Amritpal Singh wanted for murder and threats to women influencers; Punjab Police issues look out notice
CHANDIGARH: Self-styled Sikh radical Amritpal Singh Mehron, the prime accused in the murder of digital content creator Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi allegedly for posting 'obscene' content has also issued threats to other social media influencers, including Simarpreet Kaur alias 'Preet Jatti' and Deepika Luthra. Punjab Police have now issued a lookout circular against Mehron, who remains absconding, and have blocked four of his Instagram handles in India, along with the account of the group he heads, 'Kaum De Rakhe', for allegedly posting racist content and death threats.
A 30-year-old Nihang and resident of Moga, Mehron has a significant social media following. His blocked accounts amritpalsinghmehron, amritpalsingh_mehron, amritpal.singh.mehron, and kaum.de.rakhe are now inaccessible in India, displaying a message citing legal restrictions.
Sources state several other accounts are under scrutiny for supporting Mehron's objectionable content. Disturbingly, some influencers from Punjab and Haryana have posted videos justifying Kanchan's murder as a "warning" to so-called "immoral elements".

NEW DELHI: A video shared by a tourist on his Instagram account may offer crucial visual evidence in the shocking murder of Indore man Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. The video, accidentally recorded by traveler Dev Singh on May 23, shows Raja and his wife Sonam walking up the trail near the famous double-decker living root bridge in Nongriat — the day Raja is believed to have been murdered. Singh, who posted the video on July 15, wrote that he had only discovered the footage while reviewing clips from his trip to Meghalaya. 'It was around 9.45 in the morning. We were heading down when the couple was climbing up after staying overnight in Nongriat village. I think this was the last recording of them together,' Singh wrote. He added that Sonam was wearing a white shirt — the same one later found near Raja's body. Singh expressed grief as he watched Raja in the clip: 'He looked normal, completely unaware of what lay ahead.' He also mentioned having another video showing three more people from Indore, who began their trek 20 minutes before Raja and Sonam and were later picked up by police. Singh has appealed for the video to be forwarded to the Meghalaya Police and requested that it not be used without permission. The case so far Raja and Sonam got married on May 11 and travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20. On May 23, Raja went missing in the East Khasi Hills district. His body was discovered on June 2 in a deep gorge near Weisawdong Falls in Sohra (also known as Cherrapunjee). The investigation soon led to Raja's wife Sonam, who was detained from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, along with four others — her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three suspected contract killers: Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi. According to the Meghalaya Police, the murder conspiracy was planned in Indore earlier this year, even before the wedding. The police claim Raj Kushwaha was the mastermind, and Sonam was a willing accomplice. The hired attackers were reportedly close friends — one even a cousin of Kushwaha — and not professional killers. Police say they were paid Rs 50,000 to carry out the plan and cover travel expenses. The investigation suggests that Raja's murder was premeditated, with Sonam playing a key role in ensuring he was isolated and vulnerable during the trip. After the crime, she surfaced in Ghazipur and surrendered on June 9. Hours Before Murder, Sonam, Raja Raghuvanshi Seen Trekking In Meghalaya
New Delhi: Hours before Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi's murder, he and his wife, Sonam (the prime accused), were seen trekking on a steep peak in the lush mountains of Meghalaya. A video shot by a tourist "accidentally" captured the Raghuvanshis climbing the hill on May 23 around 9:45 am. Raja was murdered and dumped into a gorge in the afternoon, the same day, by three killers - hired by Sonam and her lover, Raj Kushwaha. The tourist, Dev Singh, posted the video on Instagram in which Sonam was leading the way up the hill, with Raja following her. She was seen wearing a white t-shirt - which was found by the Meghalaya police near the crime scene. She was also carrying a polythene bag, which reportedly had a raincoat inside. This was the same time when Sonam's three accomplices were following them. "Yesterday, I was checking videos and I found a recording of the Indore couple. It was around 9:45 am when we were going down, and the couple was going up. I think this was the last recording of the couple, and Sonam was wearing the same white t-shirt, which was found near Raja. I hope this will also help Meghalaya police in connecting the dots," Mr Singh wrote on Instagram. He added, "Every time I watched Raja in the video, I felt very bad about him. He was looking normal but unaware of what would be waiting for him." Sources familiar with the sequence of events leading to the grisly murder on May 23 said the newlywed couple had checked out of a hotel - Shipara Homestay - in Nongriat at around 5.30 am and set out on a trek in Cherrapunji half an hour later. Sonam's three accomplices, who were staying at a nearby homestay, also checked out around the same time. Around 10 am, Sonam and Raja completed around 2,000 steps along the trek route when they met the three killers - Anand Kurmi, Akash Rajput, and Vishal Chauhan. A local guide - whose alertness later helped the cops - had spotted the five together. According to sources, as the hitmen and Raja began talking, Sonam gradually slowed down and started walking behind them. Around 12:30 pm, Sonam called Raja's mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, and told her that she was exhausted due to the trek. Raja also spoke to his mother - in their last conversation. An hour later, the group of five (Raja, Sonam, and the three hitmen) drove from Mawlakhiat to the parking lot at Wei Sawdong Waterfalls. Upon reaching, the hitmen killed Raja and threw his body into a gorge. The newlywed couple was initially reported "missing". But on June 2, cops found Raja's body, turning a missing persons investigation into a murder probe. On the night of June 7, the 'missing' wife was found in an unconscious state at a 'dhaba' in Ghazipur. She was taken to the Ghazipur Medical College for treatment, where she surrendered before the police, and was subsequently taken into custody.

In the video, Mika Singh expresses outrage over the incident, sarcastically referencing the murder and highlighting the damage it has caused to the Sikh community's global reputation. 'An influencer has been murdered. Amazing! What a proud moment." He continued, 'My name is Mika Singh. I belong to a Sikh family, and I am so proud that two Sikhs killed the woman. Very good! Until now, Sikhs were known for helping people… this is something very different.' He further criticised Mehron and his followers for targeting women over clothing choices and online content, questioning their priorities. 'Are you so free to see who is dancing, who is wearing short clothes, to go and kill them? If you are so courageous, then there are many other problems in the world, go and handle those.' The Punjab Police have arrested two of his alleged accomplices, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, after the victim's body was found in a car parked in Bathinda. For those unversed, Kamal Kaur, widely recognised on social media as 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi,' was reportedly targeted by a group of Nihangs, who accused her of disrespecting Sikh religious sentiments through her online content. According to police, she was lured, isolated, and then strangled inside a vehicle by the accused, following a plan orchestrated by Mehron. In a separate video released by Mehron before fleeing, he claimed responsibility for the murder and warned other content creators not to 'defile Sikh traditions.' He alleged that the influencer's content was 'obscene' and an insult to Sikh values. 'Khalsa never attacks women,' he said, 'but when a woman mocks our Takhts and our Gurus, we will not spare them.' Reacting strongly to this, Mika Singh said: 'On one hand, we have martyrs like Bhagat Singh who laid down their lives for the country. On the other, we now have people who believe killing a woman is bravery.' He urged the Punjab government and law enforcement agencies to take strict action against the perpetrators.
