What to Watch This Weekend (June 7-8): 10 Best New Movies and Shows to Stream Now (Including a Show That'll Have You Locked in For Weeks!)
You really have to buckle in this time because this is a busy week in the world of streaming and movies!
This weekend, June 7-8, we have the usual summer blockbuster action movies and returns of beloved shows, but also something new: two exciting Broadway-related events for those who are theatrically inclined (I'm looking at you, any secret Gleeks!).
More par for the course, Netflix also has a juicy, highly anticipated drama, and Peacock is giving the people what they want: a show that will give you an excuse to not leave your couch for approximately six weeks (like, actually).
And there's more! Here's a list of the 10 best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.
Move aside Black Widow, we have a new trained woman assassin in the mix — and she's no superhero. Ana de Armas stars as ballerina-assassin Eve Macarro, who is hellbent on getting revenge on her father's killers in Ballerina.
A spinoff of the John Wick action series, Ballerina takes place between the events of the third and fourth movie, the latter of which came out in 2023.
Ballerina releases in theaters on June 6.
Just as the title suggests, this movie is about the life of a man named Chuck, played by a cheery Tom Hiddleston, and takes place over three eras in his life, from childhood to adulthood.
In addition to a starry cast, the film features a 7-minute dance number by Hiddleston, who told PEOPLE he found filming the scene "spontaneous and joyful."
The Life of Chuck releases in theaters on June 6.
If you thought this show couldn't get any crazier ... you couldn't be more wrong. Georgia is awaiting her murder trial, Ginny faces teen pregnancy and their relationship is going through its usual ups and downs.
The specific details are even crazier, but we don't want to spoil! Rest assured, if you're looking for a rollercoaster ride (but not the Six Flags kind), this is the right binge for you.
Watch season 3 of Ginny & Georgia on Netflix.
We at PEOPLE are SAT for this show, and we highly recommend that you be too. If you're ready to commit to over a month of new episodes six days a week, then buckle in because Love Island USA is back!
After a steamy sixth season, the beloved show is back for season 7 — and the drama is already piping hot. This time around, viewers will be transported to the tropical coasts of Fiji to watch hot bombshells play with each other's love lives.
Watch new episodes of season 7 of Love Island USA on Peacock.
Taraji P. Henson is a single mother on her last straw in Tyler Perry's Straw. The poor woman's day gets crazier and crazier as she goes from being evicted to being blamed for a bank robbery — and all she wants is to cash a check for her daughter.
Now, her survival depends on trusting a sympathetic police officer (Teyana Taylor) and a soothing friend (Sherri Shepherd).
Watch Straw on Netflix.
If you're a longtime Housewives fan then you'll be just as nostalgic as we are that the kids of our favorite ladies are all grown up — and ready to follow in their parents' footsteps.
Bringing together Housewife favorite celebrity kids like Gia Giudice and Brooks Marks, Next Gen NYC follows a group of reality TV nepo babies and their friends as they live out their 20s in New York (and yes, maybe we're secretly clamoring for an invite ... ).
Watch new episodes of Next Gen NYC on Tuesdays on Bravo and next day on Peacock.
People are clearly super into predators as the ninth installment in the Predators franchise was released on Hulu on June 6 — and this one is taking fans way back. Like to the Vikings and feudal Japan back, because every era in history has predators right? How fun!
In all seriousness, this animated anthology jumps across three time zones, ending in World War II, and sets up how predators have been coming to Earth for centuries to prove their competency through battle.
Watch Predator: Killer of Killers on Hulu.
AppleTV+ loves an underdog sports story, and Stick is no different, starring Owen Wilson as Pryce 'Stick' Cahill.
Stick is a former professional golfer whose career ended after he had a very public mental breakdown on the course. When he comes across an amateur teen who he's convinced has what it takes to make it, Stick is reinvigorated and ready to coach him to a championship — but it's, naturally, not as easy as it seems.
Watch Stick on AppleTV+.
We're ending this week's list with two exciting live events in the Broadway world! First up, the 78th Annual Tony Awards are taking place this Sunday, celebrating the best in theater.
This year marks many of the nominees' Broadway debuts, including George Clooney and Nicole Scherzinger, who are up for two of the most prestigious awards of the night. Other nominees include Mia Farrow, Sadie Sink, Sarah Snook, and Jonathan Groff, while Broadway veteran Cynthia Erivo is set to host the special night.
Watch the Tony Awards live at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
For the first time in Broadway history, a play will be aired live on broadcast as Clooney takes his penultimate bow in Good Night, and Good Luck.
The 5-time Tony-nominated show, which is based off the 2005 movie of the same name, will end its run on Sunday, June 7 — and give fans who didn't get a chance to nab their ticket one last chance to watch it live before final curtain.
Watch Good Night, and Good Luck live on CNN and CNN.com and streaming live on Max.

Caitlin Clark Nearly Got Indiana Fever in Trouble for Unbelievable Reason
Caitlin Clark Nearly Got Indiana Fever in Trouble for Unbelievable Reason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Few would argue that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is the most popular and marketable star in the WNBA right now. Advertisement Clark's fame has grown so much since the Fever drafted her No. 1 overall in 2024 that she's seemingly setting ratings records every time she steps on the court. The Fever's 93-58 season-opening win over the Chicago Sky on May 17 drew an average of 2.7 million viewers and peaked with 3.1 million viewers on ABC, making it the most-watched WNBA regular-season game on the network and overall in the last 25 years. Last season, Clark played in the most-watched regular-season game of the season (vs. the Sky on June 3, 3.3 million viewers), he most-viewed WNBA game on any ESPN platform (vs. the Connecticut Sun on May 20, 2.97 million viewers), and the most-watched WNBA All-Star Game ever (3.44 million viewers). But viewership wasn't the only area Clark dominated. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark reacts to a call in the second half against the Washington Mystics at Entertainment & Sports Faith Morgan-Imagn Images The WNBA Rookie of the Year had the best-selling jersey in the WNBA and the second-highest selling jersey across professional basketball behind only Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, according to Fanatics. Advertisement In fact the Fever sold so much Clark gear that the team store was actually looked into for its crazy Clark-related sales boom, according to Indiana-based journalist Travonne Edwards 'The quota has been reached in the team store to the point where they got audited,' Edwards said during an appearance on "The Right Time with Bomani Jones.' 'They sold so much [Caitlin Clark] gear that people thought it wasn't legit?' Jones asked. '…There's a shoe that's supposed to come out — a Kobe 5 with her colorway — it's on the internet for $5,000 right now. You know how you've been to the big school, like JJ Redick played for Duke, and he gets to Orlando and that motion don't follow — this followed.' Fortunately for the Fever, their bookkeeping was in order and the sales spike made sense once the final merchandise numbers were out. Advertisement Clark's home Fever jersey sold out less than an hour after being drafted last year, making her the highest-selling WNBA draft pick ever. Fanatics also reported that WNBA merchandise sales were up over 1,000% year-over-year thanks to Clark, Sky star Angel Reese, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, and Clark's Iowa teammate Kate Martin, who played her rookie season for the Las Vegas Aces and is currently with the expansion Golden State Valkyries. They ranked No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 in merchandise sales, respectively. Is The Diplomat season 3 releasing in June 2025? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on June 7, 2025, 17:30 IST Last updated June 7, 2025, 12:04 IST Netflix's political thriller The Diplomat , starring Keri Russell as U.S. Ambassador Kate Wyler, has kept audiences hooked with its intense drama, jaw-dropping cliffhangers, and sharp political intrigue. After the explosive Season 2 finale, fans are eagerly awaiting news about The Diplomat Season 3. One burning question is whether the show will return in June 2025. Here's everything we know so far. Is The Diplomat Season 3 Releasing in June 2025? As of now, Netflix has not confirmed an exact release date for The Diplomat Season 3, but the show is slated to premiere in fall 2025. While June 2025 falls within the first half of the year, multiple reports indicate that the release is more likely to occur between September and November 2025, aligning with Netflix's 'fall' window. The Diplomat Season 3 Renewal and Production Updates Netflix renewed The Diplomat for Season 3 in October 2024, before Season 2 even premiered, showing strong confidence in the series. Production began in June 2024, with filming taking place in London and New York City, and wrapped in mid-to-late March 2025, earlier than the initially planned March 20 date. This dual-location shoot reflects the show's commitment to capturing the global scope of diplomatic affairs. The early renewal and back-to-back filming with Season 2 (to avoid delays like those caused by the 2023 strikes) suggest Netflix is prioritizing a quicker turnaround. Executive producer Janice Williams noted that the show is 'almost finished filming' as of early 2025, with most work now in the editing room, further supporting a fall 2025 release. Additionally, Netflix announced a Season 4 renewal in May 2025, ahead of Season 3's premiere, ensuring that Kate Wyler's story will continue beyond the upcoming season. What's next in Love Island USA Season 7 Episode 5? Recoupling drama and new bombshells await
By Aman Shukla Published on June 7, 2025, 19:00 IST Last updated June 7, 2025, 13:50 IST Love Island USA Season 7 is heating up, and Episode 5 promises to deliver more steamy romance, jaw-dropping drama, and unexpected twists in the Fiji villa. Hosted by Ariana Madix, the reality dating show continues to captivate audiences with its mix of love, betrayal, and challenges. If you're wondering what's in store for Episode 5, here's a breakdown of what to expect based on the season's trajectory so far. Love Island USA Season 7 Episode 5: What to Expect Recoupling Tensions Reach a Boiling Point Episode 4 left the villa in chaos after a flirty baseball challenge and the arrival of bombshells Hannah and Amaya, which stirred insecurities and sparked drama. The recoupling ceremony looms large in Episode 5, and the choices made will likely shake up existing pairs. Current couples—Huda Mustafa and Jeremiah Brown, Olandria Carthen and Taylor Williams, Chelley Bissainthe and Austin Shepard, and Cierra Ortega and Nicolas Vansteenberghe—are under pressure, while singles like Belle-A Walker, Ace Greene, Charlie Georgiou, Hannah, and Amaya are poised to make bold moves. Expect fiery confrontations at the firepit as Islanders navigate loyalty, attraction, and betrayal. Huda and Jeremiah's Bond Faces New Tests Huda Mustafa's emotional revelation about being a single mom in Episode 4 deepened her connection with Jeremiah Brown, but the baseball challenge exposed vulnerabilities when bombshells Hannah and Amaya got physical with him. Episode 5 will likely explore whether Jeremiah's reassurances hold firm or if Huda's insecurities, amplified by the new girls' bold advances, create distance. Belle-A's Love Triangle Drama Escalates Belle-A Walker stirred the pot in Episode 4 by embracing her wild side during the baseball challenge, locking lips with Nic Vansteenberghe and fueling a love triangle with bombshell Cierra Ortega. Nic's indecision between Belle-A's sweet charm and Cierra's bold confidence left him in hot water, and Episode 5 will likely force him to make a choice during the recoupling. Will Belle-A's spicy moves secure her spot, or will Cierra's assertive approach win Nic over? This triangle is a ticking time bomb, and the fallout will be must-watch TV.
