Beyond The Gates Recap: Bill and Malone Stop Martin From Exposing Everyone's Secrets originally appeared on Daytime Confidential.
On today's Beyond The Gates recap:
Fairmont Country Club - Lobby: Dani reviews pictures of her modeling days when Vanessa arrives. They greet each other in a goofy but familiar way and Vanessa takes a seat. She asks what's wrong but Dani would rather hear about the fabulous location she's found for the modeling agency. She has something in Georgetown but thinks she should consider U Street. Dani notes the street used to be called Black Broadway. Vanessa notes all the black royalty who once lived there. Dani doesn't want to think about it as she's certain her return to modeling is going to flop. Vanessa is stunned to learn she might be going back, and Dani says it's Pamela's grand idea.
Naomi and Jacob's Apartment: Naomi (and her beautiful new hair) talks about June as Jacob is too distracted to listen. She sits in his lap and Jacob says he thinks Martin is in over his head. Naomi asks for details, and he fills her in on Kenneth's interactions with the kids. They don't have many details, and Martin won't explain anything to Smitty. Jacob goes on to explain Martin going to Malone which confuses Naomi as much as it does Jacob and Smitty. He thinks the whole situation is about to blow sky high.
Naomi thinks about June and wishes there was some way she could contact her family or anyone who would care what happens to her after she's released from the hospital. Jacob remembers the phone number on the picture but Naomi thinks it was a dead end. Jacob thinks she should keep calling back until someone talks to her.
Joey's Gambling Pit: Joey and Malone are playing cards. Just then, Malone gets a text saying Kenneth has been spotted. Bill arrives and Malone updates him on the lead to Kenneth's location. Bill goes off saying Martin is stressed out and threatening to take control of the operation. Vernon is trying to rein him in but they don't have a great deal of time. Just then, Malone exits to follow up on his lead.
Bill tells Joey that Vernon still wants to go the way of non-violence. However, those times are long gone since Kenneth made his way into Martin's house and chatted up both kids. Just then, Bill gets a call asking why Congressman Richardson is throwing an impromptu press conference.
Park: Smitty looks around when Kenneth walks up. Smitty asks why Kenneth has been hanging around his kids, but he thinks he should check in with his husband. Kenneth walks away but Smitty calls him back and asks for a message to give to Martin. Kenneth says to tell his husband he missed the deadline and wants him money tonight. He goes on to say Martin is, in fact, the bad guy in this situation.
Kenneth sits in the park alone when he sees breaking news of Martin's press conference.
Orphey Gene's: The restaurant is closed for Martin's press conference. A member of the press is curious why there's a lack of press corps and family. Just then, Vernon arrives and wants to chat about Martin's earlier encounter with Bill. He worries his grandson is going to unburden himself in a public forum. Martin all but confirms Vernon's assumptions as he warns his grandson not to ruin his life.
Vernon says a public confession isn't the answer, but Martin thinks it's the only way to protect the children. He goes on to give some details of what happened two years ago. Martin says he reacted to an obvious hate crime. Vernon jumps in and says he was defending the both of them. That being said, they didn't report it which means they are open to all kinds of scrutiny. Martin doesn't care as long as the kids are safe.
Vernon wants to throw cash at Kenneth, but Martin thinks he will keep coming back. He mentions the previously bungled payoff and Vernon says it was all Joey's fault. Martin says he never would have gone along with the plan had he known Joey was involved. Vernon begs Martin to put the press conference on hold for a few days so he can take care of the situation. Martin returns to the Joey of it all, but Vernon defends his involvement as desperate times form strange alliances. Martin is having none of it and believes he needs to confess.
Martin and Vernon rejoin the press folks in the front when Joey walks in. Vernon goes over and says the only reason the presser is happening is because of the mess Joey made. Joey denies making a mess but says everything is being taken care of as they speak. Just then, Bill arrives. Vernon explains why Martin is going rogue and how Bill should understand as he is a father, too. Bill gets it and says he will talk to Martin.
Vanessa walks in and is surprised to find Vernon and learn about Martin's press conference. She says she doesn't really follow politics but is there to meet with an impressive new client. She looks across the room and spots Joey. Vernon is surprised they keep company but she says she would sell anything to pretty much anyone. Joey tries to charm Vanessa who only wants to know why they are there.
Martin doesn't want to hear from Bill or anyone else who wants to change his mind about telling the truth. Bill thinks he is making a mistake but will stand by his decision. If Martin insists on telling the truth, Bill thinks he will need a good defense attorney. Martin is surprised by his uncle and accepts Bill's offer.
The last member of the press arrives and Martin is ready to get started. Bill tells him to run and get some water and let him do the introductions (Bill is so smooth). He takes the podium and says they will get started shortly. Vernon is confused by what's going on and Bill says he is stalling and to trust him. He returns to the podium and introduces himself and his relationship to Martin. Bill waxes poetic about Martin as a child and all the reasons he admires his nephew. Just then, Vernon looks out the window and spies Malone holding a gun on Kenneth and then dragging him away (I hope no camera crews are outside the presser!).
As Bill speaks, Vanessa wants to know why she and Joey are there. Joey likes watching her connect the dots. She connects them quickly as she realizes he needs to be seen with her in such a public place, so he has an unimpeachable alibi, for something…
Martin and Smitty's Digs: Samantha is filling in Tyrell on their pop decking Kenneth. She says they clearly know each other and have beef. Whatever the beef, their pop is completely freaked out and now the police are watching the house. Tyrell spies the cops from the window. Samantha tells Tyrell about Smitty's ultimatum to Martin and worries she just watched her parents split up. Just then, Smitty returns and says he needs a minute and then will do his best to answer all of their questions.
Smitty returns with two bags in hand and tells the kids they belong to their pop. They beg him not to throw pop out, but Smitty says he simply can't stay at the house with them right now. Samantha freaks out thinking it's her fault for talking to Kenneth. Tyrell joins in but Smitty says nothing is their fault. None of them had any way of knowing the man was dangerous. Samantha begs again for them to talk about it and Smitty relents.
Samantha asks what's going on and Smitty admits he doesn't really know. Tyrell thinks his dad is being evasive, but Smitty says he's still piecing things together. The only thing he knows for certain is their pop went to the police and asked for 24-hour protection. Smitty can't get beyond Martin keeping secrets which put them at risk. Samantha asks that they wait for pop to get home so they can figure out what to do together.
Smitty says the secret about Kenneth isn't the only thing their pop has been holding back. Tyrell inquires and Smitty say Martin has been keeping secrets for months. They've been arguing for a while. The kids know they've been fighting but think they shouldn't just give up. Smitty hopes everything works out but asks what the one family rule is. In unison, the kids say, 'everybody tells everybody everything.'
Previous Beyond The Gates Recap:
Endings
Naomi dials the number from the photograph and gets an answer. She introduces herself and asks if they know someone named June. They hang up and an enraged Naomi calls right back. This time, the person on the other line says, 'don't call this number again, my sister is dead to me.'
Smitty apologizes to the kids for the situation but says he can't let things with their pop continue. They have a lot of issues to deal with so their pop could be gone for a while. The kids are upset and Smitty sits between them and pulls them close.
Martin interrupts Bill's generous introduction and takes the podium. As Martin is clearly about to step down from his post, Bill gets a text from Malone saying 'done' with a picture of a seemingly dead Kenneth. Bill slides the phone under Martin's nose and the sight of the picture renders him speechless. Bill retakes the podium and says they have to cut the presser short as they have a family emergency. Bill leans down to Martin and says, 'it's over.'

Doug hates he broke Julie's heart and trust and then tries to leave. Julie holds him up and asks if she will help her put on her grandmother's necklace. Doug takes the necklace and clasps it around Julie's neck. He says it looks lovely on her and Julie says it makes her feel closer to her mother and grandmother. Doug says he gets it as one of his most prized possessions is a pair of cufflinks from his grandpa Robert. Just then, Julie tells Doug to stay put and runs in the other room. Julie finds Doug's pocket watch and kisses it. When she returns, she hands it to young Douglas and says it belonged to his other grandfather. Doug thanks Julie for her kindness. Doug is so very grateful and Julie says she knows it's what Doug would have wanted. Marlena and John's Penthouse: Belle asks Marlena about EJ's hypnosis session. She hesitates because of doctor/patient confidentiality but Belle says he already told her about it. She wonders if trauma is actually what's keeping him from remembering the shooting. Marlena isn't certain. Belle apologizes as she doesn't want to stress her mother out. She asks about the grief they are both experiencing about John and wonders if they talk about it enough with everything going on. Belle wants her mother to know she never forgets it but doesn't bring it up as she wants to respect her as a psychiatrist. Johnny and Chanel get a little frisky when they realize they've got a little time on their hands. Sarah admits she should have separated from Xander when he tried to hurt Brady. She promises to stop talking about Xander, but he says she can vent to him whenever she wants. Sarah says she has so much time on her hands as Victoria is with Xander. She then agrees to go to dinner with him and Rachel. After they exit, Sarah pulls up Sophia's ultrasound and confirms the baby was a boy. Belle returns from walking Susan out and finds her mother asleep on the sofa. She covers her with a blanket and exits the room. The camera focuses on Marlena and shoots to the book '1001 Arabian Nights.' In her dreams, we find Marlena in her nightgown entering what seems to be a restaurant. She asks aloud what this place is and then two scantily clad women wrap luxurious fabric around her. Pedro Pascal videos are going viral again — and it sure does feel like a smear campaign

Transphobes have just been introduced to the concept of platonic touch, and they are spiraling. Pedro Pascal is going viral on social media, but instead of it being for his sexy arms or admitting he's 'into submission,' this time it's because right-wing trolls are attempting a smear campaign. It all started when posts started cropping up on social media earlier this week that accused Pascal of 'groping' his costars during press tours and red carpet events. Overnight, the discourse on X went from Pascal being everyone's favorite daddy to him being criticized for using his social anxiety as an excuse to be too touchy-feely and overly familiar with his female co-stars. And, of course, when you trace the bizarre trend back to its origin, there is an anti-trans 'activist' at its heart. Anti-trans bully Posie Parker, otherwise known as Kellie-Jay Keen Minshull, captioned a clip of Pascal holding Fantasist Four co-star Vanessa Kirby's arm and placing a hand on her hip, 'He never gets the anxiety gropes around men, does he?!' This is likely a targeted attack because Pascal has a trans sister he is supportive of, is a vocal trans ally who regularly stands up to anti-trans celebrities like J.K. Rowling, and has been seen wearing a 'Protect the Dolls' T-shirt in public. Since her post on July 23, countless accounts on X have parroted this false narrative about Pascal using anxiety as an excuse to mistreat the women he works with. Parker has clearly never seen the way Pascal interacts with male co-stars. From snuggling with Oscar Isaac to his bromance with Paul Mescal, Pascal is just as affectionate with men as he is with women. His co-stars are just as lovey-dovey with Pascal, too. Kirby can be seen caressing his neck while on the Fantastic Four press tour; there are photos of Issac holding Pascal like he's a baby and another where he is kissing Pascal on the cheek. People on social media have also tried to claim that the women look like they are cringing away from Pascal when he touches them, but that doesn't jive with the actual video footage or what countless co-stars have said about him in interviews. Even Kirby has defended Pascal touching her on the red carpet, "He does have anxiety, and he's been open about it... but the way he holds your hand or anchors you? That's him being protective, not anxious." And despite what right-wing trolls on social media want you to believe, physical touch isn't sexual harassment when there is consent. There may still be a bizarre number of negative posts on X, but people have started defending Pascal and calling out the weirdos who don't seem to understand that you can touch a woman without it being sexual. "They're trying to make it illegal for women to have a gay best friend' "pedro pascal is physically affectionate with the women around him without sexualising it and most men just can't comprehend that because THEY sexualise every interaction they have with any woman" "Women are okay with you touching them with permission. This is not that difficult to understand if you aren't a terminally online radical" Transphobes can keep trying, but it seems like Pascal's reputation within the industry and his devoted fan base will keep this smear campaign from working. Beyond The Gates Recap: Nicole Learns Bill Orchestrated Kenneth's Murder

Beyond The Gates Recap: Nicole Learns Bill Orchestrated Kenneth's Murder originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Anita and Vernon's Mansion: Anita is practicing her choreography when Vernon walks in and fawns over her. Just then, Martin walks in and says he's headed to his mother's house. He says he's coming clean to her about what happened to Kenneth. Smitty has told him the only way they are getting back together is if he comes clean to family about everything. Nicole's Pad: Nicole is on the phone with the head of the hospital. She says she is ready to come back to work. Nicole thinks the storm has passed with her family and she shouldn't have to deal with anymore surprises. Martin arrives and notices his mother's smile. She says she's moving forward and going back to work. Martin hates the thought that he might be about to set her back. He promises it's the last detail he left out. They take a seat, and Martin tells his mother about Kenneth and how Bill, Malone, Joey and Elon took care of him. She is stunned to hear about Elon as she thinks he's of high moral character. Nicole asks if her dad knew and Martin says they were both in the dark (Oh Martin, what you don't know…). Nicole says she doesn't understand why folks won't tell her things as she isn't a delicate flower. No one is going to love and protect him more than she will. Martin understands but says he didn't want to lose the dream of being President and knew she would make him face the truth. Nicole realizes she's at fault for not asking questions as she should've known something was going on both with him and Ted. She thinks they should work some of these issues out under the guise of client-patient privilege (um, no). They agree and Nicole says she needs to go take care of something. Orphey Gene's: Jacob arrives and takes a seat with Naomi. He tells her about Leslie pressing charges Nicole with Ted as the only witness. She thinks it was smart for him to decline a statement. Naomi hopes and prays her husband didn't put cuffs on another member of her family. Jacob says he took the evidence he had to the DA who said it wasn't enough for an arrest. He says he tries to ignore the Dupree missteps but wonders what Vernon would do. Naomi says her grandfather would protect his own no matter what. Martin arrives and Jacob walks up to chat. He says he heard about him and Smitty and is rooting for them to get back together. He probes a bit why Martin stepped away from the family and says he wants to help with the man who was stalking them. Martin shades the truth saying, as far as he knows, the man hasn't made contact with anyone recently. Martin appreciates Jacob's offer but says he and Smitty will work it out. Jacob continues bringing up Kenneth's death in the park and how it can't be a coincidence it happened around his press conference. Martin goes into politician mode and says he and his constituents are always concerned about a rise in crime in the area. He's glad Marcel is on the case as he's certain he will find the culprit. With that, he gets up to grab takeout and leave. Hotel – Eva's Room: Eva and Tomas arrive back as she looks for the book to give him. He gets tickled when she acts all kinds of shy. Tomas isn't concerned about the book. He just wants to hang with her. Eva says she's a wee bit freaked out and doesn't know what happens next. Tomas says they could simply talk about books or continue what they started at Orphey Gene's. With that, they kiss and hit the sheets. As they get hot and heavy, Eva stops because of Kat as it's what she's been accusing her of this very thing. Tomas says he and Kat aren't exclusive. She wonders if Kat has the same understanding. Eva says she wants to be the main character rather than the side piece. She finally has the chance to be the heroine of the story. Just then, Kat bangs on the door saying they need to talk. Eva pushes Tomas to head to the bathroom but her refuses. Eva answers the door and Kat rushes in. She is stopped dead in her tracks when she sees Tomas, who says he's just there to pick up a book. Kat has no time and exits. Tomas is annoyed he didn't hide in the bathroom. Eva is more than irritated that Tomas still hid by lying to Kat about why he is there. She finds the book and tries to push Tomas out. He apologizes and hopes Eva will continue to allow him in her life. With that, he exits and Eva says 'the end.' Bill and Hayley's Place: Bill notices his wife's new dress and says she looks wonderful and would never know she was pregnant. They chat a bit about their upcoming child and he says he put another deposit in the college fund that covers everything for undergraduate education. Hayley thinks they are all lucky to be Hamiltons. Hayley asks where he stands with the Dupree. Bill says they only call him if they need something. She was hoping their grip on him would loosen and is disturbed that he can't quit them. Bill says that is no longer the case. Nicole arrives, storms into the living room and calls Bill a murderer. Hayley sees the resemblance between Nicole and Dani and tells her to get out. Bill intervenes and asks his wife to give them a moment. Bill chastises Nicole as Hayley knows nothing of the Martin situation. Nicole thinks Hayley deserves to know who her baby daddy is as she should have known Ted was someone else's baby daddy. Bill tries to avoid giving up any details of his own actions, but Nicole is done. She says she knows the whole story and is DONE listening to his foolishness. Bill pushes back saying she is clearly joining the Dupree hypocrites and sitting up on high whilst he does the family's dirty work. He asks how Martin would have fared if he had to go through a trial for killing a racist. Bill says, no matter the means, he's the one who saved Martin, not her. Anita and Vernon's Mansion: Naomi arrives and tells them about the new case that landed on Jacob's desk which makes it seem like Martin is guilty of something. She can't imagine how Martin is in trouble and they don't know anything about it. She then realizes she might be the only one out of the loop. They're silence speaks volumes and she realizes they can't say because she's married to a police officer. Anita and Vernon don't want her to have to carry the burden of the truth but Naomi wants to know everything. Vernon hands her a dollar and retains her as their attorney which begins privilege. With that, Vernon tells her the story of two years prior. They continue by telling her about Kenneth dying at the hands of Malone. Vernon says Elon played his part in both the investigation around Martin and Kenneth. Anita says Elon is a good man as they all thought they were doing the right thing by protecting Martin. Naomi can't believe what she's hearing. Anita goes on to tell Naomi that Martin and Vernon wanted to pay Kenneth off, but Bill and Joey had other plans. Naomi can't believe Bill instigated murder. Vernon says he is also at fault for going to Bill but thought there were lines 'the fixer' wouldn't cross. Previous Beyond The Gates Recap: Endings Kat walks in and vents about Eva and Tomas to Martin. She says Tomas is a liar and a cheater like all men. Martin tries to get his sister to pump the brakes, and she takes a breath. Nicole wishes the Dupree family never came in contact with the likes of Bill. He says the almighty Vernon is to blame. Bill can't imagine the patriarch of an upstanding family needing a cleanup man. Nicole thinks he is a piece of work. Bill continues saying he was once a Dupree believer. He says he is just as disappointed in the Duprees as she is right now. Nicole does a slow clap and tells Bill to stay away from her entire family. She says SHE is the fixer now! Naomi tells the grands she thought her father had changed. She let him back in but thought the worst of the secrets and lies had passed. Killing someone was something she thought her father wasn't capable of. Naomi moves on reminding her grandparents of Jacob's investigation into Martin and now dead Kenneth. Anita asks how much he knows. Naomi says Jacob is putting the pieces together quickly. She says they need to prepare for the possibility their dirty laundry may be aired quite quickly.
