Lady Gaga Blocked From An All-Time Record By Music's Hottest Newcomer
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars scored one of the biggest global hits in recent memory with "Die With a Smile," and they have the chart records to prove it. The tune lived at No. 1 on both of Billboard's worldwide rankings for months, but all successful runs must come to an end eventually. The Grammy-winning collaboration recently stepped aside from the throne on the Billboard Global 200, and it has also now moved on from the top of the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. as well.
It looked for a while like the cut might have been on its way to making history and breaking an all-time record, but its impressive winning streak has finally come to an end—at least for now.
"Die With a Smile" earned 17 stays atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., including the past six frames in a row. This week, it slips to No. 2, making way for a newcomer who has just scored the biggest hit around the world. "Ordinary" by Alex Warren steps up to the summit on this ranking for the first time.
The track reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 several weeks ago but had been kept from the top spot on the list that excludes all streaming and sales activity from America… until now. The two tunes swap spaces, and Gaga and Mars may not be able to recover.

U.S. It is just two frames away from tying the all-time record — which Mars also claims with another musician. His duet with Blackpink singer Rosé, "Apt.," collected a total of 19 stays in the penthouse and was in direct competition with "Die With a Smile" for a long stretch of that time.
While it's possible that "Die With a Smile" could return to the top, "Ordinary" has some real momentum behind it. Global audiences appear to still be waking up to the track, and it could lead for quite some time.
That said, the throwback-sounding duet likely won't disappear anytime soon. In fact, it could remain inside the top 10 for several more months, as it has already been living in that region since last fall.
This is not the first time that "Die With a Smile" has been dethroned on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The tune first reached No. 1 in early September 2024. It reigned for two months before "Apt." replaced it. Throughout 2025, those two tracks have traded positions multiple times.

‘Stranger Things' Premiere Dates Revealed for 'Blockbuster' Final Season
Netflix has finally revealed when the long-awaited and fifth and final season of Stranger Things will debut. The streamer announced the final season of the coming-of-age sci-fi hit will air in three parts late this year. The first will premiere Nov. 26, followed by part two on Christmas and the series finale on New Year's Eve. The plan is also to have a bit of a time jump going into the final episodes. 'I'm sure we will do a time jump,' Ross told TVLine. 'Ideally, we'd have shot [seasons four and five] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. So these are all discussions we're going to have with our writers when we start the room up.' Netflix has confirmed that the show would jump a little over a year to the fall of 1987, after season four took place in March 1986. The creators have also previously teased upcoming projects in the Stranger Things universe. 'There are more Stranger Things stories to tell and in the works,' Matt said. 'It's a bit early at this point to talk about them, but we're deeply involved in every one — it's very important to us that anything with the Stranger Things name on it is of the highest quality and not repetitive — that it has a reason to exist and always blazes its own path. And also, it needs to basically just be … awesome. Or we need to think it's awesome. And there are a lot of what we think are awesome things in the pipeline.' Netflix's hit Wednesday released the opening scene of its highly anticipated second season — and officially announced Lady Gaga as joining the cast. The streamer for the first time confirmed the singer-actress is joining the little monsters at Nevermore Academy, playing a still undisclosed guest role on the upcoming season of the hit series, which stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams as she attends a school for outcasts with unusual abilities. Emerging from a coffin with the words 'Here lies the monster queen' on the lid and backed by a cadre of Addams Family-esque dancers, Gaga performed 'Zombieboy' from her recently released album Mayhem. Following another dance performance — to the Cramps' 'Goo Goo Muck,' which soundtracked Wednesday's viral dance scene in season one — Gaga re-emerged to perform 'Abracadabra' before returning to her coffing. The series and the singer had previously connection after the first season aired. Ortega's dance scene in the show (with moves inspired by Siouxsie Sioux and Bob Fosse, among others) went viral and there was a popular remix version of the dance using Lady Gaga's song 'Bloody Mary.' Lady Gaga then performed the 'Bloody Wednesday' dance herself on TikTok (check it out, below). Wednesday season two (watch the trailer) will be released in two parts; the first will be released Aug. 6 and the second will drop Sept. 3. Gaga will be one many newcomers to the show in season two, which also added Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor as series regulars and Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O'Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Joonas Suotamo in guest roles. They join returning cast Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Fred Armisen, Isaac Ordonez and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo. Lady Gaga's previous acting credits include Joker: Folie à Deux, A Star Is Born — for which she won an Oscar for best original song and was nominated for best actress — House of Gucci and two seasons of FX's American Horror Story. The first season of Wednesday — from creator/showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar along with executive producer and director Tim Burton — was a smash for the streamer in 2022. Wednesday became the most-viewed English language series in the studio's history, with 252 million views, and spent 20 weeks in the streamer's global Top 10 (Squid Game remains Netflix's biggest hit internationally). The series also catapulted Ortega to a new level of stardom, which was further fueled by her role in Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice last fall. Along with Gaga's performance, Netflix released the opening minutes of season two, with Wednesday locked in a serial killer's (Haley Joel Osment) basement, recounting how she ended up there and explaining that the killer thinks she is his next victim.
