All set for TDP's first Mahanadu in Kadapa from May 27
In fact, the TDP-led alliance had achieved a stunning victory not only in Kadapa district but throughout the Rayalaseema region infamous for its backwardness and faction violence.
Starting Tuesday, the TDP will throw light on its plans for the development of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) for the next four years, while harping on the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) misrule, touching on a wide range of its policies that purportedly pushed the State backward in various spheres.

On Day One of the mega event, being conducted near C.K. Dinne village near the district headquarters, tributes will be paid to the TDP founder and former CM N.T. Rama Rao. The party's general secretary and treasurer will submit their reports and it will be followed by a speech by TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa. Chief Minister and party national President N. Chandrababu Naidu's inaugural address will follow.
Mr. Naidu will kick off discussions on the organisational structure and its future plans, in addition to the implementation of the party's core principles. During the day, leaders will move a six-formula resolution and propose certain amendments to the rules and regulations of the party.
Most importantly, the leaders will notify the election of the party's national President (which is going to be a mere formality) at 1 p.m.
The second day will feature detailed deliberations on development and welfare programs taken up by the TDP-led NDA government. A photo exhibition and blood donation camps are being conducted as part of the event.
The TDP's six-formula resolution includes a policy to shape aspiring and eligible activists into leaders, Yuva Galam (welfare of the youth, investments, employment opportunities, decentralisation of development, development of backward areas, and WhatsApp Governance), supporting the global Telugu community and involving them in the State's growth, women welfare and empowerment, social justice and prosperity of the poor (eradicating poverty through the P-4 initiative, housing for the weaker sections, and making healthcare and education accessible to all towards achieving Swarnandhra Vision-2047), and supporting farmers with due focus on the construction of irrigation projects.
Tight security
Elaborate arrangements have been made for the Mahanaduon a sprawling ground near Kapada. Mr. Palla Srinivasa Rao, several Ministers, MLAs and Politburo members personally monitored the steps taken for successful conduct of the prestigious event, while the police deployed a large number of personnel to avert any untoward incident and for controlling traffic.
Due focus is going to be laid on plans for the development of Rayalaseema which has been mainly beset by the tardy progress of pending major irrigation projects.

Farmers, workers to stage protest in Vijayawada on August 13 against U.S. tariffs, ‘anti-farmer' policies
Farmers, workers, and people's organisations have called for a protest at Dharna Chowk here on August 13, demanding that the United States withdraw the 50% tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on Indian exports. They urged the Central Government not to bow to American pressure and to safeguard the interests of Indian farmers and workers. The call was given at a meeting held here on Sunday, attended by trade union leaders Mooli Sambasiva Rao and N.C.H. Srinivas, Andhra Pradesh Tenant Farmers Association State general secretary P. Jamalayya, Rythu Sangham State vice-president Malneedi Yellamandar Rao, Rythu Sangham district secretary P.V. Anjaneyulu, and trade union leaders A.V.R., K.R. Anjaneyulu, Kasani Ganesh Babu, V. Lakshmana Rao, K. Basavayya, and V. Lakshminarayana, among others. Speakers criticised the BJP-led Central Government for introducing policies 'more dangerous than the now-repealed three farm laws.' They alleged that amendments to the Agricultural Market Act were designed to serve the interests of foreign and domestic corporate exporters and importers, warning that such measures would ultimately dismantle the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system and end government procurement, dealing a severe blow to farmers. They also accused the government of scrapping the Price Stabilisation Fund in this year's budget, slashing subsidies on fertilizers and farm equipment, and banning tractors over 10 years old — all of which, they said, would increase the burden on farmers. On the international trade front, the leaders alleged that ever since Mr. Donald Trump returned to power, he had been pressuring India to sign a Free Trade Agreement while simultaneously imposing 50% tariffs on Indian exports. 'While Mr. Trump threatens, our Prime Minister remains silent — this is dangerous,' they said. The protest organisers demanded that the Free Trade Agreement talks be abandoned, the new market laws harmful to farmers be repealed, the 50% tariffs be withdrawn, and the four labour codes detrimental to workers be scrapped. They said the demonstration is part of a nationwide agitation called by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha under the slogan 'Quit Corporate' and urged farmers, tenant farmers, workers, agricultural labourers, students, youth, women, and the general public to participate in large numbers to make the event a success.

V.K. Santhosh Kumar elected CPI Kottayam district secretary
Communist Party of India (CPI) Kottayam district conference that concluded at Vaikom on Sunday unanimously elected V.K. Santhosh Kumar as the party's new district secretary. Hailing from a communist family in Poonjar, Mr. Kumar began his organisational work in 1978 as the All India Students Federation (AISF) unit secretary. He also served as assistant secretary of the Meenachil taluk committee of the party. He had been secretary of the CPI Poonjar constituency committee for 14 years, followed by a decade as the party's district assistant secretary. Currently, he is a member of the party's State council. Mr. Kumar is a member of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) national council and holds leadership roles in several trade unions, including as president of the Meenachil Taluk Toddy Tapping Workers' Union, as president of the Meenachil Liquor Industry Workers' Union and as district president of the Supplyco Employees' Union. He also serves as a State office-bearer of the Liquor Industry Workers Federation and is a member of the State Minimum Wage Board advisory committee. Criticism Earlier, the delegates attending the district conference had raised criticisms directed at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Ministers of the State government. Critics pointed out that the government had lost its Leftist character, with all four CPI-led departments underperforming. Further condemnation was directed at the Finance department for withholding funds, thereby stifling the CPI-led departments. The CPI State leadership, meanwhile, was described as weak and unable to take a firm stand on key issues. Representatives of the AIYF attending the conference also voiced strong criticism of the leadership, condemning the absence of youth representation even in the conference presidium and criticising the leadership's disregard for young members. They accused the party district secretary of not attending AIYF meetings and alleged attempts to suppress the youth outfit under the party's control.
