'Could there be a worse form of opportunistic politics than this? Could there be a more shameful quid pro quo? After I exposed the shady dealings of both Revanth and Ramesh, they are now in disarray — like rats caught in a trap, fighting to save themselves,' he said and wondered: 'A road for a non-existent Future City? And a Rs 1,660 crore contract for it?'
'They mortgaged HCU (Hyderabad Central University) lands to secure `10,000 crore in loans, and to reward those who facilitated this shady deal, they created a road out of nowhere. What I said then has now been proven true. With their corruption exposed, they are spinning false stories to divert public attention,' he alleged.
'Breaking rules and handing over massive contracts to favoured companies — this is second nature to your (Ramesh's) friend Revanth Reddy. It is now clear that the Rs 1,660 crore contract is a return gift to your friend for helping loot Rs 10,000 crore,' said the BRS working president.

HYDRAA Strikes Again…! Clears encroachments in Musi riverbed, Moosapet
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad River and Lake Development Authority (HYDRAA) team today took decisive action against illegal encroachments along the banks of the Musi River, specifically from Chaderghat Bridge to Osmania Hospital, removing all unauthorised structures. According to HYDRAA, encroachers had illegally occupied land on the riverbanks and constructed sheds by dumping soil. These areas were subsequently being rented out for various commercial purposes, particularly for parking cars, buses, and lorries. HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath stated that a total of 9.62 acres of land had been illegally occupied. This included 3.10 acres encroached by Tikaram Singh, who was running an illegal business by constructing sheds; 1.30 acres occupied by Poonam Chand Yadav; and 5.22 acres encroached by Jaya Krishna. Investigations revealed that all these individuals had encroached upon and constructed sheds on the riverbanks, which they were then renting out. Residents had filed complaints regarding these activities, which also included anti-social behaviour, illegal nurseries, and commercial use of the encroached space for parking. Following these complaints, HYDRAA took swift action, demolishing all illegally constructed sheds and reclaiming the land, returning it to government control. Similarly, HYDRAA also cleared illegal encroachments from 2,000 square yards of park land in Anjaneya Nagar Colony, Moosapet. This land had been officially designated as a park in the layout approved by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA). According to HYDRAA, a local resident, Yasin, was unlawfully using the park land for commercial activities, including storing tent materials, operating sound systems, and repairing generators. Furthermore, he was running a tent supply shop on one side of the road and had extended his business operations onto the designated park area directly opposite the shop. Ranganath confirmed that the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) had previously sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for the development of the park, including laying the foundation stone for fencing around it. However, Yasin and his associates allegedly obstructed this development work. In response, local residents lodged complaints with both GHMC and the local police. Following these complaints, received via HYDRAA Prajavani, the HYDRAA team conducted a thorough investigation and initiated action to clear all illegal encroachments from the site. Fencing work around the park land was also launched immediately to prevent further illegal occupation.

Kuppam set to become fully solar-powered under new green energy push
Tirupati: As part of promoting green energy, the Andhra Pradesh government has completed a pilot solar power project in Nadimur village of Kuppam constituency, represented by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Following its success, plans are underway to expand the initiative across the entire constituency, covering households, agricultural connections, and government buildings. The pilot, launched on January 6, 2025, was implemented under the Central government's PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana scheme in collaboration with APSPDCL and Kuppam RESCO. As part of the project, rooftop solar panels were installed on 100 houses in Nadimuru. Officials estimate that the village is now generating around 15,000 units of electricity, with excess power being fed back into the grid through bi-directional meters. Building on this model, authorities are now extending the solar service to 7,489 identified SC/ST connections across the constituency, for which tenders have already been invited. These beneficiaries will receive connections free of cost. In addition, solarisation of 34,000 agricultural service connections falling under 126 rural feeders is also in progress. The initiative also covers around 43,000 service connections belonging to BC, OBC, and OC categories. The government has announced subsidies of Rs 30,000 for 1 KW systems, Rs 60,000 for 2 KW, and RS 78,000 for 3 KW rooftop solar panels. For the remaining cost, financial assistance will be provided through the Velugu project and bank loans. For instance, the consumer contribution of Rs 40,000 for a 1 KW system can be split into Rs 20,000 from a bank loan and Rs 20,000 from women's self-help group loans. The system uses two-way meters to measure both consumption and excess generation. Any unused power is transferred back to the RESCO, and the consumer receives billing credits accordingly. A 1 KW system is expected to generate about 120 units of electricity per month, which could reduce a typical electricity bill from RS 1,000 to Rs 338, resulting in annual savings of approximately Rs 8,000. To facilitate the expansion, the government has begun collecting consent forms from households in all four mandals of Kuppam. Each mandal is targeting 600 homes in the initial phase. The consent process is being supported by 5,661 women self-help groups under the Velugu programme, involving over 56,000 members. Village Organisation leaders and community coordinators are creating awareness and encouraging residents to adopt solar power. Officials noted that while the high upfront cost of rooftop systems has made some households hesitant, the combination of subsidies and financing options is expected to improve participation. The project aims to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources while offering long-term savings for residents. Authorities said they are working to implement the Chief Minister's vision of making Kuppam a fully solar-powered constituency.

Ponnam dangles JH seat carrot for local candidate
Hyderabad: Hyderabad's In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar today clarified that the Congress party will allocate the ticket for the Jubilee Hills by-election to a local candidate, stating that individuals from outside the constituency would not be considered this time. Speaking to media persons in the presence of cricketer-turned-politician Mohammad Azharuddin, Ponnam gave a clear indication that Azharuddin would contest once again from the key constituency. The Transport Minister affirmed that party cadres would work unitedly for the victory of whichever candidate is fielded by the party high command. He exuded confidence that the Congress party would hoist its flag in the Jubilee Hills constituency. The by-election for the Jubilee Hills seat was necessitated by the death of the sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath of the BRS. Gopinath, who had defeated his nearest rival, Azharuddin, by over 16,000 votes in 2023, died of cardiac arrest on June 8. Azharuddin, who also serves as PCC Working President, had earlier declared himself as a candidate amidst speculation that the party was unlikely to field him in the by-election. For Jubilee Hills, scores of party leaders are vying to contest. Besides Azharuddin, former Mayor BonthuRammohan, TMREIS chairman Md Faheemuddin Qureshi, former PCC working president Jetti Kusum Kumar, V Naveen Yadav (who contested from AIMIM in 2014), C Rohin Reddy (who recently contested from Amberpet), and numerous others are eyeing the ticket. Azharuddin, who recently attended the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting, has made his intentions clear that he is willing to contest once again from the Jubilee Hills constituency, despite his loss in the 2023 Assembly polls. Bonthu Rammohan, who had maintained a low profile until recent days following his failure to secure the Secunderabad MP ticket, is once again attempting to re-enter the limelight and claims to have a strong grip on constituents. His wife, Sridevi, the Cherlapally division corporator, is said to have a good support base in the constituency. Coming from the Kamma caste, Kusum Kumar had previously sought an MLC position, with his candidature also backed by former MLC T Jagga Reddy, citing the need for proper representation for Kammas.
