Telangana BJP dismisses Congress protest in Delhi as ‘political stunt'
Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao, chief spokesperson N.V. Subash, and other leaders, issued separate statements questioning the absence of top Congress leadership, and calling the 'much-publicised' protest a 'damp squib'.
The BJP accused the ruling party of betraying BCs by allocating 10% of the promised 42% quota to Muslims, alleging it was a move driven by 'appeasement politics'. The leaders also criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling them 'petty politics'. They questioned why the CM had not given greater representation to BCs in his Cabinet or offered the CM post to a BC leader.
Mr. Kishan Reddy asserted that it was the Congress party's responsibility to fulfill its promise of providing quota to BCs, and warned that shifting the blame to BJP would not be tolerated.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar alleged that the protest was aimed at securing quota for Muslims rather than BCs.
Mr. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress of insincerity in implementing the BC quota and said that the party was making baseless allegations against the Modi government to deflect attention from its own failures. He added that BJP is willing to cooperate with Congress if it commits to granting the full 42% quota to BCs only. Mr. Subash described the protest in the national capital as a 'poorly-executed political gimmick'.

He mentioned that the "Malayalam calendar shows this year's Janmashthami date as 14th Sept, 2025(Sunday), NOT yesterday." Tharoor asked people to "enlighten" him as to why this is so. "Surely even a Bhagwan can't be born on two different days six weeks apart!," he said. "Is there a case for rationalising the dates of religious holidays so that all adherents of a faith can celebrate with their fellow believers at the same time? After all, Keralites don't observe a different Christmas!," Tharoor noted. An X user explained Tharoor why Janmashthami in Kerala fell on a different date than rest of the country. He said, 'Most of India follows the Purnimanta calendar (lunar month ending with the full moon) or the Amanta calendar (lunar month ending with the new moon) for determining festival dates.' "Janmashtami, celebrating Lord Krishna's birth, is observed on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon) in the month of Bhadrapada or Shravana, depending on the region," he added. The X user went on to explain that in Kerala, 'the Malayalam calendar (solar calendar) is used alongside lunar calculations, and local traditions also prioritise a specific astrological configuration of the Rohini Nakshatra (the star associated with Krishna's birth) or the precise timing Janmashtami's date is determined by the Ashtami tithi (lunar day) and the presence of Rohini Nakshatra at midnight, as Krishna is believed to have been born at midnight.' "In Kerala the presence of Rohini Nakshatra along with the Ashtami tithi is mandatory to determine the birthdate of Krishna whereas in other states it is not so," he added. Most parts of the country celebrated Janmashthami on August 16.

The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly was reacting to Siddaramaiah targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for describing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the 'world's biggest NGO', during his address to the nation from the Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day on Friday. Siddaramaiah had on Friday claimed the RSS is 'the world's biggest for-political-profit, for-hate, and most divisive organisation-unregistered, non-tax-paying, and conspiring to pit Indians against each other.' 'It's no surprise CM Siddaramaiah jumps at every chance to attack the RSS. It's not conviction - it's compulsion. It's not ideology - it's insurance. It's not belief - it's survival,' Ashoka said. In a post on 'X', he claimed that Siddaramaiah attacks the RSS to impress the Gandhi family and prove loyalty to the Congress high command, to keep the CM chair safe from the factional knives in his own party, and to distract from his government's failures, by demonising an organisation that serves the nation selflessly. No compromise on development: Aruna
Mahabubnagar: Mahbubnagar MP DK Aruna toured CC Kunta village in Devarakadra constituency, where she laid the foundation stone for several development works on Saturday. With Rs 18 lakh from her MP funds, two community halls will be constructed, for which she performed the groundbreaking ceremony along with local BJP leaders. Prior to the programme, she offered special prayers at the Valmiki Temple and the Ganga Bhavani Temple. Speaking on the occasion, Aruna said, 'There will be no compromise on development. I am allocating Rs 65 lakh per constituency from my MP quota. Already, high-mast LED lights worth Rs 2.05 lakh have been installed in CC Kunta.' She appealed to the people to give BJP a chance in the upcoming local body elections. 'You have seen ten years of BRS rule, and now you are experiencing the deceptive Congress rule. If you elect BJP this time, I will change the face of CC Kunta and take full responsibility for its development.' Aruna highlighted the central government's schemes, pointing out that roads, Anganwadi centers, midday meals, streetlights, and crematoriums in villages are all funded by the Centre. She noted that ration rice, Mudra and Vishwakarma loans, PM Awas Yojana houses, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, fertilizer subsidies, and drones for farmers are all benefits being extended by the Modi government. On the issue of Boya Valmikis' inclusion in the ST list, Aruna said that she had already raised the demand in Parliament and discussed it with Union Ministers. Rajya Sabha MP Laxman also raised the issue. 'I will make every effort to ensure your long-cherished dream of being included in the ST list becomes a reality,' she assured.
