LAHAD DATU: A Proton Persona driver sustained injuries after the vehicle skidded into a 5m deep ditch at Jalan Suno Marso, here, last Sunday. District Fire and Rescue Station chief, Sumsoa Rashid, said his department received a distress call following the incident at 11.35pm. He said a team of Fire and Rescue personnel was deployed to the scene and arrived six minutes later. 'Upon arrival, the team reported that the incident involved a Proton Persona that skidded and crashed into the five-meter depth ditch. 'The victim had been taken out of the vehicle with the assistance of the public and the team carried the victim out of the ditch using a stretcher,' he said. According to Sumsoa, the victim was handed over to the medical officers from the Health Ministry (KKM). He said the operation ended at 12.07am after the team made sure there was no other danger at the scene. Man drowns after being swept away in Dabong river
Sungai Kenerong in Dabong, central Kelantan, is a popular site for picnics, camping and hiking. (Facebook pic) KOTA BHARU : A 47-year-old man who went missing while bathing in Sungai Kenerong, Dabong, here today was found dead at about 4.13pm. He is believed to have drowned. Kuala Krai police chief Mazlan Mamat said the man was swept away by currents when he went to check on the depth of the river. 'The victim had gone with nine friends to bathe in the river at about 12.30pm. He went ahead to check on the water depth but was swept away by currents and went missing,' he said in a statement today. A fire and rescue department spokesman said a search operation was held at 2.15pm. The victim was found two hours later at a depth of 3.7m lodged between some rocks.

Woman breaks arm as motorbike catches fire in three-vehicle crash on North-South Expressway near Sungkai
IPOH, June 8 — An Orang Asli woman was injured after the motorcycle she was riding caught fire following a crash involving two other vehicles at Kilometre 342.0 of the North-South Expressway southbound near Sungkai this morning. The 25-year-old victim sustained minor injuries, including a broken arm and cuts on several parts of her body. She was taken to Tapah Hospital for further treatment. Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said an emergency call came through at 6.51 am before six firefighters were dispatched to the scene. 'Upon arriving, we found that the fire involved a Yamaha LC motorcycle, which had been in a collision with two cars, a Proton Waja and a Toyota Altis,' he said in a statement today. He said the firefighters applied the RECEO concept (rescue, exposure, confinement, extinguishment, and overhaul) to bring the fire under control and completely extinguish it, adding that the operation concluded at 7.38 am. — Bernama

Tanjung Harapan boat capsize: Rescue team recovers bodies of missing couple near Port Klang
KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — A husband and wife reported missing after a boat capsized near Tanjung Harapan in Port Klang were found drowned this morning. According to a Harian Metro report, the couple's bodies were discovered floating in the waters near North Port. Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) enforcement and excise unit operations officer Lieutenant Mohd Syafiq Sazali said both victims were Malaysian nationals. 'The bodies were found floating at 7.42am about 0.1 nautical miles from North Port, Port Klang,' he said. 'We recovered the bodies using assets from the Fire and Rescue Department and brought them to the Selangor Maritime jetty,' he added.
