Richard Osman shares exciting Thursday Murder Club news: "It's going to be a fun one"
Richard Osman has shared exciting news for The Thursday Murder Club fans – a brand new book in the series is coming!
The author revealed that the fifth story in the series will be called The Impossible Fortune and is out on September 25, marking the first entry since 2023's The Last Devil to Die.
"The gang are going to be back this autumn in a brand-new book in the series, and there's lots to catch up on," Osman said in a note to fans.
Pre-order: The Impossible Fortune by Richard Osman
After unveiling the title, he teased that that the novel is "going to be a fun one" that will feature "a wedding, an uncrackable code, and a fortune more unusual than you can imagine" – and of course, murders.
The writer also promised "more news soon" with something "exclusive" coming for fans in the weeks ahead.
Osman spoke a bit more about the book on his The Rest is Entertainment podcast with Marina Hyde, confirming today: "I finished writing it yesterday – I wrote 'the end' yesterday. It's so satisfying."
Teasing the plot, he said much of the theme focuses on "luck and chance and what life throws at you", before revealing that he nearly called it something else.

"The inspiration all the way through, I wanted to call it Fortune's Always Hiding, which is from 'I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles', the West Ham song… because Ron in the book is a West Ham fan," he explained.
"So I said to the publishers and agents and everyone, 'This is the name I want because of the song.' And every single one of them said, 'What song?' I said, 'What do you mean what song?' Nobody knew those lyrics…
"I wanted to call it that and no-one understood it, and I was thinking Impossible Heist, and I put the two together and got Impossible Fortune, which does everything it needs to do for me."
Alongside the new book entry, The Thursday Murder Club is gearing up for a movie adaptation on Netflix starring Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley, which is due for release later in the year.

FTX Limited Series a Go at Netflix With Julia Garner, Anthony Boyle Starring
Netflix has greenlit a series about the rise and fall of cryptocurrency exchange FTX and the two central figures involved — Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison. The streamer has formally ordered The Altruists, which will chronicle how Bankman-Fried and Ellison 'two hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye — and then seduced, coaxed, and teased each other into stealing $8 billion.' Julia Garner, who had been in talks to star in the drama, and Anthony Boyle will play Ellison and Bankman-Fried, respectively. James Ponsoldt (Shrinking) is set to direct. The Altruists comes from Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground Productions, which has an overall deal at Netflix. 'For nearly three years now, Sam and Caroline's story has been my daily obsession,' said Moore. 'I'm so grateful to my friends at Netflix and Higher Ground for loving this story not only as much as I do, but in the same way that I do. And we can't wait to show all of you why.' FTX went under in late 2022 after a run on customer withdrawals at the crypto exchange brought to light an $8 billion imbalance in its books. Bankman-Fried was convicted in November 2023 on seven charges of fraud and conspiracy; Ellison, who was co-CEO of a related hedge fund, Alameda Research — and Bankman-Fried's former girlfriend — testified against him after pleading guilty to other charges. The Altruists brings Garner back to Netflix, where she won three Emmys for her role on Ozark and also was nominated for Inventing Anna. She'll next be seen in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, where she plays the Silver Surfer, when the Marvel movie hits theaters in July. Boyle's credits include FX's Say Nothing and Apple's Masters of the Air and Manhunt. Moore, Hoyt and Ponsoldt will executive produce the series with Vinnie Malhotra and Jessie Dicovitsky for Higher Ground, Scoop Wasserstein for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, Tonia Davis, Lauren Morelli and Garner. The Altruists is one of several TV and film projects delving into Bankman-Fried and FTX. Lena Dunham is writing a feature film for Apple and A24, and Amazon's Prime Video ordered a limited series from Joe and Anthony Russo's AGBO and writer David Weil shortly after FTX imploded. On the nonfiction side, Mark Wahlberg's Unrealistic Ideas and Fortune magazine are teaming on a documentary, and Bloomberg has also produced a doc about the company's collapse. New episodes of underrated Netflix hit branded 'best of new teen dramas' are now available to stream
The wait is officially over for Ginny and Georgia fans, as season three is available to stream on Netflix now. The comedy series has proven to be a hit for the streaming service, with fans and critics branding it one of the best new iterations of teen dramas. Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey star respectively as mother-daughter-duo Ginny and Georgia Miller, who arrive in New England to build a new life after years on the run. "Free-spirited Georgia and her two kids, Ginny and Austin, move north in search of a fresh start but find that the road to new beginnings can be bumpy," reads the official Netflix synopsis. Supporting cast members include Diesel La Torraca who plays Georgia's son and Ginny's half-brother Austin, plus Scott Parker as Mayor Paul Randolph who has an instant connection with Georgia. Related: Ginny and Georgia debuted on Netflix in February 2021 and was renewed for a second season two months later. Season 2 dropped on Netflix in January 2023 and earned a 81% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many claiming the follow-up season was better than the original. It took four months for the streaming service to confirm a third series in May 2023, with filming on the next instalment wrapping in September last year. Related: Season three sees two new cast members join the show, Manifest's Ty Doran, who will play Wolfe, a laid-back student in Ginny's poetry class and Noah Lamanna of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fame as Tris, a skateboarding friend of Marcus and Silver's. As for what viewers can expect from season 3, creator Sarah Lampert previously told fans to buckle up for a "wild ride". Ginny & Georgia seasons 1-3 are available to watch on Netflix. Dune 3 gets an exciting filming update which will reassure fans
Dune fans who are eagerly awaiting the third instalment will be pleased to hear that filming should be underway very, very soon. According to Deadline, filming on Dune 3 will begin in July which tracks with previous reports that the production was aiming for a summer start. Last July Dune 3's release date was confirmed for 18 December, 2026 and hopefully the film should still be on track to come out as planned. Dune 3 will see Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Florence Pugh all returning to the franchise. Pugh's character Princess Irulan is expected to take on a bigger role in the third instalment with director Denis Villeneuve previously comparing her importance to Zendaya's character Chani. Related: Best streaming services in 2025 He told Moviefone: "Of course, if there's a Dune Messiah as we plan, [Irulan will] become one of the prominent characters of that whole series. I'm doing a bit of what I did with Zendaya in the first movie. "I introduced Chani in Dune and then she becomes one of the main characters in Part Two. I do the same with Florence, I just introduced her in Part Two and if there's a Dune Messiah, she becomes one of the main characters." One more surprising name that will also be back is Jason Momoa whose character Duncan Idaho died in the first movie and was not present in the second. Related: Dune 3 will adapt Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah where Momoa's character Idaho is cloned and brought back to life as an artificially created human known as a ghola. The cast of Dune 3 may also have a big name addition as in April it was reported that Robert Pattinson had been offered a role, though his casting has not yet been confirmed. Dune 3 will be released on December 18, 2026. Dune: Part Two is available to buy in the UK from , , and more. Digital Spy's first print magazine is here!
