Helen Mirren brought theatrical sensibility to the red carpet for the 'La Venue de l'Avenir' premiere during the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday. The Oscar-winning actress embraced statement accessories with nods to dark glamour.
For the premiere, Mirren opted for a custom design courtesy of Badgley Mischka. The gown marked the final design from the fashion label's founders Mark Badgley and James Mischka. Established Incorporated announced in April the company set up a strategic joint venture with ACI Licensing to acquire Badgley Mischka, among other lifestyle brands.

Mirren's gown featured long sleeves and a floor-length hem with a short train. The ensemble was crafted with a form-fitting silhouette and included such exaggerated elements as sharp shoulders. At the waist, an aquamarine sash was added, with a bow at the back, and long flowing fabric to the red carpet.
Along with the dress, accessories worn by 'The Queen' actress added to the overall theatricality of her attire. The actress paired the dress with a seafoam aquamarine and pearl necklace, which featured two strands connected to aquamarine gems in a tiered style with a pearl at the end. Mirren also wore pearl earrings to complement the necklace. Jewelry was provided by Margot McKinney.
To complete her look, the actress added a black fascinator with sheer elements and a statement black flower by Karen Millen. Final touches on Mirren's look included shoes by Sole Bliss and a bag by Ahikoza. Mirren's look was curated by stylist and costume designer Lee Harris.
With the acquisition of Badgley Mischka, along with such brands as C&C California and Kay Unger Design, founders Mark Badgley and James Mischka will step away from the brand they founded roughly 37 years ago in New York City. Badgley and Mischka are not affiliated with the new venture, but they will continue to appear on HSN through their affiliation with the Badgley Mischka dress licensee MJCLK.
The 2025 Cannes Film Festival concludes on Saturday. Films premiering at this year's festival include Wes Anderson's 'The Phoenician Scheme,' Julia Ducournau's 'Alpha' and Lynne Ramsay's 'Die, My Love.' Berry and Jeremy Strong, among others, serve on the 2025 jury alongside jury president Juliette Binoche.

Brandon Blackstock's obituary gives shoutout to his 'loving partner' Brittney Marie Jones

Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband and former manager, Brandon Blackstock, seemingly moved on to another romance after his high-profile split from the pop singer, the late talent manager's obituary reveals. Montana funeral provider Axelson Funeral & Cremation Services paid tribute to Blackstock, who died on Aug. 7 at age 48 following a battle with skin cancer, in an obituary shared ahead of Blackstock's Aug. 17 memorial service. "To know Brandon was to love Brandon," the obituary states. "He played important roles in shaping the careers of many larger-than-life celebrities and left a lasting impact on everyone who met him. He always had his hand out to pull others up the ladder, to open a door, to make a connection." The death announcement also touchingly highlighted Blackstock's many loved ones, such as father Narvel Blackstock, stepmother and country singer Reba McEntire, and Blackstock's children with Clarkson, daughter River and son Remington. Another name that made the list was the talent manager's business associate and apparent significant other, Brittney. "Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life," the tribute reads, which included "building companies and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana." Blackstock, who met Clarkson at a rehearsal for the American Country Music Awards in 2006, was married to the Grammy-winning singer and talk-show host from October 2013 until June 2020. After nearly seven years of marriage, Clarkson filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. The former couple made headlines with their contentious divorce battle, which included legal disputes over parental custody, real estate property and business payments. Brandon Blackstock death: Cause of death for Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband revealed Who is Brittney Marie Jones? During this time, Jones was reportedly based in Los Angeles, where Clarkson's eponymous talk show, "The Kelly Clarkson Show," was filming. In addition to helping manage Clarkson's daily schedule, the executive assistant also worked as an assistant for Blackstock (who previously served as Clarkson's manager), according to the LinkedIn profile. Denzel Washington rips Jerry Jones, state of the Cowboys on ‘First Take'

Celebrity Cowboys fan and Hollywood A-lister Denzel Washington ripped owner Jerry Jones during an appearance on ESPN's 'First Take.' Washington and Spike Lee were appearing on the ESPN program to promote their new movie 'Highest 2 Lowest' when the Cowboys came up, and the two-time Academy Award-winning actor took aim at the the franchise's owner. 'I've been a Cowboys fan since the '60s. He's making it hard for me,' Washington said about Jones. 'Not to be a fan, because I'm still a Cowboys fan. I'm still going to have the star on the side of the hat, but he ain't thinking about us. He's thinking about his pocket.' Jerry Jones attends the Premiere of Netflix's 'America's Team: The Gambler And His Cowboys' at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood on August 11, 2025 Getty Images The Cowboys are in the middle of a very public and terse negotiation with star pass rusher Micah Parsons, who is looking for a contract extension. Parsons has expressed a desire to be traded elsewhere after negotiations continued to stall and the Cowboys' owner seemed to take shots at the football player through comments in the media. The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing season in 2024, where the team missed the postseason. 'There's box office and there's Oscars, Jerry,' an intense-looking Washington said into the camera. 'Been a while, huh? Ain't been to the show, you wouldn't know… what it is to win.' 'And I love the Cowboys!' Washington added. 'I love the Cowboys. Because I really love them, this is why I feel the way I feel.' But Washington got one final shot in at Jones when he paraphrased a tagline for the movie: 'All money ain't good money, Jerry.' Denzel Washington weighs in on the state of the Cowboys during an appearance on First Take. ESPN/YouTube The Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl title since 1995 and haven't made it beyond the divisional round in that span either, further upsetting fans of the struggling franchise. Before last season, Dallas did make it to the postseason in three straight seasons, but fell well short in each of those appearances.

Doja Cat defends rap skills after Outside Lands debut: ‘I'm incredible'

Doja Cat clapped back against online criticism about her Outside Lands performance over the weekend, defending her rap skills and declaring that she is 'incredible.' The Grammy-winning artist, who headlined the San Francisco music festival on Friday, Aug. 8, engaged in a back-and-forth with X user @playeration after they called out her musical style on the platform. "Hopefully after Doja drops pop disco album of the century her fans can stop trying to force her into female rap conversations," the X user initially posted on Saturday, Aug. 9, referring to Doja Cat's forthcoming fifth studio album, "Vie." The genre-bending singer and rapper teased the project, performing her new single 'Jealous Type' during her Outside Lands headlining set Friday. She also hosted a surprise listening party at the soon-to-close queer nightclub Oasis immediately after her Golden Gate Park set. She had previously told V Magazine that 'Vie' is 'pop-driven.' The @playeration continued by adding that Doja Cat 'can't be taken seriously as a rapper without ever prioritizing bars, punchlines, wordplay, and storytelling.' That's when the artist chimed in. "You don't listen to or read enough of my writing to be able to make this claim. I'm alright at what I do and sometimes I'm incredible," she responded on Sunday, Aug. 10. "Please stop trying to downplay my ability it feels like you're doling out criticism with no constructiveness based on something that's deeper than just the topic of music." When the @playeration replied to Doja Cat, noting that the criticism is 'not personal,' the two engaged in a brief conversation in the thread. The X user explained that they have listened to the 'Paint the Town Red' artist's full catalogue, but doesn't rate her as highly as rappers like Rakim, Jay-Z and Jeezy. 'That's not hate, it's just a difference in what I look for in rap,' @playeration wrote. Doja Cat replied that she respects their perspective. 'If you haven't been able to find a bar that you can connect with, that's more than okay,' she wrote. 'That's your right.' The conversation came two days after Doja Cat's Outside Lands debut, during which she showed off her new '80s-esque aesthetic and new track. Though she didn't draw as large of a crowd as fellow Grammy-winning rapper Doechii, who performed on the Lands End stage just a few hours before her, Doja Cat got thousands of her fans moving with hits such as 'Woman,' 'Agora Hils' and 'Boss Bitch.' Her subsequent appearance at Oasis came at a trying time for the beloved South of Market drag hot spot, which plans to close at the end of the year due to ongoing financial challenges. 'Her people approached us. She wanted to drop her three new songs in a queer venue,' Oasis owner D'Arcy Drollinger, who also serves as San Francisco's drag laureate, told the Chronicle about how the event came to fruition. 'It was such a joyous feeling in the room' During her post-festival show, Doja Cat previewed portions of 'Vie,' which has no release date yet, and chatted casually with fans from the stage of the 531-capacity venue. 'She was so gracious. Not a single diva moment,' Drollinger said. 'So kind and easy and effortless.'
