BJP govt to celebrate 100 days in office with report card and new initiatives
New Delhi: BJP govt will celebrate its 100 days in office by presenting a report card of its works at a special event to be organised in Delhi next week. Though the exact date, time, and venue for the event are yet to be finalised, sources said the celebrations could be held at Bharat Mandapam.
A senior Delhi govt official said a comprehensive report of the achievements of the newly formed BJP govt in a little over three months of being in office was being compiled after collecting inputs from all ministers in the cabinet. "This report card on BJP govt's 100 days in office will be presented by chief minister Rekha Gupta at the event, which is likely to be held on May 31," the official said.
Sources said govt might also announce some new initiatives at the event, including the launch of 38 Ayushman Arogya Mandir health clinics, a schaolarship scheme for Dalit students, and a pollution action plan to improve the quality of air and Yamuna water in Delhi.
"We managed to roll out some prominent welfare initiatives, which will be talked about at the event. This includes tabling of the pending CAG reports, implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, and registration of people aged above 70 years under the 'Vay Vandana'," said a senior BJP functionary.
"Our govt also set aside Rs 5,100 crore in the budget to provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to eligible women and formed a committee under the chief minister to work out the modalities of the scheme.

BJP govt also presented Delhi's largest budget ever of Rs 1 lakh crore for 2025-26," he added.
The launch of 400 small-sized buses, named Devi, to improve last-mile connectivity in various parts of the city and the flagging off of a fleet of 1,111 GPS-enabled tankers to boost water supply in slums and unauthorised colonies will also be listed as achievements in the report card, said an official.
CM Rekha Gupta and her cabinet colleagues – Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Kapil Mishra and Ravindra Indraj Singh – took the oath of office and secrecy on Feb 20 in a grand ceremony, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and heads of several other BJP-led states at Ramlila Maidan. BJP has formed its govt in Delhi after 27 years, defeating AAP, which was in office for consecutive terms.

A statement, jointly signed by 23 MLAs stated, "We feel and share the enormous suffering endured by the people of Manipur over the past two years. As elected representatives, we are united in our firm belief that a long-term solution to the crisis is both possible and necessary." Live Events "Such a solution must rest on the pillars of political will, inclusive dialogue, constitutional safeguards and impartial endorsement of law and order. It is our collective conviction that this journey must be undertaken in close cooperation between the Centre, state, civil society and community leaders," it added. The meeting was attended by senior BJP MLAs, including Govindas Konthoujam, Y Khemchand Singh and L Susindro Meitei. "During our deliberations, we thoroughly examined mechanisms for inclusive dialogue involving representation of all communities in Manipur. We strongly support the establishment of a neutral dialogue platform to facilitate constructive meditation between Meitei and Kuki Zo communities aimed at building trust and consensus on critical issues," the statement added. "The meeting also considered the feasibility of formally approaching the governor and the central leadership to appoint a peace envoy or a panel of eminent persons, comprising voices from within and outside Manipur. Such a body operating with full support of the Union government and the state administration would play a vital role in facilitating impartial mediation and bridging the trust deficit among the communities," they said. "We emphasise the critical importance of inter-community people-to-people dialogue at grassroots level involving local governance institutions, civil society groups, student bodies and religious institutions. This will lay the foundation of healing, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence," the legislators said. "We underscored the need of central paramilitary forces and state forces to act with strict neutrality and reiterated the urgency of a well-monitored effort to recover looted weapons and disarmament in the hills and the valley," the statement said. The legislators also acknowledged the "public desire to see the formation of a popular government". "We discussed pathways to achieve this with unity and selflessness. We resolve to put aside personal ambitions in the larger interests of the state, its people, and the vision of BJP and its alliance partners in Manipur," they said. "With collective determination and inclusive leadership, we believe the state can once again find its path towards unity and progress," they added. The signatories of its statement did not include former chief minister N Biren Singh or Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh. On May 28, 10 NDA MLAs met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla in the Raj Bhawan. The MLAs also submitted a list of 22 MLAs seeking formation of a government. With BJP falling to find a consensus candidate for the chief ministership, President's rule was imposed on, four days after Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, who was heading a BJP-led government for the second term, resigned on February 9, following ethnic violence. A senior BJP leader, who did not want to be named, said, 'There are too many candidates in the fray for the chief minister ship. Assembly Speaker Satyabrata Singh and former Municipal Administrations, Housing and former Urban Development minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh were vying for the chief minister's post.' He said two former ministers, including Th Biswajit and Govindas Konthoujam were also in the race. Over 260 people were killed, more than 1,500 injured, and over 70,000 people displaced after the ethnic violence broke out between the Meitei and the Kuki-Zo people on May 3, 2023, after a 'Tribal Solidarity March', organised in the hill districts to protest the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe status.

Amid Trump's 'ceasefire' claims, Kamal Nath hails Indira Gandhi for resisting US pressure during 1971 war
Jabalpur: Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Kamal Nath on Saturday hailed former prime minister Indira Gandhi for not giving in to pressure from the United States of America during the 1971 India-Pakistan war which led to the creation of Bangladesh. Nath's statement at the MP Congress' 'Jai Hind Sabha' here came in the backdrop of US President Donald Trump repeatedly asserting that he got India and Pakistan to end hostilities triggered by Operation Sindoor . However, India has stuck to its stand that the US had no role to play. During a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Pakistan had "begged" for a ceasefire during Operation Sindoor. The neighbouring country retaliated with drones and missiles but failed to cause harm. The two nations announced cessation of hostilities on May 10. "I saw the 1971 war. I saw the strength of (then PM) Indira Gandhi. The US (which supported Pakistan at the time) exerted pressure from different quarters but Indiraji refused to budge," Nath said at the rally. Live Events Earlier in the day, Congress social media and digital platforms chairperson Supriya Shrinate, in a post on X, asked Modi to break his silence on Trump's claims. Speaking at the rally, Nath hailed the people for turning up in such large numbers to honour the country's armed forces. The Congress is holding 'Jai Hind Sabhas' across the country to salute the armed forces, while the BJP has been carrying out 'Tiranga Yatras' to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor. Speaking on state affairs, Nath said MP was now the capital of lies, corruption, abduction of women and anti-farmer policies. "The picture of MP is in front of you. There is inflation and unemployment. I am deeply concerned with unemployment. Youth are wandering for jobs. If their future is dark, then what sort of MP are we building," Nath questioned. "When I was CM and approached industrialists to invest in MP, they would claim the state is beset with rampant corruption," Nath added. The Congress has been out of power in MP since 2003, except for a brief 15-month period between December 2018 and March 2020 under Nath. The Nath government collapsed after several MLAs, most of them loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia, quit and joined the BJP. The BJP retained power with a huge majority in the 2023 assembly polls.
