The new season will again consist of 10 episodes and will explore a different part of Night City. It will be a 'standalone sequel' with a new cast of characters, as the teaser confirms, 'David is dead, but Night City lives on.'
Voice acting veteran Wendee Lee will serve as the casting director for the English dub.
The series, based on CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077, first aired in 2022 and was praised for its animation by Studio Trigger, strong storytelling, and soundtrack.
Despite concerns that the anime would remain a standalone series after its initial 10-episode run, Season 2 was announced at Anime Expo on July 4 2025.
While there is no release date yet, it is expected that the wait will not be as long as the first season, which was announced in June 2020 but premiered in September 2022.
Promotional art and a teaser trailer have already been released, with speculation that the new season could arrive in late 2025 or early 2026.
The teaser trailer released by Netflix features a mix of concept art animation and clips from the first season, accompanied by 'Dive' by Beach House.

Oprah Winfrey can't resist poking fun at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's last name

Oprah Winfrey recently shared a light-hearted moment regarding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's last name, 'Sussex,' during an appearance on Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa. The conversation took place on Wednesday, when Winfrey was asked about the possibility of receiving baby chicks as a gift. She joked that she would promptly take them over to the 'Sussexes,' playfully adding extra 'xes' to the couple's already distinctive surname. Winfrey, a longtime friend of the royal couple, was invited to their 2018 wedding and also conducted their famous interview that aired in 2021. The couple, who stepped down from their senior royal duties, later settled in California, where they shared their chicken coop with Winfrey in a candid moment during the interview. The 'Sussex' surname has become a topic of conversation before. Earlier this year, actress Mindy Kaling appeared on Markle's Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, where she accidentally referred to Markle as 'Meghan Markle' multiple times. Markle quickly corrected her, remarking, 'You know I'm Sussex now,' emphasizing the importance of her new family name. In an interview with People, Markle elaborated on the emotional significance of the name for her family. "It just means so much to go, 'This is our family name, our little family name,'" she said, adding that sharing the surname with her children, Archie and Lili, was deeply meaningful. The Duchess further shared her appreciation for the name, describing it as a special bond for her family.

‘Stranger Things 5' trailer teases epic final battle as Vecna returns

Netflix has released the official trailer for Stranger Things 5, setting the stage for the highly anticipated final chapter in the sci-fi juggernaut. Created by the Duffer Brothers, the new season picks up where Season 4 left off, with Max in a coma, Hawkins fractured, and the Upside Down bleeding into reality. The trailer opens with eerie glimpses of chaos as the town of Hawkins falls under military lockdown. The stakes are higher than ever as Vecna resurfaces, preparing for an apocalyptic battle. 'Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts,' the synopsis reads, 'and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna.' But Vecna has vanished. Meanwhile, Eleven is once again forced into hiding as government forces close in. As the anniversary of Will Byers' original disappearance approaches, an ominous sense of dread spreads across the town. 'To end this nightmare,' the trailer warns, 'they'll need everyone, the full party, standing together, one last time.' Season 5 will be released in three parts: Volume 1 arrives Nov. 26, Volume 2 on Dec. 25, and the series finale on Dec. 31, each dropping at 5 PM PT. The full main cast returns: Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, and Jamie Campbell Bower. New cast members include Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and Terminator icon Linda Hamilton in a mysterious new role. With heart, horror, and high stakes, Stranger Things promises to go out with a bang. This will be the last trip to Hawkins, and it's all building to one final, unforgettable showdown.

Emma Watson's speeding ticket turns into six-month driving ban, magic didn't work this time

If Emma Watson can redefine herself as 'self-partnered' to stave off the pressure to settle down, so can you. Photo: File Emma Watson, renowned for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series, has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding. The incident occurred on July 31, 2024, when Watson was recorded driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone in Oxford. The actress, who had nine penalty points on her driving record prior to this offense, appeared in court, where it was confirmed. At a brief hearing on Wednesday at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court, Watson was ordered to pay £1,044 in fines and costs. The 35-year-old did not attend the five-minute session, with her representatives yet to comment on the case. Watson, who graduated from Brown University with a degree in English literature in 2014, has also been pursuing a master's degree in creative writing at Columbia University. Watson, who gained fame at the age of 11 with the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001, went on to star in all eight films of the franchise. Post-Harry Potter, she appeared in movies like Beauty and the Beast, The Bling Ring, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, with her last film role being in Greta Gerwig's Little Women (2019). She also launched a sustainable gin brand in 2023 with her brother. In a separate case, Zoe Wanamaker, who played Madam Hooch in the Harry Potter films, was also fined and banned for six months for a speeding violation on the same day at the same court. Wanamaker, 76, was caught driving 46mph in a 40mph zone on the M4 in Newbury, Berkshire. She was also fined £1,044, with both women now facing additional penalty points on their driving records. Both Watson and Wanamaker were disqualified for six months due to the accumulation of 12 points on their licenses.
