Stranger Things fans have been left asking if Netflix is 'joking' over the release schedule for the fifth and final series.
It was announced in 2022 that the wildly popular sci-fi horror series had been renewed for a fifth season, but that it would mark the end of the show.
Season four left off with Hawkins being torn apart when a gate to the Upside Down opens following Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the gang's epic battle with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
After three long years of waiting, we finally have a release date for the episodes, but they come with a twist that has dampened some fans' excitement.
Netflix has announced that the last season of Stranger Things will be released in three parts on November 26, December 25, and December 31.

It's not the first time this has happened, with the first seven episodes of the fourth season released on May 27 and the final two episodes wrapping up the season debuted on July 1.

Fans have been left bowled over by the news, with many asking if it was a 'joke' and lamenting how long they have had to wait for the final episodes to hit our screens, with season four wrapping up in 2022.
'Three episodes per volume. You're joking 😭😭😭😭,' Sancheezzzy wrote on X, while Imani said 'It's been three years and we still gotta wait for parts. . .'
Steveislegend joked, 'This is going to take place in the nursing home', and Jimmy XRP added, 'Eleven is going to have children by the time this s**t is released.'
Some felt it had been 'too long' between the series and fans had 'forgotten' what had happened, and didn't 'care' enough anymore to catch up.
Truestorygrande shared a lengthy rant, writing on the social media platform: 'The way they just can't release it all at once, lmfao proves they enjoy making us wait, after waiting for near four years by the time it airs at the END of 2025
'I thought we'd get it around Halloween? also like who's gonna be streaming on new year's eve or xmas day… most are with friends or family so like if they're tracking streaming numbers on Netflix day of release…. they should've chose different days that AREN'T ALL three holidays.'
Others, however, thought the release schedule was a good idea to prevent spoilers (Picture: Netflix)

Everything we know about Stranger Things season five When will Stranger Things season five be released?
It has been announced that the fifth and final series of Stranger Things will be released in three parts: Volume 1 – November 26
Volume 2 – December 25
Volume 3 – December 31
Each of the volumes will drop in the United Kingdom at 1am GMT. Who is in the cast?
Tudum confirmed the cast for season five includes: Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers)
David Harbour (Jim Hopper)
Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven)
Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler)
Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson)
Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair)
Noah Schnapp (Will Byers)
Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield)
Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler)
Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers)
Joe Keery (Steve Harrington)
Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley)
Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair)
Brett Gelman (Murray)
Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna)
Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler)
Amybeth McNulty (Vickie)
Nell Fisher (Holly Wheeler)
Jake Connelly (Derek Turnbow)
Alex Breaux (Lt. Akers)
Linda Hamilton (Dr. Kay) What is the plot?
An official plot synopsis reads: 'The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown.
'Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.
'As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread.
'The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.'
They continued: 'Anyone I mention Stranger Things to irl, they're all annoyed it took this long and say the producers are acting like it's some avatar level when, it's not. I agree like it's complicated yes, but it's not that level.
'Near 4 years for 8 episodes. Just wow — tv shows don't NEED to be produced like movies, that's the point, and it's why we were able to get 25 episode seasons.. all an hour long too. I prefer not movie-like quality and more episodes, than movie-like quality + waiting years in between seasons, then having to rewatch AND getting less episodes.'
Many said they felt the season would be 'dragged out' by releasing it this way, but others thought it was a good way to prevent spoilers being leaked for the final episode.
'Netflix is releasing it in batches like this because they know people will start uploading the final scene of the last ep if it was released,' GothamChief theorised.
Luna_west08 added: 'Ahh, the final season is almost here!! November 26 for Volume 1 already has me buzzing, And ending the year with Volume 2 and 3? Talk about the ultimate binge fest 🎉 Who else is ready to cry and scream with me??'
The popular supernatural horror series launched in 2016 and stars Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder, who are all set to reprise their roles for the upcoming episodes.
Stranger Things season five, volume one will be released on Netflix on November 26, followed by volume two on December 25, and volume three on December 31.

John questioned by police on Nate's murder in Emmerdale

In the wake of the discovery of Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) untimely Emmerdale death, accusations are flying, but it's John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) who is sweating. Murderous John seemed to be high and dry after the dredging of the lake was called off, and with Aidan slipping back into his coma – the other person who could blow his cover – he smugly returned to the village to resume the new life he'd created for himself. But reality came back to bite him on the bum when they dredged the lake anyway and Nate's body was finally found. It's badly decomposed so it'll be harder for the police to gather much if any DNA, but there will be a thorough investigation regardless and John is not in the clear. Then his worst living nightmare comes true – the police show up to question him about the day Nate disappeared. Having got away with things for this long he plays it cool. But as it turns out, it's not him they're after – it's Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley). Now this does not a happy Cain make, and though the finger isn't pointing at John, John still needs to work hard to protect Cain from going down for a crime he didn't commit – especially in the wake of Tracy Shankley's (Amy Walsh) accusation towards him. Tracy later walks passed and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) can't resist giving her what for. Cain is left shaken and puts voice to a dark thought that he believes Tracy did away with her ex. Finger firmly pointed, Tracy feebly tries to defend herself, but John concocts a dreadful plan to take the heat off Cain. The police soon arrive at Tug Ghyll with a search warrant and make a massive discovery – Nate's phone in Frankie's playhouse. Now the fear sets in for Tracy as she realises how bad things are starting to look – just wait until they find out she's been using his credit card too. But before they even get that far, they learn there is no record of the removal men who came to collect Nate's stuff – the ones that Tracy was the only one to interact with. Coronation Street confirms huge Lisa shock as Betsy star reacts

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video There's a tough week ahead for Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in Coronation Street next week, as she faces Craig Tinker's memorial service – but there's more trouble on the cards. As she and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) admit how difficult the event will be, with Kit revealing that the family have asked him to make a speech, Carla Connor (Alison King) confides in Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) that she's worried about Lisa. In a bid to help Lisa take her mind off things, Carla comes up with a plan. As the day of Craig's memorial service arrives, Lisa apologises to Carla, before setting about distracting herself by going through some old files. However, when Betsy comes snooping and tries to take a peek at one of the files, Lisa snatches it from her, leaving the curious teen intrigued. Desperate to know what her mum was so keen to hide, Betsy confronts Lisa, who is quick to lie. She tells Betsy that the file contains information about Betsy's paternity, and that she can't see it until she turns 18. When Lisa arrives at the memorial service and notices Kit's absence, she is worried, but soon steps up in his place to deliver a moving speech for Craig. Meanwhile, Betsy clearly wants to know more about her mysterious findings, as Carla later returns home and catches her going through Lisa's files – but what exactly has she dug up? When Betsy shows a picture of the letter she's found to Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), she reveals that she intends to get to the bottom of it… When we caught up with actresses Cait and Sydney at the British Soap Awards, Cait shared her reaction to the twists in this story, saying: 'I was tired reading it!' 'There is a lot of drama coming up!' Sydney agreed, continuing: 'I'm intrigued for people to see it!' When Lisa asks Betsy to join her for lunch the next day, Betsy makes out that she's meeting Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne), who has recently been released from the STC. However, that proves to be a lie when she and Lauren enter the prison visiting room. As Betsy admits that she's a nervous wreck, is she set to make a deal with the devil? Meanwhile, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) drops her right in it when he lets slip to Lisa and Carla that Betsy ordered a cab to Highfield Prison. How will they react? As dramatic as this story is set to be, both Sydney Martin and Vicky Myers promised moments of light. 'I don't know how much we can say but there's some exciting stuff coming up,' Sydney promised. 'There's also some really sweet, important scenes in there. I can't go into detail, but I'm glad that they're airing.' More Trending Later in the evening, Vicky told us that 'there is a lot' still to come. 'There is a lot coming, but there's also periods of time that they're really happy, and there's periods of time when it's not going so well, but that's indicative of any relationship, isn't it? And any family life. View More » 'And living together in the small flat… Let's see how they navigate all of that!'
