Did Joe Jonas confirm third instalment of Camp Rock? Here's what we know

Hindustan Times4 days ago
Singer-songwriter and actor Joe Jonas shared an update on the next season of the 2008 musical television film, Camp Rock. The singer made fans do a double-take when he made mention of a Camp Rock 3 while appearing on an episode of Hot Ones Versus with his brothers Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas, reported People. In a recent interview, Joe Jonas teased a Camp Rock 3, surprising his brother Nick Jonas.
Nick asks Joe to read his notes
Nick asked his brother to read his last Notes app entry out loud. Joe looked at the camera and said, "Oh, oh," and cleared his throat before saying, 'Read Camp Rock 3.' Nick put down his glass of milk as he made a shocked face at the camera, causing laughter from his brothers and the crew. He then said, "It's pretty good," causing Kevin to respond, "Okay, that's a pretty good one," as per the outlet.
"It's the truth," Joe said, before pointing at his phone and telling everyone, "It's literally right here." The conversation ended with Joe making a silly face as he said, "Sorry, Disney."
Camp Rock premiered on the Disney Channel on June 20, 2008, directed by Matthew Diamond from a screenplay by Karin Gist, Regina Hicks, Julie Brown, and Paul Brown. The film stars Demi Lovato, Joe Jonas, Meaghan Jette Martin, Maria Canals-Barrera, Daniel Fathers, and Alyson Stoner.
After the success of the film, a follow-up, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, premiered in 2010. After that, there was no official announcement or talk about the third film.
Nick wanted an R-rated instalment of the film
In 2017, however, Nick shared that he would be interested in filming an R-rated instalment of the film.
"If the right thing comes together, I think that'd be fun. It's a really delicate thing because they're two films really beloved by fans. So I think for it to work, it'd have to be some creative new version where we get a writing team and do something special," he said, noting that he "absolutely" enjoys working with his brothers and Lovato, reported People.
In June, Alyson Stoner, who played Caitlyn Geller in the Camp Rock films, said when asked about a third instalment: "I truly cannot confirm or deny anything. They haven't given me a ring."
"I wonder where that plot line would go," Stoner added. "It would thicken. It would have to thicken quite a bit to get all of us back," reported People.
'Camp Rock' and 'Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam' are now streaming on Disney . (ANI)

‘Hollywood's pressure to oppose Israel ruined Snow White,' says Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot recently opened up about why she thinks Disney's live-action Snow White fell flat. Touted as one of the studio's biggest live-action remakes of a childhood classic, the film, led by Rachel Zegler, flopped at the box office, facing sharp criticism over performances and a storm of political backlash. Speaking on Israeli TV show The A Talks, Gadot said the movie's outcome was 'incredibly affected' by the pressure on Hollywood stars to publicly take sides. From the casting of Rachel Zegler, an actor of Colombian and Polish descent, as the titular white character, to her past remarks and even rumours of a feud with Gal Gadot, everything together dragged Snow White down at the box office. But according to Gadot, best known for playing Wonder Woman, the real blow was the unsaid push on celebrities to speak against Israel in the ongoing war with Palestine. She explained, 'This happens across different industries, even in Hollywood. There's pressure on celebrities to speak against Israel. And it happened.' The worldwide total for its theatrical lifetime performance remained at an all-time low of $207 million. Gadot added that while she always tries to give context and explain her stance with an example, in the end, people make their own decisions. The actor admitted she was 'disappointed' that the controversy overshadowed the Snow White release, where she played the Evil Queen, saying: 'I thought this movie was going to be a huge hit, and then it happened. You win some, you lose some.' Despite the film's initial backlash, critics weren't as harsh. Variety's Owen Gleiberman actually praised the film, calling it one of Disney's better live-action remakes. However, the pre-release drama, from questionable CGI to actor Peter Dinklage, who has a form of dwarfism, criticising the decision to remake a story about 'seven dwarfs living in a cave' as hypocritical, even as Disney was 'proud to cast a Latina actress,' combined with all the other issues made sure the movie couldn't sail at the box office. Zegler's anti-Trump remark, which she later apologised for, only made the situation worse. Behind the scenes, both Zegler and Gadot were also reportedly feuding over their contrasting political stance. Gadot, born in Israel and a former Israeli soldier, has been a vocal supporter of her country. Zegler has openly expressed support for Palestine and criticised Israel over the recent Gaza situation. When the film opened in March, it fell short of its $100 million box office target, leading Disney to pause the production of its live-action remake of Tangled.

Gal Gadot feels Rachel Zegler's comments against Israel led to Snow White failing at box office: 'I was disappointed'

Disney's live-action reboot of Snow White landed face-first at the box office when it released earlier this year. While the film was criticised for its lacklustre storytelling and performances, many felt that external factors - mainly lead star Rachel Zegler speaking out in support of Palestine - also hurt the film's box office prospects. Now, Gal Gadot, the film's other star, has concurred with that assessment, adding that the film's failure disappointed her. Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler in a promotional poster for Snow White. Gal Gadot on Snow White Mounted on a budget of over $250 million, Snow White barely earned $200 million worldwide, leading to massive losses for Disney. The Marc Webb film reportedly needed to earn $600 million to earn a profit, falling disastrously short of that mark. Recently, Gal Gadot spoke about the film on the Israeli chat show The A Talks. Speaking in Hebrew, the actor said, "First of all, I have to say that I really enjoyed filming this movie. I even enjoyed working with Rachel Zegler. We laughed, we talked, and it was fun. I was sure that this movie was going to be a huge success.' Gal Gadot, an Israeli, served in the Israeli Defence Forces for two years as part of her mandatory conscription. She has been a vocal backer of Israel in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. On the other hand, Rachel Zegler supported Palestine and Gaza, something that did not go down well with the film's producer, Marc Platt, as per reports. Zegler's comments, which came after the Israeli attack on Gaza in October 2024, ruffled quite a few feathers in Disney. Talking about it, Gal Gadot added, 'And then October 7 happened, and what's happening in all kinds of industries, and also in Hollywood, is that there's a lot of pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel. I can always explain and try to give people in the world context about what's happening and what the reality is here, but in the end, people decide for themselves. I was disappointed that the movie was greatly affected by that and didn't do well at the box office.' What box office analysts say Snow White started on a disastrous note at the box office and went downhill from there. Producer Marc Platt's son Jonah Platt attributed Snow White's underperformance in its opening week partly to Zegler's social media post supporting Palestine. However, box office analysts have said that political controversies did not affect the film's fate.
