Star Wars actor says the series has ‘gotta give us Battlefront 3 ASAP'

Metro2 days ago

One of Andor's stars has helped bring Star Wars Battlefront back into the spotlight and he's not the only one amongst the cast to be an avid gamer.
It's been more than five years since EA wrapped up support for Star Wars Battlefront 2 and while the company has continued to push out new titles for the franchise, it appears to have little interest in making a Battlefront 3.
Over the last few weeks, though, Battlefront 2 enjoyed a sudden surge in players, on both PC and consoles, which has prompted some hope that EA will be encouraged to start work on a new sequel.
It's not entirely clear what promoted the surge in interest, but it seems to have been a combination of Star Wars Day in early May, the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith (which became the highest-grossing re-release of all time in the US), and the second season of Andor on Disney+.
Speaking of which, actor Muhannad Ben Amor, who played the role of Wilmon 'Wil' Paak in Andor, has also expressed his interest in seeing a third entry in the multiplayer shooter series.
In the wake of the show's conclusion earlier this month, he took to Instagram to say, 'Star Wars gotta give us Battlefront 3 ASAP.'
He also shared a screenshot of his playtime on Battlefront 2, revealing he's spent about 469 hours on the game: 'Been a veteran since day one. Let's hope Battlefront 3 happens!'
Considering Amor would have been a young teenager when Battlefront 2 was out (he's roughly 19 or 20 years old and the game launched in 2017), he's clearly in pretty deep.
His original posts were Instagram Stories, so they've already automatically deleted themselves, but fans on Reddit were quick to save them as screenshots to spread Amor's comments around.
According to SteamDB, Battlefront 2's concurrent player count has reached over 18,600 players, the most it's ever been since the game launched on Steam in 2020. The game has also shot up the best-seller lists on Xbox and PlayStation 5.
Mats Helge Holm, who served as associate producer on Battlefront 2's Celebration Edition, has weighed in on the situation, stating on Reddit that there's interest amongst the old team to work on a sequel: '… having heard around my group of ex-colleagues, we want to get the gang back together.'
It's not him but the bean counters at EA who get to make that decision, although this wouldn't be the first time a Star Wars actor influenced one of their games.
John Boyega, who played Finn in the sequel trilogy of movies, publicly complained about the lack of a single-player campaign in the 2015 Star Wars Battlefront, which led to EA offering him an invitation to its UK studio.
EA never publicly said Boyega's comments contributed to the decision to add a campaign mode to Battlefront 2, but it did get one and Boyega agreed to do some marketing for it.
Perhaps surprisingly though, Ben Amor is not the only keen gamer amongst the Andor cast. Ben Mendehlson, who played Director Krennic (a role he reprised from Rogue One), has previously expressed his love for the likes of The Last Of Us, Fallout, and the Civilization series. More Trending
He was no doubt surprised to discover then, that Andor co-star Denise Gough was the voice of Yennefer in The Witcher 3; a role she admits she forgets she's done sometimes.
That suggests that Mendehlson is probably more of a single-player fan, but we get the sense he'd jump at the opportunity to lend his voice to Battlefront 3 if it featured Krennic.
As for what Star Wars games EA is working on, its next release is strategy game Star Wars: Zero Company, which has enough similarities to XCOM to make it one of our most anticipated releases of 2026.
A third Star Wars Jedi game is also on the cards and will serve as the 'final chapter' of protagonist Cal Ketis' journey – although it's not yet been formally announced.

Fandoms have also become increasingly powerful — and toxic. Adult fans have a lot of disposable income to spend on cinema tickets (which are expensive these days), merchandise, and theme parks. They also don't always behave well on the internet. Look at how Bella Ramsey is currently being treated by fans of The Last of Us video games. Or how the young stars of the Star Wars sequel trilogy were appallingly treated. Daisy Ridley had to quit Instagram over the harassment she faced, much of it sexist, while John Boyega was frequently the target of racial abuse. Fan is a truncation of fanatic, and in the febrile atmosphere of online platforms it doesn't take much to spark a torrent of hate at a public figure.

Miley Cyrus' rarely seen age-gap boyfriend joins her mom Tish and sister Brandi at album listening party

Miley Cyrus ' boyfriend Maxx Morando made a rare appearance Tuesday night as he stepped out to support the singer at her star-studded album listening party. The Grammy winner, 32 — who's gearing up to release her ninth studio album Something Beautiful on May 30 — has been quietly dating the Lilly drummer since 2021. Maxx was seen leaving the Chateau Marmont with Miley after she delivered a fiery live performance previewing tracks from the upcoming record. With his signature long, curly black hair on full display, the musician took the wheel as Miley rode shotgun, chatting animatedly with an unidentified acquaintance in the back seat. While A-listers like U2's Bono, Rita Ora, and Anya Taylor-Joy were among the big names in attendance, Miley's mom Tish and sister Brandi also made the guest list — despite recent family tension. Miley Cyrus ' boyfriend Maxx Morando made a rare appearance Tuesday night as he stepped out to support the singer at her star-studded album listening party Maxx's public outing comes on the heels of his surprise cameo in the music video for Miley's latest single, End of the World. Despite keeping a low profile for most of their relationship, the couple has slowly become more visible in recent months. In March, Miley and Maxx made a rare red carpet appearance at the 97th Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood, later turning heads at the star-studded Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. Just weeks earlier, the pair were also spotted in New York City attending the SNL 50: The Anniversary Special, and later, the Homecoming Concert — where they were joined by Miley's mom Tish. Their increasingly frequent public appearances have fueled speculation that the two may be ready to take their relationship to the next level — though neither has commented on what the future holds. And Cyrus has also been open about their six-year age gap and told Harper's Bazaar last year, 'He looks at life really differently than I do. 'He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and he's raised our dog off Reddit.' The Flowers hitmaker added, 'I'm like, "Are you sure we're supposed to be doing this?" And he's like, "On Reddit it says blah, blah, blah." He's very similar to me. We just don't take life too seriously.' The singer appeared to be surrounded as she cut through the crowd at Chateau Marmont Earlier this month, Miley out about where she stands with Tish and dad Billy Ray Cyrus, after months of speculation surrounding a rumored family rift. The pop superstar had found herself in the middle of ongoing drama—just a day earlier, she reunited with Billy Ray, who has stirred headlines with pointed social media posts and a whirlwind romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley. Meanwhile, Miley's mom Tish came under fire after fans noticed she had seemingly unfollowed her daughter on Instagram —a move she later denied. The moment followed Tish's own reconciliation with daughter Noah Cyrus after their much-discussed falling out. Miley took to Instagram to shut down the rumors and set the record straight. 'I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us,' Miley wrote in a statement on her Instagram Story. 'She's my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental and uninteresting.' Miley also addressed her relationship with Billy Ray, 62, acknowledging their rocky past but insisting they're in a better place now. The pop superstar has found herself in the middle of ongoing drama—earlier this month, she reportedly reconciled with Billy Ray, who has stirred headlines with pointed social media posts and a whirlwind romance with actress Elizabeth Hurley; (Billy Ray, Miley and Tish in 2019) 'My dad and I have had our challenges over the years,' she continued. 'Now, in my 30s, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.' She ended her post on a hopeful note, writing: 'Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.' Miley also shared a heartwarming Instagram photo with her dad Billy Ray, as they came together to celebrate her brother Braison's 31st birthday. The father-daughter duo looked to be in great spirits during the family gathering. Speculation of a possible rift between Miley and Billy arose this year - and a few months earlier in March, a source told that she is worried her father could ruin her music comeback.
