Rihanna's New ‘SMURFS' Song 'Friend of Mine' Has Me Totally Confused
As a song, 'Friend of Mine' relies less on Rihanna's vocals and more on a dance beat. In fact, she barely sings more than a couple lines that simply repeat throughout the song. It's a far cry from her last musical release, 'Lift Me Up,' the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever track which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. But Rihanna fans know that beggars can't be choosers, and if this is what Rihanna is willing to give us, then we'll take it!
Fans have been waiting for a new Rihanna album—affectionately known as R9—ever since she dropped her last full-length album, Anti, in 2016. Since then, she's taken over the beauty world with her brand Fenty Beauty, welcomed two kids, and headlined the Super Bowl Halftime show. New music, however, has been few and far between, which is why fans held high hopes for this new single—even if it is coming courtesy of this summer's animated SMURFS movie.
Needless to say, the reaction to 'Friend of Mine' has been mixed. Some are just grateful for the crumbs while others are joking that maybe they're fine with Rihanna sticking to her makeup brand. 'yk what we'll let u sell the makeup it's okay girl,' wrote one fan on Twitter. Another wrote, 'girl at this point we'll take what we can get i guess.'

Writer Nicolas-Tyrell Scott theorized that Rihanna was trolling all of us with this new track, tweeting, 'Barely saying more than 'you feel like a friend of mine' across the song is k*lling me. She's such a troll and I find it so hilarious as someone who is content with her ending her music career here if she wishes.' And author Bolu Babalola added, 'She's a comedian.'

At this point in her career, it's clear that Rihanna is just going to do what she wants, when she wants it. And if right now what she wants is to voice Smurfette and singe an original song for the film, then that's what she'll do.

Liam Neeson's Longtime Manhattan Penthouse Sells for $10.3 Million
Photo: Krisztina Crane Liam Neeson has officially split with his New York apartment. City property records reveal that the Irish actor has offloaded his Manhattan pad for $10.3 million—about a half a million dollars short of the Upper West Side home's asking price from earlier this year. The buyers are listed as Martin Zetterberg and Joanmarie Zetterberg, per the New York Post. The Taken star initially listed his Manhattan dwelling in 2024 for $12.75 million. He later pulled the residence off the market before re-listing it with a discount to $10.75 million in March 2025 under a different brokerage. Neeson has maintained the Lincoln Square pad since 1999. He originally purchased it for $4 million and resided there with his late wife, English actor Natasha Richardson, and their two sons. Built in 1994, the modern high-rise contains 56 floors. It has become a celebrity enclave over the years, with Howard Stern and Jon Bon Jovi among its past residents. Neeson's unit is situated on the 28th floor; he lived in a 4,524-square-foot space with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, which were assembled by merging three separate units into one. His compounded luxury apartment opens to a lofty foyer, a corner family room, and floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping 360 views of the Manhattan skyline. The dwelling boasts an open concept chef's kitchen outfitted with luxury appliances, a pantry, and a large dining area. The main bedroom hosts two spa-like baths, a gym, and a home office-slash-library with views of Central Park. The rest of the abode features custom built-ins to showcase Neeson's extensive art collection. The Oscar winner divides his time between a few dwellings in his portfolio, including a 6,000-square-foot country home in Millbrook, New York, and properties in his native Ireland. Neeson revealed to People that he plans on retiring from Hollywood in the near future. He's been making headlines lately both for the release of The Naked Gun as well as for buzz around a budding romance with his co-star, Pamela Anderson which is 'in the early stages,' per an anonymous source to People. 'It's sincere, and it's clear they're smitten with each other,' the unnamed source continued. 'The relationship blossomed out of a mutual appreciation for the simpler things in life. They've bonded over their shared love of nature, classic films and a slower pace. Neither of them are chasing the spotlight and they value their privacy at this point in their life.' Matthew Coleman at Coleman Real Estate Group held the listing. 'Aura farming?': Veteran Chiefs DL called out by Gen Z teammate at training camp practice
Use of the term "aura farming" is on the rise, despite the fact that many who hear or read it are wholly ignorant of its meaning. Usually attributed to the extremely-online lexicon of Generation Alpha, aura farming "refers to an act of constantly trying to look 'cool' or 'badass' to build 'aura moments,'" according to the experts at Know Your Meme. The expression officially became part of the zeitgeist in Chiefs Kingdom on Tuesday, August 5, when star defensive lineman George Karlaftis accused veteran pass-rusher Charles Omenihu of "aura farming" at one of Kansas City's recent training camp practice sessions. Take a look at this clip of Karlaftis calling out Omenihu, which was posted to Twitter by the Chiefs' official account: Karlaftis, a native of Athens, Greece, was born on April 3, 2001, placing him squarely in the Generation Z demographic cohort with Omenihu, who originally hails from Houston, Texas, and was born a few years earlier on August 20, 1997. While neither player necessarily fits the description of a person who would be expected to know what "aura farming" is (let alone one who would be able to use it in context in everyday conversation), this interaction may be a sign that a new "rizz king" or "skibidi toilet" might emerge from Kansas City's training camp activities. And, if that happens, God help us all (I think?).
