The Cannes Film Festival is officially underway, with stars finally hitting the red carpet following a last-minute brow-raising dress code change. With this year's ban on nudity, voluminous dresses and dramatic trains, an uptick in curiosity over the incoming looks can be expected. Fortunately, it seems the new rules are yet to affect the sartorial prowess we have all come to expect at the iconic festival year after year.
At Cannes, fashion rules have oft been broken, and nude moments have long been toed if not embraced. It seems this year was no different, with a few rebels among the crowd at the Croisette. Though skin-baring and traffic-stopping gowns aside, there were show-stopping looks abound.
A crowd favourite at the festival, Bella Hadid returned to the opening ceremony this year in a black custom Saint Laurent gown. While the model is no stranger to a nearly nude look, with her sheer dress last year grabbing headlines, this year she skirted around the concept, with a thigh high slit and low back on the silk number. Complimenting the look were strappy Saint Laurent heels and Chopard jewels. To top it all off, she showed off her new warm-blonde locks in a side part. Hers was not the only look staying just within the new dress code. Fellow model Heidi Klum attended the festival in a large floral Elie Saab gown with a dramatic fluttering train—despite large trains being banned this year, it seems the festival isn't enforcing this rule too heavily. The stunning floral illusion gown also featured a leg baring slit and was worn with Lorraine Schwartz jewels. On the other end of the spectrum, some stars decided to avoid risks altogether. Halle Berry, actress and a member of the festival jury this year, appeared on the red carpet in a chic Jacquemus black and white striped number. However, it turns out the high-neck gown was not her first pick.
'I had an amazing dress by [Gaurav] Gupta that I cannot wear tonight because it's too big of a train,' Berry explained to Variety . 'I'm not going to break the rules. The nudity part is also probably a good rule.' This statement comes not too long after Berry's own sparkling, nearly-nude look on the Met Gala red carpet this year. It'll be interesting to see the ensembles that come out of the festival's two weeks, and whether stars will continue to go against the grain or adjust to the festival's new, prudent ethos.

Bella & Gigi Hadid Reveal They Have Another Sister: "We've Cherished This Unexpected And Beautiful Addition To Our Family"

Photo: Getty Supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid have revealed they have another sister. In a joint statement given to the Daily Mail , the siblings shared they have another half-sister named Aydan Nix, who is the daughter of their father, Mohamed Hadid. The sisters stated their father had a 'brief romance' with Terri Hatfield Dull, the mother of 23-year-old Aydan, after his divorce from Yolanda Hadid in 2001. 'Over 20 years ago, our dad, while single, had a brief relationship that led to a pregnancy,' the Palestinian-Dutch sisters outlined in their statement, which they highlighted they didn't know about until recently. Photo: Courtesy of Fashion Trust Arabia 'Aydan was born and raised in Florida, growing up with the man she lovingly knew as her father until his sudden passing when she was 19,' the statement added. This prompted Aydan to 'take a genetic test out of curiosity', which led the then-teenager to uncover she had a 'biological connection' to the Hadid family. According to their statement, Gigi and Bella connected with their younger half-sister in late 2023. 'We've cherished this unexpected and beautiful addition to our family,' Gigi and Bella stated, but also affirmed their hopes for Aydan's continued right to privacy. 'As siblings, we've had many open and loving conversations—with Aydan included—about how to support and protect her,' the sisters said in their statement to the outlet. 'Aydan and her family value their privacy, and we fully respect that. 'We kindly ask others to do the same and honour her wish and right to her anonymity as she continues her life as a young woman in New York.' Not much is known about Aydan, apart from she currently resides in New York City, having reportedly recently graduated from Parsons School of Design, with the hopes of working in the fashion industry. Photo: Instagram Bella, 28, and Gigi, 30, also have a brother, Anwar Hadid, 25, from Mohamed and Yolanda's marriage. They also have two other half-sisters, Alana Hadid, 39, and Marielle Hadid, 44, from Mohamed's previous marriage to Mary Butler. While it's not known about the ins and outs of the supermodel siblings' relationship with Aydan, both Gigi and Bella follow the aspiring designer on Instagram, as well as Mohamed.

Miley Cyrus Addresses Her Gold 'Flowers' Dress & Jennifer Lawrence

Miley Cyrus attends An Evening with Miley Cyrus Presented by Spotify at The Metrograph on May 06, 2025 in New York City. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/for Spotify) Miley Cyrus has finally revealed the truth behind that gold dress from her 'Flowers' music video, following plenty of fan speculation about its deeper meaning. While it's not a stretch to believe that the hit song was written about Cyrus' ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, who she divorced in 2020 following over a decade together, fans think the singer dropped a few pointed clues upon the song's release. Most notably, the track's music video, which has amassed over a billion views since its release in 2023, shows the singer in a vintage gold lamé Saint Laurent gown. With an oversized hood and an ab-bearing cutout, the sparkling number is a show-stopper. However, netizens have speculated about the reference ever since. Miley Cyrus / Image: @MileyCyrus At the time, viewers instantly began to draw similarities between Cyrus' gown and one worn by Jennifer Lawrence at the 2012 premiere of The Hunger Games . The Prabal Gurung gown was also gold lamé and featured side cut-outs. Amidst cheating rumours, fans wondered if the former Disney star's gown was a reference to her ex-husband's co-star. It seems that those rumours can finally be laid to rest, as while signing autographs outside of Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, a fan asked the singer , 'Was your flowers dress a reference to Jennifer Lawrence?' 'No, but I love that dress of hers,' the musician cheerfully responded. Liam Hemsworth (L) and Jennifer Lawrence arrive at 'The Hunger Games' Los Angeles premiere, 2012 in Los Angeles, United States. (Photo by Lester Cohen/WireImage) In an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in 2023, Lawrence also gave her thoughts on the matter, telling the audience, 'I assume that was, like, a coincidence.' The actress also cleared the air regarding cheating rumours, stating, '[They're] not true, total rumour.' 'I mean, we all know me and Liam, like, kissed one time,' she added, referencing the pair's on-screen kiss in Mockingjay Part 1 . 'It was years after they'd broken up.' Meanwhile, Lawrence shares two children with husband Cooke Maroney. topics: Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Flowers, Miley Cyrus Flowers, Music News, celebrity, celebrity news, celebrity couples, music, Celebrity Breakups

Getting Ready with Pritika Swarup for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival Closing Ceremony

Pritika Swarup x GRAZIA USA: Cannes Film Festival 2025; Photo Credit: Gabriele Di Martino When it comes to seamlessly blending elegance, intellect, and global impact, Pritika Swarup stands in a league of her own. The international fashion model, Ivy League graduate, Operation Smile Global Ambassador, and founder of holistic beauty brand Prakti turned heads at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival Closing Ceremony — and took GRAZIA USA behind the scenes for an exclusive digital photo diary capturing every meaningful moment. The Magic of the Moment: What Cannes Means to Pritika Swarup The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most iconic celebrations of global cinema, but the Closing Ceremony holds a particular significance. It's a night where the industry's most distinguished talents gather to honor storytelling at its finest, dressed in couture that speaks volumes. For Swarup, returning to Cannes felt deeply personal. Photo Credit: Diana Catch 'Being here tonight is incredibly special,' she shares with us. 'It's my second time attending the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony, and each time feels like a true honor… It reminds me of my journey so far and how grateful I am to grow alongside so many extraordinary artists we're here to celebrate.' How She Gets Ready: Ritual, Rhythm, and Radiance Behind the glamour lies intention. Before stepping into the spotlight, Swarup begins with a deep, grounding ritual — a holistic approach that reflects her Ayurvedic roots and personal wellness philosophy. Photo Credit: Gabriele Di Martino 'I start with grounding rituals — meditation, breathwork, and skin prep using Prakti's PritiPolish Instant Glow Exfoliator and SundaSkin Essential Hydrating Serum,' she explains. 'All beauty begins within… Even a few minutes of breathwork or journaling can completely shift my energy. I approach well-being holistically, often turning to the Ayurvedic principles I grew up with — focusing on balance, alignment, and inner harmony. For me, it's about staying connected to myself, even in the midst of all the chaos and excitement,' she continues. 'And during glam, I blast a power playlist — everything from Bollywood to The Weeknd — to get into my zone.' The Glam Plan: Elevating Old Hollywood with a Modern Twist Every element of Swarup's red carpet look was chosen with precision and care — from her sculptural Zuhair Murad gown to her velvet-tied waves. Together, the ensemble told a story of femininity, strength, and grace. Photo Credit: Gabriele Di Martino 'For the closing ceremony, we were channeling elegant and sculptural but with a softness that felt fresh and unexpected,' she notes. 'Fabio Petri created a beautiful half-up, half-down hairstyle with soft waves and a velvet bow… Soo Park gave me radiant, sculpted skin, a subtle, smokey bronzed eye, and a plush nude lip that brought dimension. We wanted it to feel powerful yet ethereal.' From Virginia Beach to the Croisette: Carrying Heritage with Pride At a festival known for cinematic storytelling, Swarup uses fashion and beauty to tell her own. Photo Credit: Gabriele Di Martino 'My Indian heritage is a constant source of strength and inspiration… On an international stage like Cannes, I see it as an opportunity to share my own narrative. I carry that legacy with pride and always hope to reflect it with grace and intention.' Fashion with Purpose: A Statement Beyond Style The red carpet is about identity, heritage, and self-expression to Swarup. With every detail, she brings her story to life. Photo Credit: Gabriele Di Martino 'Zuhair Murad is a dear friend and a true master of intricate craftsmanship and timeless elegance… Its [the gown] sweeping velvet cape and elegant gloves, paired with the beautiful sheer silhouette, strike the perfect balance between delicate and powerful. The gown embodies a refined femininity that perfectly reflects how I wanted to feel tonight, graceful and effortlessly chic. To me, it captures the spirit and glamour of Cannes.' Balancing the Chaos: Staying Grounded While on the Move While Cannes is all glam on the outside, the lead-up to the ceremony wasn't without its curveballs. A citywide power outage added chaos to an already high-energy day. Photo Credit: Gabriele Di Martino 'When the electricity went out in Cannes for hours before the closing ceremony, everyone started panicking. It was chaotic — hair tools weren't working, lights were out, and for a second, it felt like the entire evening might unravel,' she admits. 'But my team pulled it all together… It reminded me that no matter how polished things look on the outside, it's the resilience, creativity, and teamwork behind the scenes that make the real magic happen.' Dressing with Intention: The Message in the Look More than just a beautiful ensemble, the multi-hyphenate's look carried a message. Photo Credit: Gabriele Di Martino 'I wanted this look to reflect the harmony between strength and softness — two sides of my story. It's about celebrating the complexity of womanhood: bold yet tender, fierce yet graceful.' The Finishing Touch: Jewelry That Speaks Volumes Swarup chose Boucheron diamonds to complete her look — delicate yet striking pieces that added dimension to her soft-glam silhouette. Photo Credit: Gabriele Di Martino 'I chose Boucheron for their timeless artistry. I wore delicate diamond earrings and a ring, each piece thoughtfully chosen for its structured beauty that echoes the gown's elegance. Together, they brought a sense of refinement and sophistication.' Style on a World Stage: What Cannes Fashion Means to Her At Cannes, style becomes symbolic — and for Swarup, fashion is a medium for meaning. Photo Credit: Diana Catch 'Fashion on the Cannes red carpet is a way to express who I am in that moment… For me, it's about how the look makes me feel, what it represents, and the story I want to share with the world. I'm drawn to pieces that carry emotion, heritage, and impeccable craftsmanship — those details that elevate fashion into true art. When it all comes together, it tells a powerful story.' A Lasting Impression As the curtain closed on another unforgettable Cannes Film Festival, Pritika Swarup's presence on the red carpet served as a reminder that true beauty lies not just in the gowns or the glamour — but in the intention, identity, and inner strength behind it all. Through her holistic rituals, thoughtful fashion choices, and unwavering grace, Swarup didn't just attend the closing ceremony — she embodied its spirit. And with every step, she continues to redefine what it means to be a modern woman on the world stage: grounded, empowered, and unapologetically herself — with an elegant and meaningful sense of style.
