Kaizer Chiefs news: Salum, Mayele, Duba

Kaizer Chiefs suffered a damning defeat at the hands of Gallants, stretching their gap from MTN 8 qualification.
Nedbank Cup final berth is the silver lining in their season of suffering, a feeling AmaKhosi fans are getting accustomed to after last campaign's tenth-placed finish.
Wandile Duba will be pivotal to ending their ten-year trophy drought when they face Orlando Pirates on May 10.
The Soweto giants are experiencing further mishaps in the boardrooms as long-term priority targets Fiston Mayele and Feisal Salum appear set to reject Kaizer Chiefs' offers.
The former, who guided Pyramids FC to the Champions League finals with an emphatic brace over Orlando Pirates, has been offered a two-year deal by his current team. And with the former they're in, simultaneously topping the Egyptian Premier League, you get the feeling he may stay.
'They [Pyramids FC] are doing everything to keep him. They know there is interest not just from Kaizer Chiefs but other clubs as well and they want to make sure they keep him,' said Soccer Laduma.
' So they have offered him a new two-year contract which increases his value as well.'
Regarding Salum, Kaizer Chiefs now face competition against his former club Young Africans.
'Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum's potential return to Young Africans is intensifying amidst growing interest from several other clubs,' a source revealed.
'Salum has emerged as a prime target for Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who previously worked with the midfielder at Yanga. With clear indications pointing towards a move for Aziz Ki at the end of the season, Yanga are reportedly keen to welcome back Salum.'
'The midfielder has only a year left on his contract with Azam FC and is reportedly eager for a move. A return to Yanga would be an appealing prospect for the Zanzibar-born midfielder.'

Player rejects Orlando Pirates for Kaizer Chiefs!

Kaizer Chiefs are rumoured to be on the verge of welcoming two players from arch rivals Orlando Pirates this window. Chiefs have been linked with moves for Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako who have just been released by Pirates. The 31-year-old Mako would be arriving from arch nemesis Pirates with a wealth of know-how. This after playing continental football and winning six trophies while with the Buccaneers. He would also come in as a potential starter, solving the left-back issue at Amakhosi. It is thought that his deal to join Chiefs has reached its advanced stages. Now while the news of Pirates releasing Mako came as a shock, him being linked with Chiefs was a bigger shock. That due to how instrumental he had become for the Buccaneers under coach Jose Riveiro. But nonetheless, it has since been revealed by that the club offered him a new deal but he chose to cross the floor to Naturena instead! 'Pirates did everything to keep Mako, but the player had already made up his mind. Pirates were keen to extend his stay at the club but believed (he had) already agreed terms with Kaizer Chiefs after the Nedbank Cup final in Durban. There were even bigger plans to keep Mako beyond his playing days at Pirates, but the player had already made up his mind to go to Kaizer Chiefs,' said a source thought to be within the Buccaneers ship. Mako leaves Pirates where he had become first choice left-back towards the end to compete at Chiefs. He will have the likes of Bradley Cross to deal with. This as the future remains unclear over Edmilson Dove, Bongani Sam and Happy Mashiane. Chiefs fans are you happy that Mako rejected Pirates to sign for your club? Kaizer Chiefs to sign ex-Orlando Pirates duo?

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly eyeing two former Orlando Pirates defenders in the next transfer period. The Buccaneers released several players this month, including Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako. According to SABC Sport, Amakhosi are close to finalising a deal with Monyane. The 25-year-old right-back spent 13 years with the Buccaneers, where he went on to make 95 appearances. With the signing of Deano van Rooyen, Monyane's gametime at Orlando Pirates was very limited. This week, he bid farewell to the club in an emotional message. 'Joining the institution at 12 to 25, this club has been my everything. I've grown as a player, but more importantly, as a person. I'm grateful for the trophies we've won, the memories we've created, and the friendships that will last a lifetime,' read part of the statement. 'To the fans, thank you for your unwavering support. Your cheers, chants, constructive criticism and passion fuelled me every step of the way. I'll never forget the electric atmosphere you created on match days. 'To the chairman, staff, technical team, and players, past and present, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and camaraderie. You've all played a role in shaping me into the player I am today. 'As I embark on my new journey, I'll carry the lessons, values, and memories from this club with me always. I'll be forever grateful for the opportunity to represent this amazing club and be part of its history.' Another former Orlando Pirates player rumoured to be moving to Chiefs is Paseko Mako. The utility player was released by the club after seven years with the Buccaneers. Kaizer Chiefs launch transfers ahead of Netherlands tour

Kaizer Chiefs have wasted no time strengthening their squad as they prepare for a crucial pre-season tour to the Netherlands in July. With plans to return to domestic dominance, the club has made decisive moves in the transfer market, securing key targets and cutting loose those who no longer fit the vision under head coach Nasreddine Nabi, according to iDiski digital paper. After enduring a challenging first season, Nabi managed to end Amakhosi's long-standing trophy drought by lifting the Nedbank Cup in a high-stakes Soweto Derby, derailing Orlando Pirates' dreams of a historic cup treble. This hard-earned silverware has given Chiefs fresh impetus to restructure the team aggressively. 'Winning the Nedbank Cup was a turning point,' said a club insider. 'But the work has just begun.' In a ruthless shake-up, Sabelo Radebe, Njabulo Blom (following the end of his loan), and Ranga Chivaviro (whose option was not exercised for the 2025/2026 season) have all exited Kaizer Chiefs. Uncertainty looms over several others, including George Matlou, Teboho Potsane, Zitha Kwinika, Fiacre Ntwari, and Samkelo Zwane. Chiefs are reportedly considering loan deals for fringe players and emerging prospects as they balance squad depth with competitive edge. The club has set its sights on a number of fresh talents, including goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, who could be heading to Azam FC in Tanzania, the very club from which Chiefs are chasing midfield maestro Feisul Salum. There were also early discussions surrounding a potential move involving Stanley Nwabali of Chippa United, but talks have seemingly stalled, with the Nigerian shot-stopper eyeing a European switch instead. Chiefs' interest in Ime Okon remains strong. The 21-year-old defensive ace is available on a free transfer and is seen as a major boost to Nabi's backline. However, they face stiff competition from rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, who rate him highly as one of the brightest young defenders in the PSL. Reports indicate that Thabiso Monyane signed with Amakhosi two weeks ago after his contract expired at Orlando Pirates. He might not be the only one making the switch across Soweto, Paseka Mako has also been linked to Chiefs, potentially forming a revamped full-back duo. Former Sundowns star Sipho Mbule is also on Chiefs' radar. His agent, Mike Makaab, confirmed that his client has been offered to the club following the expiry of his contract. A deal could bolster Nabi's midfield options with experience and creativity. Additionally, conversations have opened with several Europe-based Bafana Bafana internationals, who are weighing up returns to the South African top flight. Chiefs' growing ambition could make them an attractive destination. Finding a reliable target man has been a top priority for Nabi. With limited options locally, Chiefs are closing in on Etiosa Ighodaro. A powerful forward who has spent the last six years on the books of Sundowns, including loan spells at AmaTuks, Chippa United, SuperSport United, and AmaZulu. Now reportedly eligible for registration as a local player, Ighodaro is inching closer to a Naturena move. A source close to the club stated, 'He fits what Nabi wants up front, strength, movement, and goals.' Should Chiefs secure Ighodaro on a free, it could spark tensions with Chloorkop. But signal a major statement of intent from the Soweto giants. Who should Kaizer Chiefs sign for next season? Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
