Netflix's Wednesday viewers make same complaint as season two makes huge change
The new season of Wednesday has launched on Netflix this week but not everyone is impressed. Fans have waited close to three years for more episodes and some viewers have now complained over one aspect of the TV show's return.
Jenna Ortega is back in the role of Wednesday Addams for the second season, which promises a "darker and more complex" journey for the Nevermore Academy student. It's teased that she has to navigate "old adversaries" whilst "plunged" in a "new bone-chilling supernatural mystery".
Wednesday debuted on the streaming platform with its first season, which consisted of eight episodes, in 2022. Today, the first part of its second season was released, featuring four episodes. Part two, which will have the remaining four episodes of the season, is due to be released next month.
A number of fans have expressed disappointment over the decision to divide the season into two parts. Wednesday follows in the footsteps of various other shows like Stranger Things and You, which have also released split seasons.
One fan wrote on X: "The new season of Wednesday is not even complete? @Netflix you are a joke." Another said: "Why do they always have to split it into two parts?!" A third wrote: "So we waited this long for only 4 episodes? P***take."
Someone else said: "The new season of #Wednesday is split in two parts? Seriously #Netflix. This is the worst business model. One episode a week or whole season at once. Those are the only acceptable options. You'll get crap numbers for this cause people will wait to binge. Not good enough."
Another fan complained: "So we had to wait 3yrs for 4 new episodes to drop of #Wednesday on @netflix I fcking hate streaming." One viewer said following the release today: "Wtf is wrong with Netflix ?? Just 4 episodes ?? Really ????"
Whilst someone wrote: "Why would Netflix split up season 2 of Wednesday into two parts? Why are we constantly doing stupid unnecessary releases like I just want to go back to a sense of normalcy. I'm about to stop giving a f*** and just watch shows on NBC and CBS. I can't do this anymore."
Others suggested they will wait for the entire season. One wrote: "I'm not watching Wednesday until part two come out. I hate this parts s***." Another said: "Only 4 episodes of Wednesday .... imma just wait for part 2 this ridiculous."
As previously reported by Deadline, whilst speaking about splitting seasons of its shows in January, Netflix's chief content officer Bela Bajaria said that some content had been split for "reasons" such as to avoid audiences waiting too long if the pandemic or strikes affected production, whilst others are "creator-driven," including if those behind a show felt that there was a "natural emotional break". Bela added: "So there's no set way, it depends on what's best for the show."
Despite the complaints over the decision to split the second season, many fans have expressed excitement over the show's return. It's included viewers sharing compliments over the four episodes included in the first part.
One person wrote: "Just finished first 4 episodes of #Wednesday S02 and trust me the show had become more interesting in this season, can't wait for the next episodes." They concluded: "Totally loved it. 10/10 from my side."
Another said: "These 4 episodes of #Wednesday season 2 are amazing!!" Someone else commented earlier: "A fantastic start to Season 2! September feels [too] far away." A fourth wrote: "I've watched Wednesday, can't wait for part 2 next month!"
The second season has also been met with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 84% from critics following almost 50 reviews, making it Certified Fresh - a title given to the "best-reviewed" content that fulfils certain requirements. The season also has a score of 83% from audiences. By comparison, the first season has 73% from critics and 85% from fans.
Part one of Wednesday's second season is available on Netflix now. Part two, featuring the remaining four episodes, is scheduled to be released on September 3.

Jonathan Van Ness shows off incredible body transformation after the 'hardest time'
Netflix star Jonathan Van Ness has debuted his impressive body transformation as he revealed how he has lost almost five stone on his health and fitness journey Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness revealed his dramatic body transformation as he came through his "toughest time". The hairstylist, 38, celebrated his impressive weight loss journey and shared what he had learnt. He shared before and after clips of him working on his fitness by playing padel ball, running and gymnastics. Earlier this year, Jonathan shared how he dropped a massive 66 pounds (4.7 stone). In his latest clip, the Netflix star donned a pair of black trunks as he took a selfie in the mirror. Jonathan captioned his post: "POV you made it through your hardest time and came out stronger for it." It comes after photos show Holly Willoughby letting her hair down in white swimsuit on sun soaked holiday. He then shared short clips of him running in a black vest before cutting to a shot of him topless with a toned stomach. Jonathan did an impressive backflip as he showed off his new strength. "The last few years have taught me so much. Loss, grief, endings, transitions, and mental health challenges, I hope my journey can help you in yours," Jonathan shared alongside his post. Jonathan was flooded with supportive comments from his followers as they left strings of fire emojis under his post. One fan said: "Love this for you!" Another added: "Proud of you!" Someone else commented: "Stronger and more fabulous the strongest steel is forged in." A fourth wrote: "You were always gorgeous and strong. But you seem happier now and that's the only thing that matters." Back in February, Jonathan put two photos next to each other, both showing him wearing just a pair of black boxers. The photo, from the popular app MyFitnessPal, showed Jonathan looking much slimmer in the 'after' shot. He showed off visible muscles on his stomach and proudly flexed his biceps. 'Lost 66 pounds!," Jonathan celebrated alongside the photos. He also revealed that a variety of methods had helped him on his fitness journey. 'I want to note, glp-1s have been a huge help,' he revealed. GLP-1 is a class of medications used to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity. The star added: 'I have also made major other changes. First was my diet obvs, second was way less alcohol, and finally group pilates which has been most pivotal. "My mental health and overall feeling is a different universe since last year and the biggest change was group fitness. Overall though, I'm so proud of myself and want to share. Take what works for you & leave the rest.' Big Mouth star Jonathan has been open about his weight loss journey for years, admitting that he struggled with an eating disorder which was responsible for his frequent size changes. In 2022, he revealed: 'Always been a hot and sexy sl*t but have also been struggling with binge eating disorder at the same time for a very long time. 'In April after years of feeling out of control with food I got help. It's been interesting because I now prioritise making time to eat, planning to eat and actually eating. "It used to be my lowest priority which would make me so hungry that when I would eat, I would binge. This has been and continues to be a healing journey I'm grateful to be on.'

Netflix users can't believe 'raunchy' new show is allowed on the streaming platform
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Netflix subscribers have been binge-watching a new series that's so "raunchy" users can't believe it's available on the streaming platform. Film enthusiast Lexy Puhlick, who goes by on social media, has encouraged viewers to watch it after confessing to viewing five episodes in one sitting. In her TikTok video, she said: "Everyone needs to stop what they're doing and watch the new show on Netflix called The Waterfront. I was able to bed rot all day today and I started the series in the morning and now I'm on episode five. To be honest, I don't want the show to be over. "There's only eight episodes so I'm going to force myself to stop watching it now so I don't sit and binge watch it for the entire day." The series, which carries a 15 rating, follows a "prominent North Carolina fishing family wades into treacherous waters to keep their crumbling business empire afloat.", reports the Mirror. Developed by Kevin Williamson, it features Holt McCallany, Melissa Benoist and Jake Weary - and boasts a 7 star rating from 142 reviews on IMDb. She added: "The show is so good - the actors, the actresses, the storyline. Honestly, the love scenes, they're hot. Actually, I'm a little bit shocked that Netflix allowed the type of scenes that they did." Responding to her post, one user said: "My husband and I just started it! We are addicted too." Another user added: "Agreed! Reminds me of Animal Kingdom and Ozarks." A third viewer commented: "I enjoyed it too! The only thing: I found the acting in the first episodes really bad, especially the son and this wife. But I kept on watching and started to enjoy. Loved the voices of the mom and dad and the soundtrack." One IMDb critic remarked: "A solid series that's both entertaining and full of telenovela drama. "There are a few cheesy main actors and a ridiculous scene every now and then, but a good show nonetheless. That 70's show actor is one of the bad guys, named Grady. "And while he's annoying in everything he does, his character actually fits in this particular show. "Does that make him a good actor all of a sudden? No, it just means his annoying character that he plays in everything he does, just fits this series. "Another main character, Cane, doesn't do too well here even though he's done a better job in other shows, like Animal Kingdom." Someone else noted: "Decent storyline. Some of the dialog is predictable and has me skipping ahead, though. The episode endings have been pretty good transitions between each. "I find a cadence of watching the last part of the episode, then the first part of the next episode, and kind of skipping through the middle. But that's just me. I'm still watching it though - it is enjoyable."
