Sam Heughan and Jessica De Gouw Rank The Couple Next Door Characters in Order of Who Lost Their S–t Most By the Finale
Now that The Couple Next Door's final episode has aired Stateside, it's time for some scholarly and in-depth analysis of a profound query: Which character in the kooky, erotic thriller loses their damn minds the most in the season finale?
In case you're new to the show, a) you can stream it in full on Starz, and b) let me catch you up real quick. Sam Heughan (Outlander) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow) play Danny and Becka, married swingers who prove infinitely intriguing to Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson, Poldark) when she and her husband, Pete (Alfred Enoch, How to Get Away With Murder) move into their suburban neighborhood. After they sleep together during an ill-advised couples' weekend away, Evie slowly becomes infatuated with Danny. Pete becomes infatuated with the fact that Evie is infatuated with Danny. It's a whole thing. (Get a taste with the premiere recap here.)

1923 Season 2 Premiere Recap: Boats, Beatings and a Baby - Plus, Grade It!
In the finale, the sordid situation comes to a head in a cabin in the woods. Evie is pregnant with Danny's baby. Pete has a gun. There's a hitman outside, for Danny-related reasons that aren't super important at this moment. We're in full-on madness mode by the time the core four are yelling at each other within the wooden walls. Eventually Pete shoots Danny (non-fatally), then Evie shoots Pete (also non-fatally, but way worse than Danny), and it all ends with Evie and her father (don't ask) being arrested. As she's taken away, Evie locks eyes with Danny and smiles in a way that is incredibly unsettling.
Hence, our query to Heughan and De Gouw: Who's the hottest mess in the season's final hour? Lucky for us, they played along.
TVLINE | By the time we get to the finale, by the time we're at the cabin, I would like you both please — you can collaborate if you like — rank who has lost their s—t the most by the time we get there?JESSICA DE GOUW | [Almost instantly] Probably Evie.SAM HEUGHAN | Evie.DE GOUW | Evie first. Evie, Pete, Danny, Becka.HEUGHAN | Yeah, that's the pecking order. I mean, Evie's a hundred. She's pretty much maxed out.DE GOUW | She is maxed out. She is on another planet. She is unreachable, I think. But then Pete is also, in a way, unreachable. Just through so much pain and heartache.HEUGHAN | Actually, by the end, Danny and Becka are almost there. They're almost back to getting their s—t back together. They're working through it… But actually: So many of the characters lose their s—t. [Laughs]DE GOUW | Yeah, yeah. Totally. The beauty of the finale is that we're seeing these crumbs of real honesty and reconnection with Danny and Becka. So you're watching them amongst this absurdity, and they're finding each other.
TVLINE | Do you both think that they're going to be able to patch things up together?DE GOUW | Yeah. Totally.HEUGHAN | I hope so, yeah. We're rooting for them, right? I hope the audience are. As you said, 'crumbs,' because they really are crumbs. But they are communicating. It feels like if they can both be honest, it'll maybe get back there.
Do you agree with Heughan and De Gouw's take? Choose your most delusional character in the poll below, then hit the comments with your own ranking!

Lions Gate Entertainment Corp (LGF.B) Q4 2025 Earnings Call Highlights: Navigating Challenges ...
Revenue: $326.2 million for the quarter, down 6.8% year over year. Adjusted OIBDA: $92 million for the quarter, up $42.6 million year over year. US OTT Subscribers: 12.3 million, with sequential growth of 530,000. Total US Subscribers: 18 million, a quarter-over-quarter increase of 320,000. Total North American Subscribers: 19.6 million, reflecting a sequential decrease of 330,000 due to a carriage dispute in Canada. Net Debt: $615.5 million at the end of the quarter. Leverage: Total leverage of 3.1 times on a trailing 12-month basis. Restructuring Charge: $177.4 million related to content portfolio reassessment. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 9 Warning Signs with LGF.B. Release Date: May 29, 2025 For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript. Lions Gate Entertainment Corp (NYSE:LGF.B) reported strong operating and financial results, achieving $92 million of adjusted OIBDA in the quarter. The company experienced a 2% increase in OTT subscriber growth in the US, driven by the premiere of Raising Kanan Season 4. Lions Gate Entertainment Corp (NYSE:LGF.B) plans to expand margins from 15% to 20% and convert 70% of adjusted OIBDA into unlevered free cash flow by calendar '26. The company is focused on rebuilding its library and reclaiming ownership economics, with plans for half of the calendar '27 slate to be owned and controlled by Starz. Lions Gate Entertainment Corp (NYSE:LGF.B) has a strong lineup of upcoming content, including five big tempo series and proven hits like BMF and Power spinoffs, which are expected to drive subscriber and revenue growth. North American revenue was down year over year and sequentially, impacted by a strike-affected year with only three tempo series. The company experienced a sequential decrease of 330,000 subscribers in North America due to a carriage dispute in Canada. Revenue was down 6.8% year over year due to lower total subscribers and continued pressure on linear subscribers. The company recorded a restructuring charge of $177.4 million related to the reassessment of its content portfolio. Lions Gate Entertainment Corp (NYSE:LGF.B) expects revenue growth to remain negative on a year-over-year basis for calendar '25 due to the drag from lower subscribers in prior quarters. Q: What is different about Starz 3.0 as a standalone company compared to when it was part of Lionsgate? A: Jeffrey Hirsch, CEO, explained that Starz 3.0 is fundamentally different from its earlier iterations. Previously, Starz was a 100% linear, wholesale business with no consumer data. Now, 70% of its revenue is digital, and 80% of customers are a la carte or RevShare. As a standalone company, Starz can focus on unwinding cost pressures and rebuilding its IP library, allowing for greater control over costs and a focus on its core demographics of women and underrepresented audiences. Q: How much of the US OTT growth came from new bundling strategies, and why was revenue lighter than expected? A: Jeffrey Hirsch noted that the majority of subscriber growth was driven by the premiere of "Raising Kanan" in the last three weeks of the quarter. While bundling strategies like the Max Starz and BET Starz bundles on Amazon were successful, the revenue was impacted by the carryover effects of a strike-affected year and the timing of the "Raising Kanan" premiere, which did not contribute a full quarter of revenue. Q: What is the strategy for shifting to owned IP, and what are the expected cost savings? A: Hirsch stated that Starz plans to have half of its calendar 2027 slate be Starz-owned shows. The shift to owned IP is expected to result in cost savings of $1 million to $2 million per hour, with additional savings from international sales. This strategy is part of a broader goal to achieve a 20% margin by calendar 2028. Q: How does Starz plan to manage its content spending and leverage in the future? A: Scott Macdonald, CFO, mentioned that Starz expects cash content spending to decrease to about $700 million in calendar 2026, with a long-term goal of $650 million. The company aims to reduce leverage to 2.5 times and will assess capital allocation strategies, such as expanding the content portfolio, once this target is achieved. Q: How does Starz view potential consolidation opportunities in the industry? A: Jeffrey Hirsch indicated that while Starz is not currently discussing specific M&A opportunities, the company sees potential in partnerships with brands focused on women and underrepresented audiences. These partnerships could involve commercial deals or other arrangements to grow the business together. Love Wins! 13 LGBTQ+ TV Couples We're Rooting For in 2025
Here at TVLine, we've always been big 'shippers at heart. What can we say? We just love love. So with another Pride Month officially in full swing, we thought we'd take stock of some LGBTQ+ TV couples currently demanding our attention — as well as our full support. And what a group we've assembled this year, one that includes a pair of ghosts, a few vampires and, yes, even a handful of humans. More from TVLine Glad The Last of Us Spared Dog? Did Rehearsal Give You High Anxiety? Did Survivor 50 Need Fan Input? Vexing Organized Crime Absences? More Qs! The Last of Us Season 3: Is Pedro Pascal Gone for Good? Here's What the EPs Say The Last of Us Finale Kills [Spoiler], Teases Abby's Side of the Story - Plus, Grade It! To be eligible for inclusion in our list, a couple needs to be from a live-action, scripted series that's still airing new episodes. We also limited ourselves to only one couple per show. Read on for a breakdown of 13 LGBTQ+ TV couples we're currently rooting for, arranged alphabetically by show title, then drop a comment with your own additions to the list. Which queer pairings currently have your full attention? The very definition of #CoupleGoals (are people still saying that?), Hen and Karen have been an inspiration, both to the other couples on the show and to the viewers at home, from the moment we met them in Season 1. They've had to fight tooth and nail to keep their growing family intact, with every obstacle making them stronger along the way. Plus, there's simply no denying Aisha Hinds and Tracie Thoms' natural chemistry. — Andy Swift An esteemed Congressman and an in-demand journalist? These two have the potential to become D.C.'s top gay power couple — that is, if they can get their house in order first. Martin may own an array of designer suits, but with all those skeletons in his closet, he barely has anywhere to put them. If Smitty uncovers his husband's truth before Martin reveals it himself, things could get very ugly. — A.S. Criminal Minds over 18 seasons (and counting) has, frankly, not featured much LGBTQ+ romance, so Evolution steering Tara into bisexual territory was monumental. Save for an early-season love scene (a rarity for the crime drama!), this pairing has had little screen time in Season 18, but it's good to know they're going strong — to the point that it may be time to meet the parents! — Matt Mitovich Not unlike the Grinch, Leo Stark's heart has grown several sizes during his time in Salem, and the former grifter is always at his best when he's in a stable relationship. After a string of failed romances, Leo seems to have finally gotten it right with Javi, and we're enjoying this latest version of him. Hey, what could possibly go wrong to screw up this perfect pairing? It's not like we're talking about some kind of soap op… oh, right. — A.S. This flame was well on its way to being rekindled when all hell broke loose in the Season 3 finale — just as Eve got blindsided by Francine's talk of having kids. In the heat of the moment, Eve didn't pivot well (at all), but in the wake of Francine's heroics during the Three Rock blaze, we hope they in fact are back on track. — M.M. Yes, the cute couple played by Colman Domingo and Marco Calvani hit a bit of turbulence in the freshman season of Netflix's vacation comedy. (Danny ignoring his health issues and Claude's hot Italian temper led to a fight where Danny's clothes ended up on the front lawn.) But once you get past all the drama, there's a genuine sweetness to these two, and we loved watching them cuddle together and make up. — Dave Nemetz We #Momelia fans are a patient lot. It's been more than a season since Amelia first asked out the new colleague with whom she sparks so appealingly, and they still haven't so much as kissed. Nevertheless, their mutual respect for and ever-increasing understanding of one another keeps us telling ourselves, 'Maybe the next episode will be the one.' — Charlie Mason In Season 3 of Netflix's butterflies-inducing LGBTQ+ dramedy, the high-school sweethearts' romance was tested like never before — by their cohabitation, by the academic pressure on the former, by the latter's nonbinary journey. Yet as we shippers knew they would, the couple managed to rise to the challenges before them and emerge closer than ever on the other side. — C.M. You want to talk about bringing down the house? When these immortal lovers reunited in a hotel at the end of Season 2, in the midst of a devastating New Orleans storm, the structure quite literally crumbled around them. Louis and Lestat have a love for the ages, and now that their mutual misunderstandings have been cleared up, we're hoping for a fresh start moving forward. — A.S. The two post-apocalyptic teens managed to start a relationship in a) a mushroom apocalypse, b) while in deep grief over someone they both adored, and c) despite the fact that one of them was pregnant by someone else. Talk about finding love in a hopeless place! — Kim Roots There's no telling what the future holds for these two badass warriors — literally, the Paramount+ drama has yet to be renewed for a third season — but after all they went through and barely survived at the close of Season 2, it is one of our most fervent wishes that they found the time for lots of not talking. — M.M. Charley is one of those puppy dog characters to whom you only ever want to see good things happen, so imagine our pleasant surprise when he struck up a romance with pouty potter Yuri in the ghost drama's second season. The chemistry, the kisses, the Ghost reenactment — it was all just so, so good. If they couldn't be their authentic selves when they were alive, at least they can be happy together in the afterlife, right? — A.S. After four long, dry seasons (unless you count tears!), we were beginning to think that Isaac would never find someone to share his life with. But then, just when we least expected it, along came Michael to sweep his former frenemy off his feet. Watching them awkwardly figure out their feelings for one another was an unexpected delight, and that first kiss at the Christmas festival? Come on, now! We're all in with these two. — A.S.
