lakh for the ministers. The mobile handset will not ordinarily be replaced within two years from the date of its purchase, but if at any point in time, the probable cost of repair exceeds 50% of the total initial cost, the replacement will be allowed on a case-by-case basis, the memo added. The monthly call charges are fixed as per actual bills. Hitting back at AAP, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said high-end phones were used for storing records and doing official work. He asked Jha that if he had an objection over the cost of the chief minister and ministers' mobile phones, he should say something about vehicles purchased for Rs 1.43 crore during 2015-22 for the then chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Kapoor said AAP members should make political statements while maintaining dignity.
