Indonesian man kills wife three months into marriage for insulting his parents
PONOROGO: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife just three months into their marriage after she reportedly insulted his parents, reports said. According to Indonesian news portal the case came to light after police received a report of a woman's body discovered in Goa Lowo Forest, Sampung district, on Tuesday. Authorities later identified the woman, which led to the arrest of her husband. Ponorogo police chief Andin Wisnu Sudibyo was quoted as saying that initial investigations suggested the suspect became enraged by remarks made by his wife. The couple had been in an unregistered marriage for about a year and a half before formalising their union three months ago. "On the day of the incident, the suspect picked up his wife and took her to the scene. During the journey, they argued, and the victim allegedly insulted his parents, triggering his anger. "The suspect then slammed the victim against a tree before strangling her with a Wi-Fi cable found at the scene, leaving the body half-naked, and later took her jacket and mobile phone," Andin said. He added that the suspect later concocted a story, claiming the victim had been killed while trying to collect a debt. The suspect now faces murder charges and could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

MCMC, police tracking TikTok user over over fake Zara Qairina post-mortem claims
Published on: Saturday, August 16, 2025 Published on: Sat, Aug 16, 2025 By: Bernama Text Size: For illustrative purposes only. KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are working to identify a TikTok user who falsely claimed to be a surgeon involved in the post-mortem of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the individual had claimed that he was present during the post-mortem on Aug 10, but checks by the Health Ministry (MoH) confirmed that he was neither a specialist nor an MoH staff member. 'This individual shared various false information during a TikTok live session, creating the impression that his claims were factual. 'Unfortunately, the content went viral and has caused public confusion,' he told reporters after launching the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign for Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya at the Teacher Education Institute (Malay Language Campus) here today. Fahmi said the matter was confirmed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad through an official report from health deputy director-general (Medical) Datuk Dr Nor Azimi Yunus, who obtained verified information from the forensic specialists handling the case. 'The head of the forensic team confirmed the TikTok user was not a forensic specialist and that all information disseminated was false. 'The individual has since set his TikTok account to private, making it difficult for the authorities to contact him,' Fahmi said, reminding the public not to be easily swayed by unverified claims on social media. He cautioned that spreading false information is a serious offence, punishable by a fine of up to RM500,000 if convicted. Zara Qairina was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu on July 17 after being admitted a day earlier. She was found unconscious in a drain near the dormitory of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar at 4 am on July 16. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the department has opened a disciplinary investigation paper (KST) against the district police chief, holding the rank of Superintendent; the district criminal investigation division chief, with the rank of ASP; and an investigating officer, with the rank of Inspector. They are suspected of non-compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the investigation into the case. 'The Bukit Aman JIPS officers will travel there within a day or two to record statements from these three officers. The investigation concerns non-compliance with SOPs in the Zara Qairina case and the supervision of investigating officers,' he said. He said this to reporters after the launch of the book 'Antologi Puisi Makan Suap' at the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, last night. Ayob Khan said strict action would be taken against any investigating officers and supervisors found to have violated the investigation SOPs. Ayob Khan said that, so far, the three senior officers involved are continuing to carry out their duties as usual. Last Wednesday, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar, at a press conference, said that the initial findings of the Bukit Aman Special Task Force investigation found elements of non-compliance with investigation procedures during the early probe into the death of Zara Qairina.
