TOWIE's James Argent breaks silence after attacking girlfriend in Spain
Argent, 37, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence by the Spanish Civil Guard and taken into custody on Sunday, May 5. Onlookers who witnessed the incident had told the Mirror that they heard an "aggressive man yelling" while also "throwing objects" from the terrace of a nearby house.
The reality star, who found fame on the ITVBe reality programme, admitted to "mistreating" Nicoline in the Court of Violence Against Women in Fuengirola. He was given a suspended jail sentence and must carry out a "resocialisation course in the field of gender violence". He has reportedly been given a restraining order, preventing him from contacting his girlfriend.
Speaking out for the first time since his arrest, the wedding singer said: "I am devastated by what's happened." He went on to tell the Daily Mail that he hadn't relapsed, explaining: "I am still three years and four months clean and sober."
When approached by the Mirror about the incident, a spokesperson for the Guardia Civil confirmed Argent's arrest. They said: "We can confirm Mr Argent was arrested by 'Policia Local' of Mijas for an alleged crime of domestic violence on 5th May."
Meanwhile, an onlooker told the Mirror: "We were frightened by his shouts. We couldn't believe what we were seeing." They added that Nicole "appeared to be physically and emotionally devastated." Nicoline's mother arrived at the scene to assist her daughter and the local police transported them both to a hospital.
Arg is believed to be "remorseful about what happened but is insisting he never meant any harm," reports The Sun. Argent rose to fame as an original cast member on The Only Way Is Essex, appearing on the ITV series from 2010 until 2018. Over the years, the 37-year-old singer has taken part in a number of reality TV shows, including Celebrity Super Spa, The Jump, Sugar Free Farm and Celebs Go Dating.
TOWIE suspended Argent from filming in October 2014 when he failed a drug test. He later attended rehab before returning to the series. The reality TV star has regularly been an inpatient at centres due to his issues with drug addiction.
Speaking in 2023, Argent said: 'I battled with [drug addiction] for a number of years. But I've got through it and I'm doing alright. I'm doing well. I'm clean, sober, and I have been for a long time now.'
Argent, who also works as a wedding singer, underwent a sleeve gastrectomy procedure in April 2021, after his weight reached 27 stone. 'I had a bad relationship with food. I would either do no exercise at all and binge eat or I would starve myself and train three times a day,' told GB News two years on from the surgery.
'I was either morbidly obese or slim. I was constantly yo-yo ing .I now have a great relationship with food and with exercise and I have got the balance right. I am proud of what I have achieved.'

Troubled son of Michelin star chef Marco Pierre White steals £1,500 worth of Jellycat toys
Marco Pierre White Jr has been involved in a spate of burglaries and a decade of trouble. The troubled son of Michelin star chef Marco Pierre White has admitted to smashing up an antique shop after stealing Jellycat toys worth £1,500. Marco Pierre White Jr has been involved in a spate of burglaries and a decade of trouble. As reported by the Mirror, the former reality TV has now held his hands up to the raid in Westminster, London, on June 19. The 30-year-old has struggled with drug addiction - and the latest charge comes after he pleaded guilty to burgling a tattoo shop in Somerset last year. It has been claimed White Jr caused over £40,000 worth of damage to the tattoo shop earlier this summer, an amount he disputes. In court, prosecutor Ravinder Johal said that he destroyed four mounted crystals at the shop. White Jr burgled a deli in Kensington just weeks before, stealing a laptop, iPod, and a till. He smashed his way into a house in Chelsea day later, causing £7,000 of damage to the front door of the property. And he stole £1,500 worth of Jellycat plush toys after breaking into a shop in Barnes, south west London, last month on July 21. He appeared at Isleworth Crown Court, via video link, from HMP Wandsworth today. He admitted four counts of burglary as well as one count of criminal damage. The former reality TV star previously pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court. He entered those pleas again today. Graeme Logan, defending, said: "Marco disputes the £43,000 figure relating to criminal damage. The figure appears to be an amalgamation for property stolen and damage to the property. That figure is disputed. I ask for seven days to submit that plea. With the allegation of robbery on May 25, which Mr White denies, an alternative plea of theft will be offered." Judge Edward Connell said: "There will be a hearing for that robbery charge at Isleworth Crown Court on September 2 this year. If the Crown does not accept it, a trial will be set for March 16 next year. I am going to adjourn your case for two weeks. You have pled guilty to serious offences both in the magistrates' court and today, and at some point you will have to be sentenced for that." The former Celebrity Big Brother star had only been released from prison two months before burglary, and will be sentenced on 29 November after pleading guilty to one count of burglary. His downfall began in 2016, just days after he was voted out of the Celebrity Big Brother house following shocking behaviour with his housemates, which prompted complaints from viewers and a formal warning. In one incident, he asked Laura Carter to 'choke him' as she straddled him on the sofa, and was reprimanded when she later complained to producers about his 'wandering hands'. Days after being the first celebrity to be booted off the show, Marco Jr appeared in court after being stopped by police driving under the influence of cocaine. In January 2019, he was convicted and fined after unleashing a shocking tirade at police officers as they arrested him for being drunk and disorderly in a train station. Seven months later, he was taken to a police station 'kicking and screaming' after smashing windows during a furious row with his chef dad Marco Sr, and in 2022, he was jailed for 18 months after being convicted of 14 offences including racially aggravated abuse, heroin possession and carrying a knife. In May last year, he was arrested after burgling an upscale deli in Bath, and was captured on CCTV smashing the window with a champagne bottle. He stole £250 from the cafe, which was featured on the Netflix show Bridgerton, and was identified by police after his trousers fell down during his escape, revealing his distinctive tattoos on his legs and rear end. The owner of the cafe, Jon Ison, claimed this was the second time Marco Jr had stolen from him, and told The Sun that he also stole money from the charity box that was on the counter next to the till. 'He probably thought he was in the clear but when he crawled back through the window he got his tracksuit caught on the frame and accidentally mooned his bare backside right at our CCTV cameras,' he said. 'The hilarious thing about this burglary is that we only knew it was him because his trousers got caught around his ankles and we could see his tattoos on his bum cheeks,' Jon added. His legal woes didn't end there, as in August, he was sentenced to eight weeks in jail for stealing socks from a supermarket near his dad's four-star hotel The Rudloe near Bath. Marco Jr also burgled The Crown Inn in the picturesque city, and stole £2,000 worth of cigarettes.

Celebs Go Dating chaos as two stars break down in tears over painful romantic past
It was an emotional night for the celebrities in the Celebs Go Dating agency as they arrived back in London - with two breaking down in tears as they opened to the agents The tears were flowing in tonight's Celebs Go Dating, as both Olivia Hawkins and Sam Prince broke down in tears during their deep dive with the agents. It's been an emotional couple of episodes for Love Island star Olivia, who had an instant connection with fellow client, Too Hot To Handle 's Louis Russell. The two became even closer earlier this week, as they shared a kiss but Liv was left in tears last night when it was revealed Louis had kissed his date on the same night. Catching up with the agents, the star, who rose to fame on the ITV2 dating show in 2023, said she was feeling "a mixture of emotions." "It's a trigger of people I've dated from the past," she said in tears. "I've always wanted that instant connection with someone and I really feel that with him, and I know it's so early but I don't think it's the right situation for me." Liv then revealed she'd never been in relationships, but had one three year situationship, and another two year one. Speaking on her past situation, Liv found out the man she was seeing had a partner - and was blocked when she confronted him. "But I just kept going back," she said in tears. "I just really wanted to change him and I lost myself a bit." Elsewhere, we saw a more vulnerable side to Sam Prince, as he broke down in front of agents Anna Williamson and Dr Tara. The Made in Chelsea star was a late addition to the agency, but he's already had his fair share of drama. The star was left fuming, when he was sent on a date with Annie, who he said wasn't his type. The next day, Annie 'roasted' Sam at the brunch, saying he was "nasty" and rated the date a 2/10. Sam was left upset by the comments, but admitted to the agents that he was "inauthentic" during his first date, as he didn't feel a connection. Opening up further, the 28-year-old said: "As much as I have this persona where people watch me on TV and think I don't give a f**k, I give more of a f**k then ever and I'm very sensitive. "When I'm in love with someone, I'm so in love. Sometimes I feel like I'm too in love. I rely on that person for everything, and that's where I think I've gone wrong." Sam then began to explain how he gives so much to relationships, that he ends up feeling "resentful". Later on, the agents delved further into Sam's childhood, leading him to break down in tears. Although the star said he had an amazing upbringing, he said he looks for the close bond he didn't have with his parents in relationships. Breaking down in tears, Sam he 'never felt like he was enough' for his parents, as agent Anna went over to the sofa to give him a hug. Anna then told the star he used his "toxic love rat mask" as a coping strategy - but will Sam be able to let his guard down while in the agency?

Dermot O'Leary and Jimmy Carr shows get update over fears they've been 'shelved'
UKTV has shared an update on two of its shows following speculation amid the Edinburgh TV Festival this week that they aren't expected to be renewed for a second series An update has been given on two game shows amid speculation that they aren't due to return. One, hosted by Dermot O'Leary, launched just months ago, whilst the other, fronted by Jimmy Carr, debuted with its first series last year. It's been suggested that Silence is Golden and Battle in the Box aren't expected to return on UKTV. It comes amid this year's Edinburgh TV Festival, which opened yesterday, with the broadcaster among those taking part. Silence is Golden launched in May. Hosted by Dermot, the six part series saw a studio audience tasked with not making any noise in a bid to split £250,000 between them. Battle in the Box, hosted by Jimmy, debuted last year. Over eight episodes, viewers saw pairs of celebrities "battle it out" in a box. Amid speculation that both shows aren't likely to be renewed, UKTV has provided an update. A spokesperson to the Mirror this evening that "no decisions" have been made on either Silence is Golden or Battle in the Box yet. The update comes after it was reported that UKTV executives spoke about both shows at the Edinburgh TV Festival this week. The broadcaster was the subject of a panel discussion at the annual festival in Scotland this morning. According to the Sun, executives teased that they are looking elsewhere for content. They said: "[They are] both fantastic shows and maybe in another universe we might be keeping both of those shows at the moment landing shows at that budget and scale that's not where our heads are at. "We are really looking to try and do something different so we can bring it back in volume. They are great producers and we have absolutely work loved working with both of them." Silence is Golden, which launched in May, saw the studio audience, who all had microphones on, given £250,000 to split between them. They were tasked with not making any noise in order to ensure the prize fund didn't reduce. Katherine Ryan, Seann Walsh and Fatiha El-Ghorri were the team captains, who, along with special guests, were pitted against the audience. They were tasked with making them react to situations in the hope of lowering the prize fund. Every sound from the audience brought the total prize money down. If the entertainers in each episode managed to get it to reach zero through various activities on stage, they would be able to give the prize money to charity. Battle in the Box, which premiered in July last year, was described as an "outlandish game show" involving pairs of celebrities who were stuck inside a box. Each pair competed again another in a series of challenges on the show. It was teased prior to its release that they would "battle it out for pride, prizes, and floorspace while living in a box". Partnerships in the first series included Jamie Laing and Nabil Abdulrashid, as well as Ellie Taylor and Jessica Knappett. A source previously told the Sun that Battle in the Box wasn't expected to return for a second series at least at the moment. The source told the outlet earlier this year: "[It] is being rested and no more series are planned for now."
