Jamie Foxx's daughters left in tears as he accepts BET's Ultimate Icon Award
Two years after Jamie Foxx spent nearly a month in an Atlanta hospital, the actor accepted the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET awards on June 9.
The award, created in 2015, honors veteran artists for their significant contributions to music, dance and music videos. In addition to Foxx, Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg and Kirk Franklin were also presented with the award.

During Foxx's acceptance speech, the performer grew emotional as his two daughters, Corinne Foxx and Anelise Bishop, watched from the audience.
'We used to take this saying for granted, that 'God is good,'' Foxx began before acknowledging all the love and support from his peers and his fans.
'I gotta be honest, when I saw the In Memoriam, I was like, 'Man, that could have been me,'' he continued, referencing the health scare he endured in 2023, as his daughters also grew increasingly emotional.

During his Netflix special, 'What Had Happened Was…,' Foxx said he was hospitalized roughly 20 days with a 'brain bleed that led to a stroke,' according to 'Today.'
Foxx couldn't walk or recall what had happened from April 11, when he first began experiencing a headache to May 4, when he woke up.
After undergoing rehabilitation, Foxx experienced a full recovery.
'I don't know why I went through what I went through, but I know my second chance I'm not going to turn down. I'm not going to turn down. I have so much love to give. I told Him, I said, 'Man, bro, just give me one more crack at this. And I promise.' I said, 'Whatever reason you put this on me, I promise, Imma do right, and imma do right in front of y'all,' Foxx shared.
'And I don't want to make this whole speech about that but you can't go through something like that and not testify,' Foxx continued.
Foxx went on to call out each of his daughters individually, praising Corinne for getting in the driver's seat when he needed her most.
'Corinne, I cannot say enough about you. You've always taken the back seat to everything, but when you needed to drive it, you drove and you made sure I was here.'
He then turned his attention to Anelise, calling her his 'baby with the big hair.'
'She hides under that hair because she got something special. You're so beautiful, man. When I was fighting for my life in there, I got to say this. They said that 'we going to lose him because his vitals is bad.' I didn't want my 14-year-old to see me like that. But my Anelise overheard the conversation, and she snuck into my hospital room with her guitar and said, 'I know what my daddy needs.' And as she played the guitar, my vitals dropped and I realized that God was in that guitar. And the nurses ran in and said, 'What did they give him?' And my daughter says, 'I got him.''
In the comment section of BET's YouTube video, fans commented on Corinne and Anelise's emotions during their father's speech.
'You can see the pain in his daughters still. So glad he won that fight,' one comment read.
'You can tell his daughters love him.'
'When he told his daughter you always took the back seat but when you needed to drive..... YOU DROVE! I fell out crying!'

When 'FUBAR' premiered on Netflix in 2023, its biggest draw wasn't the plot or action — it was Arnold Schwarzenegger. And for a moment, the novelty of watching the Governator tackle scripted television — like a blockbuster giant squeezing into a Roku-sized streaming box — was enough. Throw in Oscar-nominated Monica Barbaro for some snappy father-daughter banter, and it sounded like the makings of a compelling show. It wasn't. Now we're back for round two, and instead of evolving, creator Nick Santora's series doubles down on action movie cliches and strained punch lines. The result is a new season that plays like a B-movie but thinks it belongs in a big-budget franchise. With about 90 minutes of story sloshing around in an eight-hour bag, the show again proves nostalgia alone isn't enough. Schwarzenegger's Luke Brunner is still a CIA agent with a messy personal life, now under the same roof as his recon team and ex-wife Tally (Fabiana Udenio), with whom he's trying to rekindle a romance. But the relative peace is short-lived. Another global catastrophe looms, courtesy of Carrie-Anne Moss as a shadowy former flame of Luke's with unresolved business. It's a setup layered with intrigue and stakes, but the execution wobbles between sitcom shenanigans and save-the-world spectacle, landing uncomfortably in the middle. This tonal inconsistency is the show's fatal flaw. The eye-rolling quips and mid-tier gunplay could be forgiven if the story leaned into its absurdity or, conversely, its potential as an espionage drama. Instead, major action beats are consistently undercut by jokes, ensuring the threat level remains perilously low regardless of how many countdown timers or high-stakes missions are thrown into the mix. Where the show does flicker to life is in the chemistry between its cast. Schwarzenegger, well past his box office prime but still commanding with his signature steely charm and self-aware muscle, brings surprising pathos to Luke. There's a weathered quality here — not just age, but the burden of legacy. It's one of the few times the project understands the value of its star. Barbaro, meanwhile, remains a standout. The Bay Area native is effective with the action, yes, but even more so in the quieter moments. As Emma Brunner, her scenes with Schwarzenegger give the series rare flashes of emotional clarity, including an especially amusing one late in the season involving an adorable 'Sesame Street'-esque puppet of dad (trust me, it makes sense in context). Some of the side players earn their keep as well. Jay Baruchel and Andy Buckley, cast as Emma's boyfriend and Tally's boyfriend, respectively, are both used to delightful effect as everyday guys hopelessly adrift in the world of cloak-and-dagger chaos. Still, it's hard to escape the sense that 'FUBAR' is all concept, no conviction. 'I'll be back,' says Luke at one point, a meta wink at Schwarzenegger's most iconic catchphrase. It's a fitting reflection of the show as a whole: built on callbacks, but with little to call back to. Arnold Schwarzenegger headlining a TV series should've been an event — a streaming-era reintroduction of a cinematic icon — but it never finds something meaningful to do with him. After two seasons, the question isn't whether 'FUBAR' will come back, but whether anyone would even notice if it didn't.

The news was broken on Wednesday evening by Lewis's sister Lakshmi in a social media post. 'She's free, and in His heavenly arms. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 Lord, rest her soul🙏🏽,' she posted. Lewis graduated cum laude from Howard University in 1995 with a degree in history. During her time at Howard, she appeared in the music video for 'Baby, I'm Yours,' a hit R&B song by Shai, fellow Howard alumni. Filmed on campus in 1993, she played the love interest of vocalist Carl 'Groove' Martin. Following her HBCU experience, she became the host of BET's Teen Summit, in which she appeared on the program for three seasons. She ultimately got the call to become a VJ for MTV, hosting shows such as Total Request Live and Hot Zone. She also hosted her own eponymous talk show In a 2020 Instagram post, Lewis disclosed her diagnosis of stage III breast cancer, explaining that she had avoided regular mammograms due to a fear of radiation. By October 2024, during a roundtable discussion with CNN's Stephanie Elam (a longtime college friend) and CNN anchor Sara Sidner Lewis revealed she had chosen not to follow medical advice to undergo a double mastectomy. Unfortunately, her cancer had metastasized and progressed to stage IV, as she shared during the discussion. She also noted that she had pursued homeopathic treatments during her journey. 'My plan at first was to get out excessive toxins in my body. I felt like my body is intelligent, I know that to be true. Our bodies are brilliantly made. I decided to keep my tumor and try to work it out of my body a different way. . . . I wish I could go back. It's important for me to admit where I went wrong with this,' she said. She eventually wrote an essay in Essence in January 2025 urging women to take preventative measures and to listen to their bodies. 'We're not meant to stay here forever. We come to this life, have experiences — and then we go,' she wrote. 'Being real about that with yourself changes how you choose to live. I don't want to spend one more minute than I have to suffering unnecessarily. That, for me, is not the quality of life I'm interested in. When it's time for me to go, I want to be able to look back on my life and say, 'I did that exactly how I wanted to.'' Dakota Johnson Is ‘Babysitter' To Orlando Bloom's Dog
Orlando Bloom's pet pooch, Biggie Smalls, is one lucky dog. He not only has one of Hollywood's best actors wrapped around his finger but also has actor Dakota Johnson as his 'babysitter,' although temporarily. Biggie Smalls was recently seen resting in Johnson's arms when Bloom was giving an interview on Today. And before anyone knew, the pup hogged the limelight and upstaged the actor with his little barks and adorable look. Orlando Bloom recently visited TODAY's studio on June 9 to talk about his new movies — Prime Video comedy 'Deep Cover' and drama, 'The Cut' with Savannah Guthrie. And the actor was not alone. He bought his fur baby, Biggie Smalls, on the sets. While talking about the films, their conversation was interrupted when Biggie Smalls started barking off-screen. Soon after, Bloom introduced his teacup poodle to the camera, who was resting in Dakota Johnson's arms on a couch. The actor appeared on the show to talk about her upcoming film, 'Materialists,' alongside co-star Chris Evans. Looking at Biggie Smalls's reaction, Bloom joked that the pup was 'looking for attention.' Even Guthrie chimed in and said that the pooch 'has found a new owner.' The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star continued saying that his brown pup 'would never bark' and 'keeps quiet as a mouse.' But maybe the pooch is 'having separation anxiety' looking at his 'Dad' on the other side. And looking at Johnson's gesture, Bloom quipped that she is 'stealing the dog.' However, when the actor bought Biggie Smalls over to Bloom, Johnson said, 'I'm just the babysitter. I'm just the nanny.' Bloom eventually revealed that Biggie Smalls is his 'emotional support animal.' The interview then continued with the actor with the pup 'really enjoying his moment' in front of the camera. And when Craig Melvin asked Johnson about what happened with Biggie Smalls behind the camera during their segment, she replied, 'It's just what I do. I'm here for the people.'
